If you have smear on the magenta in “stripes”, try switching the drum with the cyan one. If the error follows = drum cadrige issue.
If its still an issue after, then the drum “house” is the issue. Maybe because it isn’t magnetic enough for the toner. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I look forward to your videos.
Do you know if that Black and White Press use a Laser Unit or a LED Print Head to write the information to the drum?
I think what you cleaned might be the discharge/erase lamp. That toner build up happens over time, however if it happens frequently then that might be a sign that the developer and or the developer unit needs to be replaced. The same thing with the C3070 you just installed. Toner escapes the developing unit and will get on the charge grid and wire. Monitor that as well, might be a sign that the black developer and or material needs to be replaced.
Keep all 4 machines connected and running. You will increase productivity and at the same time you are sharing the load across the 3 color machines and not 2. The most important thing is that the front door of the newly installed C3070 and the B/W press can open.

What are you using for a vacuum? I'm getting into starting a printing business just currently with some C558s and C454e, looking also to find a used digital press from the Konica line.
Did you end up selling your unit? I have a 3M Anti-Static Vac pack that I got a few years back for electronics and it seems that it's designed for toner pickup too. But are you using just a regular vac or using HEPA of some sort due to the toner particles? Thanks!

  • @tonerduckpin
    @tonerduckpin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Usually the seal on the 1200 developer unit starts to warp and toner will blow past it and contaminate the LED lens. Cleaning the lens is the cheapest and best option on a machine that old.

    Hello Dan!
I really like your movies. I run my own company that is very similar to yours. What differs is the editions of your printed matter, I print significantly less. My printer is a Xerox C70 with a brochure booklet maker and a square folder.
Have had 5 different Xerox machines, including a 3535 that you apparently had. I was not happy with it!
Then I have the usual in the industry. I'll take some pictures and send them to you, if you're interested. I started in the industry in 1976. Have run a large offset press at the local newspaper. Run my own company since 1994. A number of years ago I made 2 1-color offset presses, Rotaprint. Very happy to get rid of these. I think I work more with originals than you do. Continue with your movies. It gives me a lot of inspiration to keep working!

Just so the viewers understand, the productivity of this gentleman is
well beyond the normal for the industry. Its like playing chess, some
are thinking one move ahead, however, he is juggling up to 30 moves at a
time. In the franchise print arena, each production employee is
(typically) responsible for 10 to 20 thousand dollars of volume per
month. This guy is pushing out, in the vicinity of 60, 70 , 80 thousand
or more. This is rare and should be noted that you are witnessing
production from a single individual on a superlative level. There are
some of us out there. This is a bastion of artisanship that is
dwindling in this field. He is right, there is a lot of print still out
there, and although we have experienced "shrinkage" in this industry
(Seinfeld metafores' aside) I've seen a stabilization of this effect. It
is still a viable field to get into, but is attacked and mastered on
many fronts. It is for the smart.

@@brianbass5609 The Pro 50 is much faster than mine. Mine cannot perf, not sure if the Pro 50 can. I like mine for the most part. You need to hire someone to fix it when it breaks. Specialized tools are needed.

@@justaprinter so the digifold you have creases and folds? I run a lot of Christmas cards and such what is the smallest size card stock that it will do? how does it handle gloss paper? like 80#- 130# gloss? keep up the good work with the videos. funny I have been in the business for 10 years and my father for 40 years and I still come home to watch mopre printing lol

@@brianbass5609 It does great with 80lb 130lb. I do 5.5 x 8.5 folded to 5.5 x 4.25. Sometimes it will dog ear smaller pieces of paper but I just run them flat and fold by hand. Yes, it creases and folds.

Typically my customers give files ready to print. If not, either my sister or I will do design. I try to stay away from that though.
