    I worked in the printing industry for 33 years until I had to retire for health reasons. I just wanted to let you know how much I love your videos, you sir have a passion for printing that is rare and great to see in younger generations. I can count on both hands and not use all my fingers for the folks I know with that kind of passion for printing. I have been binge watching your channel and cannot stop, keep up the great work brother.

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked into those machines. They have ok print quality, but not good enough for what I print. The have a 1 cent click charge, which is the same as my self-service toner machines. No reason for me to get one.

I'll tell the wife it's you fault I'm spending all this cash :-) Can't be arsed with offset and all those washups so digital looks the business. Daft question...... if I print letterheads or other similar stationery on a KM, does the printed image peel off if it's put through a laser printer again to for example print a letter? I noticed that you only use the larger paper size even for small documents - why? For example, if you need to print 8.5 x 11 doc, 2-sided, wouldn't it be just easier to buy the letter size paper versus cutting down the larger paper?

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At first it was because Konica charged me 1 click for any paper size. So I would get two sheets for the price of one by printing them 2 up. This is still true for machines that I have a service contract on today, but now I print everything on the largest sheet size to make my belt and second transfer last longer. Switching from small paper size to large paper size will wear the parts unevenly.

    • @Hands-onNow
      @Hands-onNow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @justaprinter

      You should be able to center them in either the RIP or on the printer. On the printer you can select the tray, both sides adjust, then make the adjustment there.

    Wouldn't it be cheaper offset printing

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not for this quantity of books. At 1-2000 books and depending on color, black and white, binding style and book size it will make sense to print offset. But keep in mind the magic number for offset vs. digital will change for every shop depending on your specific costs. I put it on my list to make a video showing a comparison in costs between offset and digital. Great question!
