They are all serviced from KM official company in those country and even buying and shipping the machine from Germany or Austria is a steal. I was able to buy 3 machines C754 for around 3000 euro. Our Konica C3070 is on a service contract and even then, I still feel we need some redundancy.
      To explain: I do most of my file prep in the morning and then print everything after lunch, to send with the postman that day. Over the past few weeks, we’ve had numerous issues with our fuser unit so have had 6 or so call outs in the space of 2 weeks. Because of the fact I start printing at about 2pm, by the time the printer codes out, I don’t get an engineer til the following day. This has definitely gotten us behind so have now started looking at a second printer for when things go wrong.

    Good for you on the deal! You'd be surprised how many people are happy just to have somebody take something off their hands...especially on the larger production stuff that takes up a lot of floor space...and I should know, I have three large machines that I can't even give away and I'd hate to haul them off to a scrapper because someone somewhere could keep a lot of good parts and machines working and you can't donate them because charities don't want that production stuff.

    Some times big companies think they want to "do their own printing" they buy expensive equipment,and then they hire inexperienced no nothings at low wages, they get the machines out of adjustments, show up for work half the time , and after a while they throw up their hands and the equipment just sits there unused. You are very experienced, and enthusiastic about what you do, that is a big advantage , U.S. needs more like you. Go get e'm.

  • @BigSlanko

    Hey pal! You are correct that SOME of the parts on the C3070 main body are interchangable with the 1070, however many are now no longer swap able fuser components being the big one that stands out, along with all of the new PCB architecture. The transfer sections SHOULD be, but at 5 million clicks there would be some trouble keeping the transfer belt assembly going at that rate they do have a lifespan to them, and that\s an expensive component. Devs should have been done (units) a couple times at least as well.
    I don't think that gen of anti static RU is compatible with the 1070 there have been some updates, but I could be wrong I'd have to check the literature.
    The price you paid is GREAT for that unit.
    The IQ-501 actually can play a huge HUGE part in longevity, I have a few C6100 using IQ's that would never be getting the registration and colour likeness they get without it. Statistically what we see is around 80% fewer copy quality issues/registration issues. Getting it up and running may be a very simple task if you would like help, we can start an e-mail discourse and I can see what I can do.

    That is a great deal. Being a tech, the first thing I would have done is look at both the trouble code history and jam history unless it was cleared out. If you note particular repeat offenders, research the codes and write it all down for future reference. That way if you part it out you can kind of have an idea what will be in good shape to transfer over. You may need to enable a dipswitch to view the histories in service mode.
    That USB thumbstick is the same one I use to load firmware upgrades on these units. Fun fact: you can use this method to load the entire service manual into the HDD and access it via the touchscreen to troubleshoot. Its called the SA Tool (Service Assistant Tool). I never use it, but it may be a more valuable feature to an operator. The catch is I believe you need dealer access to Konica's website to download the utility file. Maybe ask your Konica tech to obtain the file for you next time he/she is in?

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I forgot about the code history. Great point. And I didn't know of the SA tool. I'll look into that. Thanks!!!

    I just got a Lexmark C3224 for occasional color prints with 1,337 original pages and toner (black was unusable but the CMY toners all made it, albeit with 20% life left) for $176. It's not for business with 1.5k toners, rather it's for me to have for color prints as I need it.
    It's admittedly not the best deal I can make because of the toner, but I asked to have it removed for transport so if something happens in shipping I lose the toner and not the printer. Seeing as the CMY toners are effectively "consumed" with 20% left, I doubt it matters all that much. I just wish that I could have put it into immediate service despite being aware I would need it one day anyway.

      I don't know. What I do know is to be skeptical of salespeople. Will your customers care if the RIP is 8 bits or 10 bits? Keep it simple and look at the printed product. Can you sell it? I'd be willing to bet you can sell print of either machine just fine. If so, let service reputation and cost drive your decision.

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will probably want an offset press for that. It's just a math game, calculate the cost to run different presses and the cost to buy the machine and you will have your answer.

    How do you find stuff like that priced so low?? Over here across the pond the best "deal" I can find is C5500s at their dying breath for a couple of thousand...
    Swap it with the 1070, don't even think about it! Or keep them both, more machines more better!!!
    And pretty please, I NEED to see the IQ working and in depth reviewed by you! I chickened out when I bought my 3070 to include it in, the cost seemed too high at the time to justify it.

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, you are great. I am 90% sure thats what I will do, swap out the 1070 for the 3070, maybe run the 1070 down a bit more and leave it set up for only envelopes. Yes, I do want to explore the IQ, especially for everyone watching. Word of mouth, people are letting others know that I buy used Konicas.

    Hello from Madagascar Africa. I have an organization that helps kids to have access to education. We give them school items. I’m thinking of buying a set of tools to print and bind books for the. Instead of importing. We have very limited budget so I’d like to ask you what machines do you recommend for this job for just around 100s copies each time for example. Hope I made sense please forgive my English.

    At $2k you definitely got a bargain. I’m in the U.K. and the C3070 has been out less than 3 years over here, and the IQ unit was about £15,000 when we bought out C3070 just over a year ago (we didn’t buy the IQ with it).

One thing I admire watching your videos is you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and you don’t expect the impossible when it comes to the capabilities of the machines you use.
