Great show. You should bring on a recent academy graduate to compliment this podcast if possible. Enjoyed as always. 👍

    Love the Major
    My respect
Also Would like to see female officers and male officers giving their story’s
how was the life in the Academy?
how they prepared their families before going to academy life ?
How was their first year as a rookie officer with their FTO?
How rewarding was to graduate from Academy?
Would love to see officer Gio
    Officer Rodriguez from the Vlogs

Fantastic podcast. Great questions, these are all the questions I have been looking to be answered. Hopefully starting in October. Thank you for getting this out there.

Great episode, and great podcast. It’s refreshing to see a perfectly laid out break down of the side of law enforcement you rarely ever get first hand information from. I would like to see more episodes like this where y’all are shedding light on parts of the job that the average person would be otherwise naive to.

Just wanted to say I’m really enjoying this podcast!! I’m currently in the hiring process with a police department on the west coast and I’m wanting to pursue my law degree at the same time once it’s possible. It’s truly inspiring to hear that someone of his stature was able pursue a masters/doctorate degree while working for a highly respected police department! Thank you guys!

Well, Major Ramos is certainly a well educated man who clearly knows his stuff! He’s a fantastic ambassador to the Miami Police department and it’s great he approached the podcast which such an open, honest and friendly attitude and thanks to the higher ups for allowing him to take part!
A question for him for the next podcast with him if I may?
In terms of the driver training. Could he go through what the driver training entails? Here in the UK in order to respond to calls using lights and sirens it’s a three week course using public roads. I note in the MPD academy however it’s all on a closed circuit. Do you feel the training given to students is adequate and what would you change if you could?

Thank you and that's a great question. Nick might be able to chime on here as well since he's a training officer in the academy.

Guys, awesome Podcast and thank you very much for your effort. Please keep it up! Your advise is very helpful, which I can even transfer for my career in germany! I just became a police officer. It's funny that we /have/ to study here (at least in our state) for 3 years and make our bachelor's degree to graduate to become a
full-fledged police officer. We have three parts. University, police school and internship at police stations as a rookie officer. Now it means for me to give 100 percent during the next three years. Best regards!

Loving the podcast! Great episodes and a lot of great information. I would like to hear from an "older" academy graduate. As a 37 year old that is still trying to get into law enforcement, I would like to hear their struggles and successes.

Good question for sure. In my first academy class I had several veterans and a few of them were starting out after finished a 20yr military career. Fitness is definitely important for the academy and as our bodies age they do start to fall apart but the knowledge that a 30 something can bring to an academy atmosphere can be very helpful to those around.
We may get to more academy convos but here’s a little bit until that happens.

@@JustinYarborough Thank you! I'm hoping my fitness minded self and life experience can, one day, bring a great cop and a community resource to some lucky department.

Do you sleep at police academy during training or do you go home and return the following day?

    • @DonutShopPodcast2020
      @DonutShopPodcast2020  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There are dorms there but they're usually only open for officers training from over seas or special classes.

I want to become a police officer but have some speeding tickets and 3 points on my record am I still eligible? How or what can I do to check my eligibility? I don’t want to start the process unless I know for a fact I am still eligible to become a police officer.

It will vary on the agency. Best bet is to reach out to agencies that you’re interested in working for and find out what they require.
