    Alberto, I'm 70 years old ,my philosophy is this I might be too old for them ,but they are not too young for me - if we stop dreaming what is there left for a man ?Musically is the same ,i like to hear as many different version of a work ,BACH is one of my favourite composer,and the concertos for 2 violins is a masterpiece ,so 2 are better than 1.Happy listening Saluti GINO

  • @MrFpam

    Beautiful rapport between the 2 girls (and with the orchestra). Despite the oldfashioned (typically Russian) use of vibrato it is not too heavy, due to the lively tempi, even in the famously beautiful slow movement.

  • @MrFpam
    @MrFpam 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You probably would like the 2nd movement slower, but this is probably more like what would have been done in Bach's time. Bach does not always have to be "deep". That is a romantic conception.

  • @giuseppelogiurato5718
    @giuseppelogiurato5718 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    A little faster than other renditions I've heard, especially the 2nd movement, which is nbd... the orchestra may be a bit large for the room (can't hear the harpsichord well enough), and why didn't the filmmaker include the final movement? (I'm sure they played it; that's the part with all the fireworks!) otherwise, a nice energetic performance.

    It is a typically Russian performance, and after all they are students. I think it is all, including the 2nd movement, beautifully played. Too many soloists get carried away and over-romanticize the slow movement, which is beautiful enough without that.

  • @gianlucamarcialis3595

    A pleasant rendition of the Bach's double concerto. I have only one concern: I don't like the harpsichord with closed soundboard... it is not an additional instrument, but the *main* istrument in baroque performances.

    • @giuseppelogiurato5718
      @giuseppelogiurato5718 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree... it loses a lot of its "sparkle" beneath all the bowed strings... they should open that little cembalo! I love Julia Fischer... she's such a strong violinist... and not bad to look at either! (I mean, she is a lot prettier than Yitzhak Perlman! ;-)

    • @MrFpam
      @MrFpam 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Gian Luca Marcialis It would be nice to hear the harpsichord more; difficult with so many strings and especially so many cellos, but it is nonsense to say that it is the main instrument. It is part of the continuo, just accompanying the soloists and the orchestra by filling in the harmonies of the bass parts.

    • @gianlucamarcialis3595
      @gianlucamarcialis3595 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Just"? I don't agree with you, Frank. And I think that the "Maestro al cembalo" whose role wad to lead the orchestra could not. Probably the soundboard is closed because it is a neupert "Telemann" model, an "old" harpsichord whose sound quality is very poor.

    • @MrFpam
      @MrFpam 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Gian Luca Marcialis In this case there is no Maestro al cembalo, there is a harpsichordist playing a continuo part. When there is someone leading the orchestra from the cembalo their leading is important but the harpsichord is still not the main instrument. In many performances in modern concert halls the harpsichord can hardly be heard at all. This is certainly a shame, but it shows that the harpsichord is by no means the main instrument. The only time it is the main instrument is if it is playing a concerto, or perhaps playing in a small ensemble such as a trio.
