    Thanks for a great detailed video. I guess I over tightened the inner nut on the axel and never backed off the nut. While driving, the tension was so tight that my axel went in flames. And poped off the bath cap. Thank you for torque specs also. Awesome video

    Great Video. I have Dexter 10K GD axles as well. What size is the spindle nut socket you are using? Is it 2-3/16" ? Where did you purchase it. I am having trouble sizing the socket. A 2-1/4" socket is too big and a 2-1/8" is too small. Any information will be of a great help before I start in changing seal, bearings and brake assys? Thanks Ron Lines SW Virginia

      Thanks! The socket is in fact 2 1/4”. I got it from Amazon. Here is the one I purchased - amzn.to/46cO0C3. I believe they have several different sizes to choose from.

    Hey thanks for the video, I couldn't find the torque anywhere. Also what's the socket size...

      Thanks for watching. There are a few links in the video description. Spindle nut socket is 2 1/4” and the torque specs are at 11:50 in the video.

    In my experience the exact torque spec of a rotating device is less important than that they are all torqued the same.

      Probably true. But if the manufacturer lists specific torque specs might as well follow them.

    where did you get the retraining rings

    • @arrowjmfarms
      @arrowjmfarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you referring to the ring for the wheels? Or the tang washer between the spindle nuts? I'm pretty sure both can be found on amazon. If not there, I'd check etrailer.com...

    • @toddtalladay7265
      @toddtalladay7265 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The retaining ring that goes between the two rims and are you using coned shaped lug nuts? in the video it looks like you had Lugnuts on the inside rim, then the retaining ring and then put the outside rim on after that, is that correct?

    • @toddtalladay7265
      @toddtalladay7265 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it looks like I have the exact same rims that you have but I do not have a retaining ring and when I order new hubs, they came with flanged nuts and I'm wondering if I still need the retaining ring

    • @arrowjmfarms
      @arrowjmfarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@toddtalladay7265 This is an older axle and the retaining ring helps to center the wheels on the hub and lock the nuts on. You most likely have the new style axle and in that case the hub itself has built in self-centering, and thus the use of flange nuts. My dump trailer has the self-centering hubs and flange nuts - no retaining ring needed so you should be good to go.

    This guy has no clue he doesn't even know what the ring is for

    • @arrowjmfarms
      @arrowjmfarms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The rings are for use with tapered (coned) lug nuts as opposed to flanged nuts. It's really as simple as that. Thanks for watching 🙂

      You're welcome for watching. I guess the reason I raised the question was because you totally skipped over why the ring was bent and how it happened. An explanation of why the rims are set at 180° apart so the valve stems counter each other and how the ring helps ensure correct rim placement would be helpful to those not in the know. An explanation of why the ring was bent because it was put on over the stud incorrectly would help ensure that they don't make the same mistake

      I agree. I purchased the trailer used and that’s how it came. Someone didn’t know what they were doing but it’s fixed now.
