  • Bought this video/tape on eBay quite a few years ago and thought it was time to share (we're not getting any younger, NFL Films). So, for the "old" fans that are still around, and for the current fans that are just curious, here's what your Minnesota Vikings were doing thirty-nine years ago...that's assuming TH-cam allows me to keep it posted.

Chuck Foreman was an absolute one of a kind running back. I can’t think of a single running back in NFL history that even reminds me of him.

Jim Marshall should be in the NFL Hall of Fame if you ask me.

tarkenton's season-ending injury doomed this team.

Just why did the Vikings lose those 4 superbowls, well against KC they were overconfident and made one mistake after another and really they had no running game and Kapp wasn't no pure passer and KC defense was hugely underrated. Ok next up Miami in 73? Seriously who could beat that team? NO one in the NFC that team was even better than the 72 team was. The next one Pitts, I thought the vikes would win this one or their best shot, but pitts defense again was just better and they couldn't stop Franco at all. Next one against the Raiders, no way vikes defense was too old, and Raiders chewed them up. I hate to say it but Rams choked the NFC championship away more than the vikes won that one. I thought the 75 Vikes were the best but Cowboys and that I cant even say it. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The Vikings was tough in the 1970s...I have respect for the past and current Vikings cuz they're winners to me without a championship.

This was the beginning of the end of the vikings being a great team despite the super bowl losses they were a fixture in the playoffs from the late 60s to the late 70s..

The Vikings were growing very old. It was Super unlikely that the Vikings even made the Super Bowl the previous year.

My Vikes ! ⭐️ THEY BROKE MY HEART like FREDO ....I followed them since I was 6 in 1969 and gave up after the last heartbreak in 2009 🌪 40 years was enough 🐝Classic memories of all my beautiful purple garb I wore to school every season ⭐️Chuck Foreman wins one of those 3 SB in his first 4 seasons, he’s in the HOF !

"Some felt defensive tackle Alan Page was more interested in studying law rather than creating new ways to dismantle sweeps. Number 88 would overrule such testimony"

"Two Minute Tommy" and the miracle comeback at SF.... Yes I remember that one!

Maybe the Vikes' 42-10 win over the Bengals, with Tark having his best game, would have been the spark needed to make them truly competitive in the playoffs, but when Fran got hurt late in the game, their chances of winning it all diminished very quickly..

Minnesota was my favorite NFL team growing up in the 70s and and 80s. Nothing better than watching the purple people eaters and Fran scrambling around in the backfield driving defenses crazy. I only wish Minnesota had won at least one superbowl while Fran was there. They had some really great teams, but so did Pittsburgh and Oakland.

No doubt about it, this was a great team. The Vikings from 1969 to 1977. They were regulars in the playoffs. Thanks for the memories of this great team!

The Vikings advance to the NFC championship game, although they weren't a particularly strong team in 77, with or without Tarkenton..

Thank you for posting these, as a Lions fan I just love to watch old yearbooks even on division rival teams. I got the 1982 Minnesota Vikings yearbook saved on my computer because that was the year the Vikes moved into the Metrodome for the first time.

I am an old Vikings fan. Thanks for the memories Randy. Watched them from 1968 to 1998. Yes they never made it back to the big game after this group broke up, although the 1998 team with Randy Moss, Robert Smith, etc. did come close.

I was at the week 9 game against the Bengals with my father, I was 8 years old. I remember Tarkenton getting injured right in front of me as we were sitting about mid field. I was crushed.... Pretty cool seeing Kramer throw his first TD... Great memories with Dad.
