What if I told you that you could mix while you were recording? Would you do it? Being able to use effects while you’re recording can help make your artist more comfortable in front of the microphone and also save you a lot of time during the mixing process. Your clients will be able to leave the studio with a rough mix that won’t take you too long after they finish the initial recording because you would have been applying effects the whole time you are recording.
Here are some of the best practices to make sure that the results are desirable and you don’t have any problems while recording using any effects. This demonstration was done in ProTools, but it can be used in any DAW that you choose to use, including Logic, Pro X, Studio One, FL Studio, or any others.

He ain’t lying, you can literally do this with a cheap USB mic & get some nice real-time monitoring, (I know because I was using a razor siren usb on my PC when the avantone mic broke😂 but I got an Aston mic coming in soon tho Lmao) & for any indepent artist you will save hella Cash & Time just investing in a condenser mic, interface, & Experience in a DAW( former FL Studio user, Current Studio One 6 user, not too familiar with pro tools but it’s not Foreign to me)
No BS though, Watching short videos like these, buying 2 or 3 waves plugins(some effects that you just can’t seem to get the hang of the Stock Versions), Get some acoustic treatment(blankets work just as fine Tbh), Plus Leasing Beats & copping a couple vocal templates will get you a long way. Plenty of ways to find best settings for each effect, BPM/Keyfinders, reverb/delay calculators, Nah Fr tho, keep some songs in the Vault, Release them in a strategic manner, Use TuneCore or something like that to have a little leverage when /IF you ever decide to sign a Deal, with a lil bit of persistence discipline & dedication I believe anybody could be a Millionaire, anybody reading this

Hello Wavy, thanks for these tips. 👍🏻🙏🏻 But wouldn’t the better way using effects while recording be using Audio Interfaces with a built-in processor that makes it possible not to cause latency in the DAW, like the Antelope interfaces, e. g. Zen-series, the Apogee Boom, Symphony, etc., or the UA-interfaces, and a lot more. Tell me if I‘m wrong.
Hey GAD, those types of workflows will either only allow you to monitor the effects or print them to your audio signal. Using the effects inside the DAW allows further manipulation I. The future without being committed to the sound during recording.

Never new plug ins had latency options on em. gems
As the producer artist and engineer, It’s the only way I can make music. Processing my vocal chain 1st then recording and mixing, by the bar or 4 bar block, IF the song is wrote. Freestyling the song is a different beast.

I only have 1 HW buffer size in my PT and thats 512 i think, so i record with low latency monitoring on and have 2 audio tracks.. 1 with processing and another without for recording and once i have a good take in my dry recording track i drag it up to my processed track

Hey I just started recording recently and I got a lot of things figured out and stuff but one thing I cannot get around is I think my interface is making a poppin sound I use a scarlet any chance u have a fix ? I tried to adjust my buffer size and stuff of that sort but nothing is working
Get a better interface. Look into the RME babyface, I used to use a scarlet too when I started

🚨🚨 “you cannot change an inserts bypass stage while its track is in low latency mode”
I’m recording thru my uad console with a neve and compressor. Yet on my pro tools track I’m trying to record with auto tune pro yet every time I enable track all my plug ins become bypassed on that track… I need help, please and thank you… what I have quoted above is what pops up on my pro tools screen 🚨🚨
You can turn this setting off in the settings/top of pro tools. Hopefully you fixed it 7 months later
