What i love about ur tutorials is u always make an effort to show the difference when ur comparing two things: like the close and far placement from the microphone. Really helped me alot with my recordings and mixes
You don't know me but I've been following you since you were putting music out on soundcloud. I've always been a fan of you just in general. I don't know if you remember this but there was a contest you did that I won. You sent me your album weirdo kidd as well as some leather shoestrings. I still have those shoe strings. I haven't worn them til this day. To see you evolve is so inspiring to those who continue to follow you. Your spirit is one of a kind. Your a phenomal teacher. May God continue to use you.
first tip blew my mind bro. i was about to skip it! like duh, turn it down, got it... THEN i listened Thank you for going to school so i didnt have to 😂 Make another song with Witt Lowry tho! Love you D
Man I been recording vocals into my SM7b close af for the past 4 years😭😭😭 taking out 6-10 db of low end through EQ and multi band trying to get everything to not sound boomy. This really helped me. Thank you man! Great stuff!
Great advice Devon! Techincally in the first part is bringing down the gain rather than the volume. Some DAW have that already built in them like analogue desks used to have.
Again, you're a complete production GEM Bro! I've got a playlist titled HMD. Just for your videos! I've deleted all other playlists and only kept the ones with tutorials on of the DAWS I'm working with and Maschine Plus. Other than that, HMD all the way!
Thx Dev!! Another trick fr mic placement. slightly off center the mic to the side fr de essing. Angulate it . Especially if the material has a lot of sssss n sibilance
Valuable information, I most definitely encountered this problem...for the life of me when I had Pro Tools first, I thought I was trippin when clip gain was not available lol...thank your Devvon🙏
I'm using a dbx 286s preamp to -10db. so what you're doing is turning-up your audio-interface while looking at your master-fader inside your DAW. (I think?) That clipping part is a life-saver indeed, because I had no idea what was happening until now... Thanks
Man this is so helpful. Have you posted any videos about setting up your room for optimal vocal recording? Will def be checking out more of your tutorials. Much respect!
bro you just blew my fucking mind WHY HAS NOBODY EVER SAID THIS BEFORE!!! THANKYOU!! Im subscribed and like every tutorial i see! keep grindin bro! You're dope af it would be a shame and a loss to music if you ever stopped! #Salute!
this is huge, i think ppl, including myself, have been waiting for videos more about recording and the whole process. personally, i'd love to see more of these - from mic position (on/off axis, positioning towards the body, etc.), monitoring, latency, treatment, dealing with home environments, i'm sure you have gems about all of these and prob more 😁
This Is something you've covered in previous videos. But you compiled them together short & sweet for new followers! this video made me realize how much I've learned over the couple years following you.. Thanks mane, I got a couple templates too! keep your system rollin bro 💎
Great video, man. This was really helpful. But one thing I've been really struggling with lately is that when I'm recording my vocals, I keep speaking louder to the mic, I've tried to speak slow but it feels like it's taking away the elements from my vocals, would really appreciate your tips on this.
I heard this man voice and I was like, holy shit lol also thanks for the help DEVVOOOOONNNNNNN MUCH LOVE AND KEEP KILLIN IT. I'm new to the channel and hope to learn how to produce my music better, so thank you hella

if you do the gain stage at the beginning of your mix which is basic, you avoid clipping etc
first tip blew my mind bro. i was about to skip it! like duh, turn it down, got it... THEN i listened
Thank you for going to school so i didnt have to 😂 Make another song with Witt Lowry tho! Love you D
Lmaoo I knew people were gonna over look that one that’s why I was like WAIITTTTTT!!
The clip gain feature is exactly what I utilize every single time 💯
Yes that works! also ableton has the utility function that you can turn it down from
@@HelpMeDevvon FL STUDIO doesn’t have this function
@@laquincyjohnson2321 put a plugin on your very first insert with all settings not boosted then turn it down from there
