if you insist on contaminating beavers rather than building platforms at least put food and water near the decontamination pods. They have to walk very very slowly back to those all the time rather than getting decontaminated. Contaminating them all also pulls all your haulers from their jobs (as their jobs are set to low priority so the haulers become builders, who get contaminated) which crashes your economy as haulers carry twice as much and prevent the workers from stopping working. It's one of the big reasons "the incident" happened.
Biffa, you need to check your paths, the route from the Mine to the Industrial area is going via the District Centre, when if you add a few paths and a couple of ladders you could have a much more direct path. Also you can build any of the Platforms on top of Shafts, the shafts can pass through the legs, so if you need to be more economical with space you can put a trench in and run power through under the paths. Even better if you need to run water too, you can have water passing through the shaft/Platform combo. It's a great space saver if you need it.
Agreed on the more direct connection. I don't think you could always place platforms on things like shafts but it certainly is a good idea now and allows basically for below street electricity under your paths whereever you want. Biffa sounded like he was aware though but ripping out your paths, digging them out and replacing them with shafts and platforms (and possibly even water) is a bit tedious..
@@kaltaron1284 you can place dynamite on paths now. So provided you don't sever the only path between important bits it's actually really easy. You place the dynamite on all the paths you want, wait till night time (or break off the path ends) Set off the dynamite. Pause Place all your shafts, cover with platforms, then path the platforms. Prioritise the platforms. Hit play. The Beevers will just come and build the whole thing with no micromanaging. They will generally build fast too at least outside urban areas because they can access the entire path so can build in parallel rather than one at a time. They then reach through the platforms to build the shafts. The water flows straight away so make sure you have water management blocks in place first. Don't try running it past the entrance of your town hall though or it turns the entire thing off and you get very confused until you realise you can build a new town hall attached to a path somewhere to fix the problem
Both your industrial area and your mine are a giant cul de sac. You can toss a lot of haulers at the problem, but a more efficient path network would be better. When you build the giant water wheels and connected them to the industrial site with power shafts, you could have also connected both areas with a path which you didn't. While power gets to travel the short route, any materials needed to expand the power area has to go the long route causing delays and making bots run out of power faster.. If this was cities skylines, you would have seen the giant traffic jams and fixed it ages ago, but timberborn doesn't have traffic jams so it has gone unnoticed. Sidenote: Near the beginning of this series you build a giant ladder from the starting area down to the farm area below the starting plateau. You had a period that you played without the ladder mod and that made all ladders dissapear. To this day that ladder is still missing
There is no (theoretical) maximum of power the water wheels can give you. You "just" need more water to flow through. A more direct connection between your industrial zone and the mine along the water wheel zone might be helpful.
Thank you again Biffa for the Saturday chill moment! With ladders you can stack the warehouses "infinitely" a bit easier by always putting platforms in front of the door and a ladder stack next to. This way the path that goes by never gets blocked .
I think a "beaver retreat" would be nice. Like a couple of houses with lots of decorations and well-being stuff around. Maybe even a little forest and a waterfall to give it vibes!
Biffa, now that you've pretty much nailed the basics of the game, I think your next goal is to terraform and make it pretty, just like you do in Cities Skylines, do proper layouts and have separate sections for Housing, Food production, Industrial and farms. It's a big goal but I think the next step is to do something grand, there's this one youtuber named Barthak who does really amazing builds on Timberborn but he has disappeared and haven't made anything for more than a year now. Maybe you can get inspiration on how he layers the housing and stuff. I think it'd be worth a watch. Now that Update 6 is officially out, I'm sure we're all looking forward to what other things you can do on your next colony.
As usual you had me giggling!! Your mind works so fast it almost explodes mine! Great ideas today🤩 Really enjoyed it. We got electricity yesterday after 15 days. Celebrating hot water!!
I think you already know this but Fun fact: the more pressure you have(1 block water line) the faster the water wheels will spin (to create more energy) love your vids biffa❤
just finished watching the entire timberborn playthroughs, keep it up; Love it It managed to encourge myself to start playing the game, so using some of your experience, i am giving it a try myself
Set the Scrap metal storage near the smelter factories to prioritize by haulers, so haulers will fetch scrap closer to the smelters so your workers don't need to walk across the map to get materials.
you know if rotate the large wheels to the support shaft on of the outside you can have a single 4 wide channel and you would have saved a lot of wood on levees, also water that is 1.01 tiles deep will power wheels if only 0.01 water touches the wheel as as well an 1.01 touching btw if you run bad water on the ground to can get rid of contamination by putting a metal floor on the ground inside the channel
Don’t forget to make another number cruncher before you place any more control towers! Each number cruncher makes 10 science per hour, and each control tower uses 3 science per hour, so you only have a 1 science per hour surplus right now.
Biffa, you keep making new workplaces, when you already have over 30 workplaces with no workers! It may be worth going through and identifying what jobs you can eliminate. Any resources that have completely filled their storage (like extract and eggplant) is likely being overproduced, and you can probably reallocate a couple beavers from those jobs to making something that’s underproduced.
I'd love to see a complete revamp on industry it's a mess put it on platforms above water wheels so it can be stacked food on one level other industry above
Now you should look into going around and capping the Badwater sources. With the Iron Teeth I think those sources can be kept flowing even during a drought. constant power.
Hey Biffa, water is weird in this game, your channels flood because they end in a single tile 'edge' if you add a single square overhang after the end of the channel it creates 3 'edges' for the water to fall off and stops the channel flooding. 👍
for the waterwheels, the value it gives you isn't a MAXIMUM, it's a straight-up equation. the power the big ones provide is 270hp PER cms, so at 1 cubic meter per second of water flow rate, you'll get 270 hp out of the wheel. if you double the water speed, you'll get 540hp.
I may be mistaken, but it looked like there was space to build a ladder next to Holly. So... maybe she could have been saved? With the new water tanks on the storage platforms, how long until you begin dynamiting the bottom of the reservoir underneath to its maximum depth to hold even more water? And now that Overcharged Egg has started posting Timberborn content, how long until we have a 3B/1 BeaverColony challenge with you, him and CPP passing around the save file?
I would like to see you take water to the desert lands and turn them desert into farm lands maybe you could show us how you could do that if you don’t mind thank you for the amazing content
Can't remember if you did or not. If not you should make sure to employ bots in the bot part factories and assembler, 1 assembler with a lvl 2 bot can maintain about 90 bot population if you make sure they never run out of materials.
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Then make sure they are prioritised by haulers aswell, so that the factory workers never have to leave to get supplies. You should be able to maintain a higher ammount of bots that you have atm.
how far are you from making water caps - is it possible you could make your next big project to be to make the entire map fertile and ensure your bad tides and droughts are automatically handled?
You've got almost 40 vacant jobs between beavers and bots. With all of the 'extra' hauling jobs at low priority your production is slowing down everywhere.
If you're ripping out the waterwheels anyway, why not blast out the channels before rebuilding them? Maybe the walls were easier, faster or cheaper than blasting those channels?
Perfect timing, settling down to watch Biffa shenanigans with a cuppa (coffee, sorry I'm a heathen and don't like tea) and a Rich Tea for dunking and my morning is complete 🙂
I'm only partway into this ep, a week late, and I'm dying. Putting charging pods down for that one lumber bot (in stead of just swapping that one job back to a normal bot) but then putting down the wrong power generator. In stead of the wood burning one you were intending to use, you accidently picked the one that used 4 beavers to power it. So 4 beavers to power one bot. And I was crying from laughter when a minute later, there was that one beaver you wanted to give a job, that suddenly just found one as you saw him, and I immediately knew he'd be the first of 4 that would power that one bot 😂😂😂

12:08 "Holly East died of hunger" because Biffa didn't want to waste logs to build a ladder that could have easily saved it. Hail Overlord Biffa.

Oh....well....this is embarrassing 😅
He couldn't be bothered to build 1 ladder or stairs to save you…
tis but a mini incident. XD unlike RCE he's already on the brink of death 2 episodes in lol
I know I say it a lot, but this is the highlight of Saturday mornings. Thanks for keeping us entertained, Biffa!
I second this.
Thankyou so much 😊

0:44 270 hp/cms. So for every cms of flow, you get 270 hp output power. Increases in flow results in increases power.
