    In this video I restored an old 'Gustav Barthel 131' Blowtorch, which my friend Mister Patina gave me!
    Attention: These old blowtorches are very dangerous if not handled correctly! If you don't heat them up properly the gasoline doesn't evaporate and will get pushed out burning out of the front. It can actually shoot the gasoline a couple of meters, so trust me: you don't want that to happen.
    I absolutely do NOT recommend actually using these things. If you do, please be careful.
    If you are willing to support me leave a comment, subscribe and share my work, I really appreciate and it helps me a lot!
    I hope you will have some fun watching the video! If you have any further questions on the process, tools, material or else write a comment, I will try my best to answer your questions.
    I hope you liked the video! Thank you for watching and feel free to leave a comment and subscribe if you liked :)
    Disclaimer:
    The experiments are only for educational purposes and serve as entertainment.
    I am experienced in handling the used substances and I advise everyone who is not a trained professional not to imitate the experiments I show you.
    For experiments which could cause potential danger I will not tell you which chemicals I am using to prevent imitating. Those who know what is happening, know the chemicals anyway and probably are trained professionals. :)
    I am not responsible for personal injury or property damage if any actions shown in the video will be imitated.
    I hope you understand.
    Until next time :)

    I have one of those old blowtorches (not that exact model). I have no intention of ever trying to make it work 😬, but it looks great on the workshop shelf!
    Always good to see your videos! 😊

      Yeah this one will also just sit on the shelf, they can really be dangerous and I think that’s nit really worth it 😄 Thank you so much for your support!

    Si no se le da presion como funciona

    • @DrHutOfHandcraft
      @DrHutOfHandcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the small ones you don’t need to build up pressure yourself. The Gasoline gets through a gasifying chamber and when you preheat it it evaporates. The capillary effect sucks up more gasoline and the evaporated gasoline gets pushed out by the pressure built up through the whole process

  • @roccocroce

    alright... How are you getting such good coverage and consistency with your blaster? I've tried a few different types of media and pressures. What kind of pickup are you using? PSI / Media / Gun ?? AHhhhh help. Great video as always

    • @DrHutOfHandcraft
      @DrHutOfHandcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh man, I also had huge problems with my blaster and it took me a lot of time to fix it..
      make sure that your blasting medium is really dry and that you are using a water seperator (no idea if that is the correct term in english), even if your air compressor has one integrated. Then Try to make the way from the compressor to the cabinet as short as possible, so you have less loss of pressure. Between my compressor and the cabinet I have two air hoses with the water seperator in between.
      But the biggest problem i actually had was with the gun, the one that I got with my cabinet was just crap and They sent me a new one. Maybe try a different gun and your problems will be gone, for me at least that was the main problem.
      I mostly use glass beads 100-200 μm . But that is really fine, almost like powder. Probably will go up to 300-400 μm next time when I will order new medium. And for pressure it about 6-7 bar (80-100 psi ?)
      I hope could help you, let me know if you have further questions!

    Hi Dr. Hut, can you sandblast every metal?

    • @DrHutOfHandcraft
      @DrHutOfHandcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah basically, as far as I know. As long as you don’t sandblast sodium 😄 Jk, well steel of course and fir soft metals like aluminium copper and Brass it’s better to use fine glass beads rather than corundum. I think I read somewhere that when sandblasting thin sheet metal of soft materials you could theoretically kind if “compact” the material. But I have no idea about that
