Love how he’s constantly gas lighting himself into thinking he’s losing (though yes he at times is in a disadvantageous situation)
He drew 6 perfect development cards and got great rolls. His position was bad.
Sure, getting a mono was huge in his spot, but his starting setup wasn't bad by any means. With the mono the setup is just ridiculously good.
@@alexandernater6284 His setup was in fact bad though. He got extremely lucky.
he just got super super lucky here with everything to still win.
and it sounds like he is gaslighting like this very often because he actually dont talks a lot about his winning positions.
he then only affirms when the lobby says it.
@@Ohrami Please tell us more about what's so bad about having 22 pips with access to 3 great ports.
In a game of exponential growth, sometimes you have to use that mono early to get ahead.
Unfortunately, being ahead early is rarely a good thing. The big advantage of the mono is that you don't need to get ahead until very late in the game.
@@alexandernater6284 Catan is mostly won 3 ways imo:
1) Getting ahead early with an unblock able position (often OWS with two hexes of each, or 2:1 port with great city on corresponding hexes).
2) Stealing the game last minute with mono, sneaky longest road steal and VPs in hand, etc.
3) Having stars align in the middle game allowing 1 player to claim longest road and largest army, or have insane VP luck.
I think with mono, the best you can do is try to extract value out of it, no matter when that moment comes. Some boards give you the luxury of waiting and being greedy (when a resource is overly abundant based on pips and how cities/settlements develop).
What a turn around. That mono pulled you right back into the game for sure.

I say it Everytime it happens. You had perfect devs and in a fantastic order. Mono 3 knights and 2 vps. Those devs alone should net 6 points worth of value.

8510 was a great spot for third. I'm surprised you didn't do it. 2 ports if you can get on the 8 port. I'm just really surprised you with with 845. Guess it didn't matter, but you talk yourself out of good plans and strats.

It's not awful at all. It's really good double port and under the radar
it was only good because he got that 8 ore mono and the fast settles.

blues placement was god awful. And yeah I agree you should definitely have gone 4/9/11. Double wheat is such a cool play style, always get trades... unblockable wheat... love it
I respect Dylans opinions on this game but it baffles me how he immediately missed that 5-8-10 pointing to the wheat port when hes on the 8 wheat is obviously, glaringly the best first position on the board. Did he really think the 2 ore and 1 wood spot is better?

Thats why there should be no monopoly card in catan. It gives too much power to the player. And it adds more coincidence.

I think the lack of 10s definitely hurt his dev game. Getting to a 3:1 would have helped for sure.
ports are mega sweet but that doesn't mean your best play is always to sprint to a port first. 6-2 and 5-6-11 are 100% first 2 objectives for black on this board

Mono is super op
Absolutely no chance of you having used that monopoly to mono sheep, trade 4 sheep for 2 bricks, another 2 for a wood, double road to the 5 6 11, and drop a settlement.
Zero chance of that happening.
Why would his opponents give him such perfect trade deals?
That would be a terrible waste of the mono in this position.
