Excellent idea for a very rotten post! I have an idea. If you had converted to metal posts, which are smaller in diameter, perhaps you wouldn’t have had to clean the hole out as well. Then you would just need a small amount of concrete to add into the square hole around the round post. Plus metal posts last longer. Thank you for making the video!

👏👏👏 hahahaha funny thing is , im in the process of replacing my 6x6 fence posts that have roted out same thing , i bought a 3 inch ring and plate , plus i use the 4-5/8 boring bit to flatten the old wood , just until I can hit solid , then drill the ring/plate with 6 inch structure screw , and use the chain with a 6 feet plus steel rod , a few blocks under one end , and for the most part , they just slide right up , but the ones that are extremely rotten , i use the drill method with the 2 inch ridgid vacuum , then i use the fence post foam to fill up the voids , and finish up like you , so far so good , and save hundreds of dollars per post , i called a fence installer , 2 years ago they wanted 450 per post , i have 14 to do , even spending 600 for 10 foot 6x6 posts , plus the drill bits and vacuum plus cement and foam , i still haven't spent 1000 dollars 🙏🤞👍 , great job , and great video

Well done, looks easy when the old post is dry and rotton all the way through,I have a similar problem with the post just snapped off level with the ground and the wood below is still good,I've had this before and its a pain chiseling the post out, still looking for a easier way to do it.

Well done. Any suggestions for where the timber post is in excellent condition? I don't want to remove the concrete - just the wood.

Nice, wonder is back filling with a type of high strength epoxy would've saved some time and made for a stronger connection

Next time you can put some play sand around the edge gap - it will work down with any movement and totally tighten the fit

@@MrJLee-ri3so you can't treat the wood that goes in the ground. Burning it a bit would seal it.

You can get 10 bags of concrete for $50. Sure. But you aren't gonna get someone out there to break or pull out existing concrete and set new posts in concrete for $50. You're gonna pay big bucks for labor and if they are licensed and bonded and offer their employees benefits, that gets the price up even more.
