He couldn't find a job for which he qualified for. And the reason he was always given was a DEI hire had to be made. He finally found a job that nothing to do with the 7 year program we paid for. • @lyianx
      @lyianx 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thats the wrong take. College isnt overrated, but it also isnt the path that *everyone* should take. It all really depends on what career you are looking to get. Once you have a few careers in mind, you have to look at the job market For those careers and see how likely will it actually be that you will GET a job in one of those fields once you finish training (be that tech school, college, or whatever).
      In that respect (as @catsspat eluded to), If you are going for a Doctorate, be DAMN sure that what you are getting it in, will have opportunities that will allow you to put that doctorate to use. I know someone who didnt do this, got a doctorate in a field of education that was *extremely* limited, just because she enjoyed the work that career *would* have brought.
      "Following your dreams" sounds like good advice in theory, but you have to be realistic about obtaining them. Remember that Nobody else gives a damn about YOUR dreams, so they are under no obligation to help you make them a reality (ie they dont have to give you a job just because you want it).

      @smoresrock 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      In all fairness, he did verify that men are generally stronger than women by analyzing historical Olympic data. I heard it in his interview with Piers Morgan.
      The issue arises when he attempts to reconcile that with patronizing gender fluidity, which is how he came up with the "example" of sorting athletes based on "hormone ratios," which you could imagine would mandate an absurd amount of testing to ensure fairness. 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @FUGP72
      @FUGP72 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@smoresrock You can't say in fairness, and then say "HE wasn't a TOTAL wacko on one instance," while also showing he IS a total wacko on a related one.
      IT is still a HUGE advantage to a biological male to go through puberty, build all that muscle mass, and then decide he wants to take Shania Twain's Man, I Feel Like a Woman song a little too seriously. Even if eventually they get their hormone level down below some level. It is much easier to maintain muscle mass than it is to build it. So anyone who went through puberty as a male should not play against women. And since common sense tells common sensical people that prepubescent kids should not transition, then every biological male should go through puberty as a male. So they are out of luck.
      Again, this is something that even a TV scientist should know. Every one of these men who have played against women and have dominated after being awful against men would qualify under TV Scientist's criteria. They all have low enough testosterone. And yet clearly they still have a HUGE advantage.

I strongly believe there needs to be a fundamental shift in education in our country. Instead of holding a few careers or roles in society to be superior and trying to train everyone to get as close to that as possible, I think our educational systems should focus instead on allowing young people to find out where their strengths lie, and TEACH THEM that there is dignity and satisfaction to be found in being the best version of YOURSELF that you can be.

    Excellent interview. I have to agree that we have to get back to the norm and reestablish what is actually true, as in the example of "the fringe." The country has polarized itself on both opposite sides of the political spectrum. We need to meet back in the middle, recognizing that compromise, between both parties, is when America is at it's best.

    I am so heartened to hear this sentiment. The fact we have vilified working with your hands AND brain in this country over the last 40 years in favor of a purely thought based skills has been criminal. Well meaning as intended as it was the outcome left swaths of youth struggling at the alter of the SAT.
    In the rush to catch up with European education (starting in the 80’s) we eschewed physical skills, something that used to be referred to as the “manual arts”, in favor of a degree for every student. The thought being every kid needed a white collar, when a blue one was just as valuable and for some even more so.
    Thank you to both of these men for there much needed light.

      I was a senior Director in a very large company, retired early. My son wanted to go to a Tech school to get his certifications for IT work rather than a 4 year university. I was livid. So I went to my company’s CTO for help. He told me to “leave him alone, he would much rather hire a kid like my son whose been doing the work for 2 years than a College kid who’s gonna have to be trained for a year to get to my son’s level.” 25 years later, my son’s done well, raised 3 kids (2 with degrees).
      It’s all about work ethic, learned proficiency and determined grit to be the best at whatever you choose to do. I’ve developed 100’s of leaders and honestly, non-degreed lead degreed by at least a 2-1 margin in effectiveness. They just seem to want it more.

At the time my work ethic never helped me achieve or grow in any of these companies. It always seemed that there was something that I was not privy too. Now I am beginning to understand. "Woke" in various forms and iterations goes back decades.

      "Now I am beginning to understand. "Woke" in various forms and iterations goes back decades."
      Looking back over the years, I can agree with your observation.
      People seem to want you to know things, without anyone ever having specifically, taught or informed you of those things.
      After several years of being disabled, I've come to view a commonly used phrase as being the most glaring tell of hate speech.
      That phrase is; "That's common sense".
      I see it as hate speech because that individual is claiming to know something, that he or she is unwilling to disseminate knowledge they have, with those that do not have that knowledge, and is choosing to leave them ignorant and repeating mistakes.
      There is no love in not advising a person when the actions they take out of ignorance, is what is preventing them from moving forward.

      @@scotttovey You make a great point about the importance of sharing knowledge to inform and enlighten others, it is important, especially when asked, and critical if training is your job. I have a difficulty, though with classifying the phrase above as "hate speech". To me that is implying an intentional, nefarious disregard for another that may just be a passing comment between two people. If you have been asked, or left in the dark intentionally that is bad, and yes, I could understand your view.

    I was a recruiter for a law firm. I was interviewing these kids (graduates from law school that had just passed the bar exam) that had gone to college, then on to law school, graduated, passed the bar, and only THEN did they learn that there are more lawyers than there is a need for lawyers. We have a 10X surplus of lawyers. I had these kids that had a quarter of a million dollars in law school debt, and they are delivering pizzas for Domino's. They didn't realize that every day that passed since they graduated lowered the probability that they would get a job in law. These kids were totally divorced from reality. They thought that, soon, very soon, they would get a job at a great law firm...and they would be the hero of their own story. When my boss gave them the option of working with his firm, and do the majority of their own marketing, they were shocked and offended that he would even ASK them to be responsible for their own marketing.

I paid for my education by serving the nation in the military and received the GI Bill benefits. Point, I served and in return received govt help. I took this risk during the Vietnamese war at great personal risk. Point 2, I chose to get a degree that resulted in full employment that benefited the country, not a liberal arts degree. Not all college degrees are equal. Fortunately for me, I was not exposed social manipulation, I was exposed to engineering and associated real science. Guess what, I’m highly successful. College ain’t bad, but certain college degrees are. Time to clean up our colleges to curtail useless degrees

    Great Episode, Mike.
    You coined a word at the end of the video that struck a chord and prompted a question. "Saftey-ism" - regulation to protect everyone from "perceived" consequences, or to make things right. The Question: how can a government, or a society, regulate or legislate what is safe or right when the pervasive societal norms refuse to accept, or completely deny, absolute truth? In philosophy, the "both/and" argument must always yield to an ultimate "either/or" argument. "Saftey-ism" is a desperate attempt to force the "both/and" argument while subverting - or completely ignoring - the "either/or" argument that will certainly emerge.

    Vivek is correct. A four-year degree is not the best path for most people. We need to go back to when we had liberal arts high schools, as well as trade high schools. Many young people would prefer to start learning computer skills, welding skills, chef skills, etc., at a trade high school, rather than learning Latin, French, etc., in preparation for a four-year liberal arts college. Only 25% of high school students are interested in spending four years in college, after high school. Most prefer to learn on the job.

That disqualifies me from almost all jobs but it's about what's best for America and all Americans not me. I also think you can be the smartest and have the most merit, but if your if you can't seem to no the difference between right, and wrong, enjoy doing evil, or if gaining power, fame, and wealth, for yourself at the expense of others suffering is your top priority, than maybe CEO, politician, or leader is not a good thing for that person. Even if their the most merited of all time, or the media says they are. Perhaps honesty, charity as in the scriptures verson of charity, a desire to do the right thing, might factor into one's merit.
