Hi friend. You can check for current consumption while motor is running. You can test for Voltage. You can do visual observation. You can feel the temperature of the motor as well. It all depends on the characteristics of the fault that you are searching.
When you were doing Insulation resistance test, why did you 400Megaohms instead of 500megaohms coz what I know is that a single phase motor supplied at 230 we double the voltage and we get 460 so the closest scale is 500megaohms scale..... Please correct me
Think of electrical wires as plastic water pipes. The current and voltage going through the wire, as water pressure going through the pipes. Ohmmeter is checking the ability of the wires to withstand current. Or ability of water pipes to withstand water pressure
