    Awesome video. Classic paper Jepp Charts. Stunning how technology has changed pretty much everything. Glad to have ran across this.

    so glad i got to fly on a delta 10-11, one of my favorite airlines back in the day, they also had some of the best pilots, the widget livery was the best, i also flew on one of delta's oldest 767's, if i remember the number was 101DA or something like that, i have it in my records somewhere.

    thanks for the great video. brings back good memories from my youth. I'm glad they took down the plant right before 26R, makes for a much better ride on short final

    A/C is N755DL. The tan colored Sat-Phone at the aft end of the pedestal is the dead giveaway. It can be seen at 7:48 and was the only DL L-1011 with it.

    Oh how I remember the days I worked the L-1011. ATL-FRA many times and after the purchase of Pan Am routes I worked the L-1011 on many destinations an an LOD flight attendant. As I speak several languages.

    The only L1011-500 I ever flew on was a Delta bird in July 1982 from ATL-FRA. Was on the same day Clipper 759 crashed in New Orleans.

    Oh how I wish I was in the pre 9/11 days and I could get into the cockpit and film the full flight. Especially when it is an L-1011.

    I like the "3 feet", "2 feet" radio altimeter callouts. You don't get that level of feedback anymore with the modern automated system.

    What year was this filmed?

    • @stnickwoods
      @stnickwoods 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This plane was active from 1980-2001. From the video quality and cockpit wear, I would guess early 90s.
      Edit: This was filmed in 1995.

      @@stnickwoods thank you so much, Nick. That's exactly what I wanted to know.
      I'm curious how you came to find the exact year of filming? I thought maybe I could spot an expiration date on the approach plate they showed to get a rough estimate of the year but the quality of the video wasn't good enough.

      time for rubber removal. they do it pretty often at a high traffic airport. Like every couple of weeks. Smaller airport or less used runway might do it yearly. They use high pressure water mixed with some chemicals that strips it off. They'll remove thousand of pounds of rubber. I worked in airfield management so got to see it done.
