That air traffic controller is the most eloquent I’ve ever heard.😊
which one? Radar? Tower? I agree tough
@@rikusbenecke2122 Radar.
Radar guy was enjoying himself ..bossed the shift
Now that I've flown all over the world, having spent years flying in South Africa - South African ATC, you are AWESOME. Crisp, clear, , standard, concise. Love it. I'm biased, but objectively, having faced so much unintelligible garbage the world over, you have an excellent standard of controlling.
And thankfully, I'm finding South African ATC all over the world too now.
I worked Joburg approach for more than 20 years but moved to Australia almost 7 years ago. Watching this video made me a little home sick. I miss the way we used to work in ZA. If ever you’re on an Adelaide approach frequency and you hear a Saffa it’ll be me. Say howzit 🤙🏻
@Nienpet Will do - I operated to Brisbane last month, if I get an Adelaide I'll be listening out. Ja, even when it was busy in the Jhb TMA with everybody dodging storms, you guys and girls still made it feel slick and easy. Maybe I was just used to it, but other places seem to....overcomplicate everything.
Shrike this isn't an ATC question but I read somewhere that southern Africa offers the best weather conditions for flying. Is this true.
I want to attain my PPL. I live in UK but too expensive here so I plan go home and either do it in Zim, Botswana or SA
Then plan on getting a 4 seater for private use across the region
Thanks
It depends, I'm doing my Integrated CPL in SA right now, at the coast (Gqeberha) and the weather is not that good, so if you want to get stuff done quickly, go for someplace inland. That said, here at the coast, you'll get more realistic weather if you plan to go back home to the UK once you're finished, since it's fairly similar.@@tindo9833
@@tindo9833
Hi Tindo.
I did my PPL and CPL out of Lanseria just outside Johannesburg.
Weather conditions are very good for learning to fly most of the time. Summer afternoons run the risk of thunderstorms. Winter brings with it high pressure and poor visibility but no clouds. All in all you won’t have many weather delays to your training.
What I would suggest, though, is to avoid the bigger centres in South Africa. You spend a lot of time (and then money) taxiing around busy airports and waiting for your turn in the queue. There are smaller airports with flying schools where your time is spent more in the air than on the ground and that’s a good thing.
Good luck 🫡
Johannesburg ATC doing an AMAZING job!
Fun fact, the ATC at FAOR get training at FAWB and let me tell you, if you can ATC at FAWB you can ATC in the busiest airport around the world.
Thanks for that information 👍
@@ZavierBrewer Wow I am such an aviation fan and did not even know that. Thanks for that intel.
@@ZavierBrewerfun fact - not true
@@ACEMAN69how do u know
Joburg ATC is superb. wow! Would love to see a Cape Town version of this amazing series you do. Congrats!
Thanks for your comment 🙏 maybe one day!
I'm told very few international flights that land here since COVID, so that's unlikely to happen any time soon 😞
Must say it feels odd but very gratifying to hear SA accents in TH-cam videos if they aren't posted by South Africans 😝
@@christopherbedford9897 No, Cape Town operations are pretty much back to normal.
@@christopherbedford9897 it's back to pre-COVID levels pax-wise, borderline pre-COVID in terms of aircraft movements
One of the most informative videos on youtube, thx for all the ATC comms, landing charts , overlay of 777.
Thanks to you for your comment 🙏
@@INZEAIR84 Agreed. Excellent video! 1 suggestion, for me at least, I'd like it if you didn't have hard cuts, but perhaps use time lapse to fill in the gaps that you're currently cutting out.
For everyone saying that we need longer videos, I agree that longer videos are always better than short videos, but don’t forget that editing requires time and the man probably need some rest and probably have some other things to do when he gets home 😉 be grateful for what you have - soyez content de ce que vous avez. Sinon super vidéo comme d’habitude Yann !
Merci pour ton message ! Mais comment connais tu mon prénom ?!? 😆
I was on your flight, we landed from Paris on the 22 of September, you did an amazing job landing such a beautiful aircraft
I always learn something new when I watch your videos. I love aviation so much! Great video as always ✈️
Thank you so much for watching all my videos! See you next week 😉
Welcome to Johannesburg. Thank you for flying with us and be prepared to spend four hours getting through passport control. Have a nice day.
😂 they don't have a monopoly on this!
Correction. They do. I live in South Africa
Very true.
@@terminator8334 No they don't DOHA can be a pain
I've never queued as much in Johannesburg as I have entering the USA, especially Miami. Usually through immigration at Johannesburg in under 10 minutes with a British Passport.
Always a joy spotting an A380 😍
One of the best inflight vids I have seen so far. Very nice editing too!
Thank you so much 🙏
Thanks for this great video! The runways at Johannsesburg O.R. Tambo look very long. The altitude at that airport seems similar to that of Denver International Airport in Colorado and that airport has a runway that's 16,000 feet long. It's awesome how aviation and those involved and working in it adapt and work with so many geographical and weather challenges along other factors. It seems that the weather has been challenging in different places in the world lately (first tropical storm in my city in a 100 years). Thank you for your videos and all the hard work that you put in each and every one. You have a real passion for it and it shows!
Thanks for your positive comment 🙏🙏🙏
Johannesburg altitude is 6000 feet.
Joburg is hot and high
My home airport now. Care the CB are coming now, we are going into summer. Fly safe!
Done that flight many times into Jhb. Nice to see the cockpit view
.
Thanks for your comment 🙏
I was a commercial drone pilot, which meant being active on Joburg ATC frequencies. I recognize the voice of the controller :)
love it great to so JNB app, nice taxi into the terminal cheers!!
Thanks to you 🙏
Lovely landing in windy conditions!
Thanks 🙏
The best cockpit view ever thanks man❤❤
Thanks a lot 🙏
Beautiful landing!
I work right there next to the runway that you landed on.
I have landed here more times I can count and was always facinated by takeoff and landings, always booking a window seat. One often take the skills of the pilots for granted. I wish I met them personally.
Nice video, Please less editing next time, the best videos on your channel are the one that are 20 min at least
Very well presented and informative videos. I appreciate your captions, which must take a lot of extra time.
Thanks to you for your post! 1hr editing /min of video 😁
The name of the airport is OR Tambo International Airport. It was called Jan Smuts Airport during the Apartheid regime era
Have flown this flight so many times with AF. Used to be A380s but now 777s I think.

Nice video. Thank you for sharing.
Isn’t it called Jan Smuts airport??
It used to be… Those were the days!
Then it was Johannesburg International before becoming OR Tambo
Ohhh😅 that's Or Tambo international Airport
Awesome video! Great explanations! Keep it up, this will inspire many and make aviation less intimidating!

Superb! Hope to become a pilot one day 😊
Thanks 🙏 Wish you the best 👍
@@INZEAIR84 So from which college did you complete your Commercial Pilot Course?
Nice video “If it ain’t Boeing I ain’t going”

Really awesome how much info you add! Just perhaps get rid of those woosh sounds effects😅 I'm really enjoying the work you're doing, keep it up!❤
Love the videos…. maybe a few with camera just off center of cockpit…. maybe be second channel with longer videos.
Very, very good but with my particular problems it's too much to process 😮
👍👍👍
If, it is the future of singapore-airlines training to eat grub and land like grub... it will be in south-africa. No-grub for the time-being
One flight lesson at a time
👨🏿💻🍿 ATC
Awesom awesom video. Thanks for this. Is it true that JHB is a difficult (advanced) airport to land at?
Absolutely fascinating being to watch and listen in. Was wondering, as part of the landing/ take of procedure, why isnt there a call on the frequency like "AF990 landing now" , at say 500ft? Or "..taking off"
Flights are actually flying themselves nowadays
True, but the pilots still need to be able to fly the aircraft manually if automation fails or in case of emergency.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
As always, very nice. I wonder how the air traffic closer in Niger has impacted air traffic between Western Europe and Southern Africa
Thanks to you 🙏
Great explanation of the process love it.Goid job ATC
Thanks for your comment 🙏
Nice video!
Thanks for your positive comment 🙏
Hello there, great video thanks for sharing. Quick question, in the 777 is there a tiller on the FO side and do you taxi if it was your leg as PF?
Merci...... MAIS ON VEUT DES VIDEOS DE 11H30!!!😂
Good job ❤️👍
Ahah!
Great vid
Thanks 😊
Why the ND didn't have Range Line? And Vertical Situation Display
Great video! Curious what model FACTEM headset do you use ?
Is there the FO's to short or the angle of camera is to high?
When do you know that you have to set gear down ?
Awesome!
I’ve landed there on B737🛬
nice Landing. However something suprised me: When you disengage the AP, you flown from 205+ IAS to 173 IAS without trimming nose up ?? how is that possible as the FBW law of the B777 is the C*U ie speed stable and not path stable like the A320/330/340/350/380 family ? the B777 will only auto trim for flaps changes, thrust changes and in turn, therefore speed change requires manual trim ??
Superbe landing! Vous faites le taxi uniquement sur 1 moteur?
Oui ça arrive, cela permet d'économiser du fuel.
The captions aren't displayed for long enough.
I'll try to make it longer next time 😉
As a fellow south african i just think that this is so sick
Does the airbase APU to taxi 5o the gate when engine power is off?
Why are there no potholes on the runways?
This is the best quality Flight Sim I have seen yet!
Ahah, thank you 🙏
Yep, they even have ATC with South Afrikaan accents!
Agreed!
