My daughter is allergic to sugar and I find keto recipes are about the only thing she can eat, however, it is very very expensive. This means no prepackaged anything. Even the packages that say they have no sugar will have things like corn syrup in it. Even seasoning spices have sugar in it (especially the club house taco mix). So thank you for the budget friendly keto ideas.

    • @jujube2407

Its only expensive if you make it that way! Meat and veggies without all the junk in the middle of the store is sooooo much less to have to buy!

We have a corgi that will literally worship whoever is in the kitchen. If he see’s me or my fiancé even heading that direction, “Ave Maria” starts playing in his little doggy brain and he comes clickety clacking into the kitchen. On the bright side, the kitchen floor does get cleaned regularly.

As a kid my mom would give us “peanut butter spoons” for snacks or for dessert, but I remember taking full jars and just going to town. I’ve always loved peanut butter. To this day I love a spoonful of peanut butter as a snack. I try to be a bit more creative and dunk apple or banana in it but really all I want is the jar and a spoon haha.

I've become super addicted of late, and I try different combos with peanut butter every day, and you kknow what one I recently tried and am surprised it's just sooo goooood?

One of the easiest ways to cut the big squashes, Gourds and melons is to clean out your sink. Place the produce in the sink and proceed to cut. You have better control of the food and the process overall.

A cleaver that you hit with a mallet helps on hard squash.
2 ounces butter is 1/2 a cube or 4 tablespoons.

Try a heavy serrated edge, like a bread knife, and slowly saw it. It's easier. Or a knife and technique you use for watermelon.
You could also microwave it briefly to make it softer.
Chilled onions are easier on the eyes, although the fridge isn't ideal for longterm storage.

On cutting onions: I sometimes prep a kilo or two of onions, so I really have tested tricks to avoid crying. The best one is ventilation - open up windows and set a fan blowing across the cutting board. When you have already started crying, what I do is I wash my hands, wash my face and blow my nose. That seems to lead to a faster recovery. On a long cutting session, I end up using both. I hope it helps.

If you give your squash a stab with a knife and stick it into your microwave for about 12 minutes let is cool, it is easy to slice and remove the seeds, at this point its ready to eat, if you like it a little brown put it into the oven for a little bit.

Keep your onions in the fridge until you're ready to cut them and also don't cut off the root end! That is what makes you cry. Just do one clean slice through the middle(cutting through both ends of the onion) and keep the root end intact while you chop from the other side. I promise you'll see a huge difference.

I grew tomatoes and peppers from seeds I saved from store bought produce (regular, not organic produce) and they turned out great. Save the seeds from your tomatoes, dry them out on a paper towel and then put the paper towel in an envelope (the seeds will be stuck to it) and you will have seeds for next year.

My oldest had/has a sweet tooth. When she was 4 she got into her brother's potty training candy, around 3 am. She kept throwing up. It took me a few days to figure out why. Worst part, I have a very weak stomach, and my husband was deployed. Needless to say, I was throwing up with her while trying to clean it. She still has a sweet tooth at 15, but now knows her limits. I don't even want to imagine the nightmare it would have been if she got into a tub of icing. 😳😳 My sister-in-law used to eat sticks of butter. Kids like weird things.

Glad to get the tip about the spaghetti squash. I actually bought onion goggles from Amazon, and they really work. Swimming goggles would work also, I'm sure. My neighbor and I would chop side by side and she never suffered. We realized she was wearing contacts and that kept her from being effected, hence the onion goggles. Ate a lot of daikon when stationed in Japan. Pickled daikon is wonderful too.

Another great way to make spaghetti squash is to cut into rings, drizzle with oil, and bake. Scramble in the "ring" and top with whatever

Love these low-carb meals to give you ideas. We have tried chef's plate here in Canada a couple times since the pandemic most times it's good sometimes we just skip a few weeks because the meals are too easy things I could do at home. But that shrimp dish looks really good

I put my water or broth in my Instant Pot with the setting on sautee as I get my food prepared, this helps it come to pressure faster.

You can put an onion in the microwave for 30-45 seconds and it will stop the eyes from watering. I cut up a 10lb bag of Costco onions in less than 1 hour using this trick. Worked perfectly! Just make sure you do 1 onion at a time.
