It appears there has never been a railway yard at Tyabb station. I found an old map, circa late 1800s and it only shows the station, with nothing behind it. Even photos from the 1970 don't show anything so it's doubtful. Basically there wasn't anything in the area to justify a yard anyway. The piles of gravel are most likely stored there for roadworks as all this is government land and, most likely a reserve as well. Wouldn't be surprised if Vicroads uses it as a temporary dumping ground as well. The antique store (Tyabb Packing House) is actually the largest antique store in the Southern hemisphere and pretty amazing inside, with not just antiques but also a really cool movie poster store and very nice restaurant. Most people will drive here as catching the train along this line is pretty much a novelty at this point. It might get more services as the area has been slowly building up. The station itself used to have an actual building until it burned down in 1975, was rebuilt and then downsized again in 1986 to simple bus shelters. Lastly, the Stony Point line services were actually suspended in 1981 but resumed again in 1984.
@@74_pelicans I honestly couldn't tell you as there isn't much info on this but the most likely reason would have been very low patronage. As for Jeff, he was the member for Burwood at the time, so doubtful.
If you haven't visited the Packing house opposite the station, do it on a nice day. Lots of really great antiques and small business with trinkets & what not
Stony Point Line from Frankston is pretty much the same route along C777. Would 2.8L turbo Diesel Toyota Coaster do a better job? Or Hybrid Coaster from Japan? If more on request stops along C777 with higher frequency, it may attract more passengers.
I don't think they have improved for a long time, or will anytime soon. They would need to build a loop somewhere in the middle to actually improve anything!
Thank you, I don't drive and I have been to Tyabb Before Covid lockdown...I like the antique centre but

Why were they suspended? Were there any planned cuts from Jeff ?

Thanks for all those great details!

Thanks! I'll check it out next time
Cool train sound
Indeed!
The road in question is the "Mornington-Tyabb" road. Unsurprisingly, it goes from Mornington to Tyabb.
They were really creative with that name, weren't they!

Would this Stony Point Line overlap with bus Route 782?
Would like to go again but it seems the railway hasn't been upgraded. Hope train times have improved since the last time I checked !

Why is there no green button at this station?
I think the authorities might have forgotten that it exists
@@melbournerailwayvideos Oh no! I think you’re right!
Why does this exist?
For people to get on and off the train without having to jump or climb.
First
Congrats
