I been a classic muscle car guy the last 39 years. Always had affordable 60s and 70s vehicles I built the motors and cars over many years. Now that my years are limited and old muscle cars are 40k and up I purchased new Challenger Scat Pack TA 2 weeks ago. I was hyperspaced from 1970 to 2023 in one day. Car is loaded with power, comfort and technology. Sticker was 64K. walked out the dealer paying 42k with warranty, 30 mile new car. I can't even buy a clean Nova SS 396 Clone for 40K. These modern cars fit my old butt perfectly. So glad I stepped out of the 70s.
DODGE should cover ALL OF THIS STUFF if you haven't gotten it fully repaired already - and all people should be held accountable - such as the dealer that was supposed to to a pre-delivery inspection etc. I WOULD DEFINITELY GET IN TOUCH WITH DODGE ABOUT THIS !! I WOULD NOT ACCEPT THS AS "NORMAL" !!
I’ve had this problem with other high end versions of plebeian vehicles. It may have been a 100k car, but it’s engineered and assembled like the 30k car the base Challenger is. Good luck.
I’d get a Fumoto oil drain valve, replace the oil drain plug and never have to remove it again. I did this on my Charger and the oil guy at the dealer loves it. Far less messy than the stock oil drain plug when changing the oil. Besides you really tightened the plug almost too much. Wouldn’t want to strip that out.
Unreal with all these haters bro. Congrats on the sweet ride and enjoy! They are amazing cars and unfortunately yours had some QC issues. I’d have done like you and fixed them myself knowing it’s fixed right. Great vid and keep them coming!!
Thanks! I appreciate that. Thankfully I'm not at the mercy of the dealer and know how to turn some wrenches so I'm a bit puzzled by the comments I have been receiving. Probably most of them are from Voyles Dodge? ;) Also, I found a bag of parts in the back of the trunk that came with the car so I will be installing those in my next video. I guess some assembly is required when you buy a hellcat!
@@DIYDanCars it’s just haters bro. Honestly the more you have just means the better you’re doing. You have a bad ass sweet car there that you’ll enjoy immensely as long as you own it. I don't understand why you didn't just take it to another Dodge dealership. EVERYTHING should be covered under the warranty. By messing with it yourself the dealership can now say you voided the warranty.
This is untrue. We have "Right to Repair" laws in this Country. I repaired it myself because then I know it will be done right and I also won't have to risk some dealership employee taking my car out for a joy ride.
I work at a dealership and the Hyundai I worked at they missed alot of stuff on PDI. Talking with a tech that worked at another Hyundai, be said they wouldn't even lift the vehicle... Quick way to get sued.
2 things check your oil since there was an oil leak and secondly get your oil pickup checked out make it to where they put one in the back of the oil pan or whatever are your motor will blow up
A lot of dealerships are like this one because warranty work hardly pays squat and they always give warranty jobs to new junior mechanics who have very little real work under their belts outside of tech school where they received their initial certification. One of the worst places for a mechanic to work is at an automobile dealership.
And they wonder why people have stopped buy any of there junk. I thought about buying a Redeye but I decided to skip over anything new or used from Stellantis. We bought a new Charger years back and our dealer would argue for hours about fixing anything, even when the car only had 150 miles on it.
Reliable should have told you about the problems before they loaded it into their truck. That way you would have beena ble to refuse delivery and have the dealership take care of the issues. Welcome to Stellantis land. They have absolutely jumped the shark with their cars. I also feel your pain looking at your Granturismo. I owned on and it was ALWAYS broken!
Interesting. We have owned our Granturismo for 6 years now and it has been just as reliable as our Lexus. Nothing but regular fluid changes and consumables so far.
There is no disputing the fact that these cars are very easy to steal. I knew that when I bought it, hence the reason it never gets parked in a public place without someone still being in the car.
You should get the front end along with the fender flares, especially the back ones in PPF. The stones definitely kick up and will chip the rear fender flares, ask me how I know. If you wanna keep it pristine looking, and the nice thing is you really have to look close to see this PPF. Some PPF have that self healing protection in the material.
That's so sad. I hope you don't have any issues with the rack. But if it keeps leaking, it's going to give problems. I had this issue on my 08. Only 70 thousand miles. I bought it new. I'm torn how I feel about the new challenger. I think it's cheaply built. I have 70. If compare the two, not a discussion. The news ones are cheap. I can't believe how expensive those plastic pieces are. I had to replace all of mine. A good tire drag & street E.T. streets. Mickey Thomson, have fun with your new car. Woo hoo. Congrads😂😂😂😂
It's been documented repeatedly that the "Last Call" quality was not up to snuff. Don't know why anyone would be surprised. The Plant was closing and any part that could be used was used. Quality checks went out the window along with the attitude of most of the employees. It happens all day every day in any manufacturing operation that is phasing out the operation and the jobs. Much rather have a 22, but apparantly the severe issues on the 23's are only on a some vehicles and most are not as bad as this example.
Thank you! I haven't changed the oil yet, but I think the gasket is built into the drain bolt on these. I'll have to double check. The car now has almost 800 miles on it and so far no other issues have come up. Fingers crossed!
VMS Racing has some really nice and good drag wheels, 17x11 and 18x5's for the widebody cars. Some M/T tires and you will be good to go. You will also need shorter rear sway bar end links to run the 17" tires.
This is why I bought my manual, 2024 Dark Horse, loaded with the handling package. I wanted to have a NA V8 before they become extinct. Also have a stage 2 Whipple kit coming soon for it to take it to 810 🐴 power
This dealer group is based in GA and I had the Joy of purchasing a challenger from them that they delivered w a nice scratch down it and before buying only they showed 10 miles then at ppw they said oh its got 280 miles ffs I almost walked and should have of course they want to move the pos so they added free service and extended the power train and would never buy another car from them ever….
Thankfully I didn't have any huge scratches. Just simple dumb repairs that should have been caught in QC at the factory or when they did the pre-delivery inspection (PDI), but laziness got the best of them... I guess.
How many people never look under their car? They depend on you not looking 😂 Many modern cars have pads under the drivetrain to hide leaks 😮😮 Cost of producing this car is a fraction of $100k😂
lol! Its clean of any tire debris. I don't think someone roasting the tires is going to cause the heatshield for the starter to become unbolted or a loose oil pan drain bolt. These types of problems occur at the factory.
Just Stellantis and their lack of Q.C. whilst chasing profits. Dodge is no longer American and not the company we used to know and love. Hopefully you watch the Dodge/Ram/Jeep vids out there showing what a disaster corporation you have waded into...Plenty of videos about the major quality nose-dive Stellantis has brought to it's cars. The offerings from Peugeot here in EU are pretty sweet, they are awesome drivers with a high quality build...
All those issues would have been fixed for free under warranty at any DCJR dealer. I’m a DCJR dealer mechanic for 34 years. I have never seen an oil filter and a drain plug leaking on a new engine. That broken shield was likely damaged when the car was delivered to the dealer from the transport truck.
LOL! For free? Trying to get warranty work at CDJR is like trying to get a state worker at the DMV to stay an extra 5 mins after their shift is done. It's not going to happen, hence the reason I did what I did. Talk is cheap, but walking the walk is the real test, and sadly Dodge failed me on multiple fronts in that regard.
@@DIYDanCars well if that car came through my bay I would have ordered a new splash shield and tightened up that filter and drain plug no questions asked
@@scottgraham6910 If what you say is true, then Dodge could use a lot more mechanics like you. Sadly though I couldn't even get the dealer to call me back. I have no issues anyways where I will bring it in. The A/C doesn't blow cold at idle when its really hot side and the gape between the front bumper and fender is so large that rocks are getting lodged in their every time I drive. I'm guessing this will be a battle at the dealer to repair, but I'm prepared for it. I love the car dearly, but the build quality is laughable at best.
Just buy a harbor freight heat gun heat the plastic and hold it with plank or straight edge and let it cold. It going to be straight as an arrow dont waist money foe simple stuff. Weld with plastic or jb weld the under part that separate. Its going to look brand new.
It looks a lot like Joe Raiti's new Hellcat, including the color. He gave us all a virtual ride in it on his channel. "The Grape Ape", he calls it. He got it with the rare 6 speed. I guess he had a good dealer. Looks like many CDJR dealers, though, have no problem charging beyond Land Rover prices, but fail on delivering Land Rover service. And Stellantis just doesn't give a damn.
Yes. I saw his Hellcat and its very nice too. Mine is a manual as well but has quite a few more options than his. It sucks that customer service isn't important anymore. I'm just glad I have the tools and resources to fix cars myself without being at the mercy of the dealer. I know not everyone has that ability and I feel for them.
Right, everyone can afford a 100K vehicle whether it’s your first or fifth. Happy you have one you want tho. Prices of new vehicles have gone exponentially since I began buying. My first was a 67 GTO in California after I came back from Vietnam. Foolish? Paying over 100K for a Hellcat? Hope you enjoy it. My GTO was $3,500. Still kicking myself in the ass for trading it in.
@@DIYDanCars Not jealous at all. I could afford to buy a $100,000 car, but it would be one of those. You chose to expose your stupidity by posting this on TH-cam!
It stinks that you had to do all of that. It's like the people building the cars are jealous of the people buying them and they just don't care about how they put them together. By the way, you really need to remove that AWFUL looking yellow guard on the front splitter. Otherwise, it's a beautiful car. And I'm a Mustang guy. Have fun and don't kill yourself.
I would have NEVER, EVER, paid for those repairs! Especially when you've already payed what, $100,000 for that car!? I would have gone to that dealer and complained up and down until they fixed it! And made sure that there were other customers in the dealership at the time so they too could see what kind of dealer they were dealing with.
When the dealer is over 1000 miles away its a bit difficult to hop in the car and drive to the dealer to express your dissatisfaction. All I can do is warn others who plan to do business with them. Thankfully most of the repairs were very minor with exception of the air damn, which cost me 5 big ones. It sucks, but I was getting no where with the dealer via phone.
This is totally unacceptable on a brand new car especially at that price point. I would document and photograph all the problems with the vehicle when you received it as evidence. I would then visit the dealer who sold it to you ( probably a long drive and a hassle for you , but its the principle of the matter) and immediately speak with the general manager or Principle owner and explain the problems. That part that you paid for they should take care of it, if not make a formal complaint withe BBB, contact Dodge Corporate office and complain listing all the people you spoke with at the dealership, file a small claims action against them. They will relent because don't want to spend the money for an attorney. You would definitely win in Court and they know it. What would scare me is the problems with the car you can't see. You were let down twice, First by the Manufacturer, and then by the Dealership.
When you have to change the oil, I would get a new drain plug. Shouldn't be that tight to seal it. It could be missing the Oring on the drain plug. I've never seen a factory oil filter from the factory be that loose. It usually takes an act of God to get it off.
You sure for a fact that the car didn't receive any damage at one point and they never reported it? Like someone messed up at the dealer and they are covering it up? I'm only asking because never in my life have I seen brand new car parts marked with white X's. That means it was purchased from a junk yard around my area just saying. They use white and yellow markers to mark X's on them because they have to in order to re-sell them. Seen it done b4 that's why I asked.
He takes it off in this very video. LOL! Why do you care anyways? It's his car! I guess some people are just overly critical and having nothing better to do than make them feel superior and important behind a keyboard.
@@HypocriticYT Huh?! I used to work for a Chrysler dealer and almost all of the cars we received from the factory had low teens as far as mileage. Most of the new Challengers off the truck have had between 8-15 miles on them. It all depends if they went to QC where they put them on the rollers to perform additional testing so I'm a bit puzzled by your comment that "13 is a lot of delivery miles".
I’m thinking another dealership would have handled the issues for you. Those are manufacturing issues so don’t see why any local dealer wouldn’t fix. I’m also thinking a few minutes with a heat gun would sort out that bulge, given that ride height you may want to keep that old one handy ! Imagine the things you can’t see if those few obvious things are there. Obvious that little to no care or pride was utilized in assembly.
They probably would. But I didn't want to risk some inexperienced kid working on my new car or risk having the car wash crew taking it for a joy ride. The risk of that far outweighs any benefit of them "fixing" it. I guess each their own, but to me I would rather just fix it myself.
@@DIYDanCars I agree, fixing it yourself you know it is done right, but those guys should have at least provided the parts for you... Disgusting how little care and assistance when you have an issue...
@@helpfulhippo3744 I agree! Customer service is no longer a thing it seems. I have no plans to ever purchase another new Dodge again. Stellantis really took things the wrong way at Chrysler/Dodge. Tims leadership in building the best muscle/performance sedans and coupes on the road shows. One of the best looking cars on the road. Stellantis wants America to think the Hornet is the answer to the car we need lol. Umm no. Keep this in Europe Back to your car - the build quality is poor. Unfortunately you aren’t the only one to deal with this. Dropping near 6 figures you’d expect everything to be installed. Shows what job the QC people are doing on the line Brampton, Ontario in Maple Syrup land - other lines of work you’d be fired. QC should have caught that. Where are the pen marks verifying proper torque on drain plug? How about clips? If installer job dropped ball QC should catch that. Hope stellantis cuts you a check for the parts and for hassle/labor.
Who knows? The dealer was ghosting me, but I'm sure in typical dealer fashion they would have denied any wrong doing and it was me who is at fault. Trying to get warranty work done on a Dodge is a lot like trying to get an employee of the DMV to stay an extra 5 mins. It's just not going to happen. Some people enjoy a battle like this but I don't, so I elected to just fix it myself.
This is unsat I worked for Chrysler jeep Plymouth dealership doing new car prep and warranty and recall service that dealership should be reported to the district manager I'd never buy a car from them
You have to remember, it a Dodge. Not a Toyota. It may be a fancy model but it built by lowly Jeep/Dodge factory workers. There is zero quality control with Stellantis vehicles.
Maybe things have changed. Back in the day I had two Chrysler 300Ms from the early 2000s (A 2000 base and a 2002 Special) and IMO they were just as reliable as my Lexus GS. I drove both cars to almost 200k miles with the only repair being 2 tie rod ends and regular servicing (fluids, t-belt, tires, brakes, etc). IMO great cars, especially without cheap they are now.
Thank you! I'm monitoring the steering rack at the moment. I will provide an update on it in my next video to see if it's getting any worse. Fingers crossed! :)
You should have made them remove the dealer logo before it left. I always do. But it’s fun to give them the option to leave it no for an additional $1000 for me advertising for them.
lol! These clowns couldn't even deliver a car in 100% new condition to me. I could only imagine how they would remove the decal that they applied. I would just rather it do it myself instead of them. They would probably take a razor blade to the paint work and scratch it all to heck trying to remove it.

Getting the dealership logo off, especially after the way they treated. I love the Challenger.
I’ve had this problem with other high end versions of plebeian vehicles. It may have been a 100k car, but it’s engineered and assembled like the 30k car the base Challenger is. Good luck.
$25k Civic would be flawless for 100,000+ miles. $100k Dodge is pissing oil and grease from day one.
I actually like how it looks without the yellow plastic lip protection. Although it’s weird to see one without since everyone leaves it on.
haha! I hear ya, Chris! I don't understand why people leave them on either.
Good video my dude. I have a 23 last call MOPAR Edition on my channel. I bought 3 months ago. Just turned 1500 miles.
Nice! Enjoy it! I'm at 800 miles on mine, but only drive it occasionally.
Yup Dodge “ Dangerous,Object, Dragging,Garbage,Everywhere “! Nice Union Work there!
Hey, its a Chrysler product....what did you expect?
But hey nice ride. Enjoy it!
Probably most of them are from Voyles Dodge? ;)
Also, I found a bag of parts in the back of the trunk that came with the car so I will be installing those in my next video. I guess some assembly is required when you buy a hellcat!
@@DIYDanCars it’s just haters bro. Honestly the more you have just means the better you’re doing. You have a bad ass sweet car there that you’ll enjoy immensely as long as you own it. Not cool it needed some repairs and sounds like even some final assembly out of the gate but on the plus side you are getting acquainted with it early on and that can only be good going forward.
I bought a 2022 F8 green Challenger RT 5.7.
Every time l park it in the driveway,l can’t wait for the next time l get back in and start it up.BEST car l ever owned.
All you haters of Dodge are politically motivated. I hope your hatred gives you a headache. My Challenger has given me no headaches.
Grease coming out of steering rack is normal. I work at Chevrolet dealer and see it on new ones.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day now.
😂 that one was built 4:45 on a Friday !
Or 6AM on Monday! lol
Rebuilt more like it
Reliable should have told you about the problems before they loaded it into their truck.
I am a Lexus collector in SE michigan. The only reason I've never owned any Mopar or Hellcat is because it will get stolen.
There is no disputing the fact that these cars are very easy to steal. I knew that when I bought it, hence the reason it never gets parked in a public place without someone still being in the car.
@@DIYDanCars My V8 Lexus IS500 (3rd one) Flys under the radar no one knows what it is lol
Definitely. I plan on getting PPF installed on the front and in some key areas like behind the wheels, mirrors, and doors.
Dealerships are either good or terrible. Go to another dealer. You have to do your own inspection before paying for it 😮.
"Documented repeatedly". Please show me where.
@DIY DAN, I want the BEST car you have! Sell me the MR2😎👌🏾💎♦️🎉 Nice Toyota.
I just came across your channel and good luck on your Challenger.
Thanks! The AW11 is a riot to drive and its one of my favorite 80s classics!
I can't believe they don't have good quality checks anymore. It is better doing it yourself. I learned my lesson with these stealerships too. Enjoy!
Thank you!
I'm probably wrong but it didn't look like there was an oil plug gasket.. great video, congrats
Thanks! I'll check them out.

Well,the Maserati explains it.
Slapped that thing out as quickly as they could, and damn putting the crank on that oil plug

I always remove dealer specific decals, badges, plate frames, etc. If they decide they want to pay me to advertise then I’ll leave it on.
Wow! 3 comments in 5 mins. Is that you Voyles Dodge? LOL!
I'd be on the warpath if i dropped that kind of money and it showed up in that condition. absolutely unacceptable.
Check rear tires, and rubber in wheel well !
@@DIYDanCarsI might be able to buy one that will fit on my desk. Maybe from Maisto or Ertyl. 😅
Right, everyone can afford a 100K vehicle whether it’s your first or fifth. Happy you have one you want tho. Prices of new vehicles have gone exponentially since I began buying. My first was a 67 GTO in California after I came back from Vietnam.

The hellcat is an expensive model but isn't assembled with any more care than run of the mill models?
Totally unacceptable, but that's what Dodge has become.
Does he keep that silly yellow number guard on? I couldn’t finish watching, makes me anxious!
He takes it off in this very video. LOL! Why do you care anyways? It's his car! I guess some people are just overly critical and having nothing better to do than make them feel superior and important behind a keyboard.
I bet one of their mechanics or the dealerships owner kid drove the 💩 out of it for a few miles 😢
I doubt it because it had delivery miles on it. All of these problems are tied to poor workmanship at the factory.
@@DIYDanCars 13 is a lot of "delivery miles". I bet the starter had an issue and is why the cover wasn't attached
@@HypocriticYT Huh?! I used to work for a Chrysler dealer and almost all of the cars we received from the factory had low teens as far as mileage. Most of the new Challengers off the truck have had between 8-15 miles on them. Actually I don't. It's my wife's car and its over 10 years old and paid off. #assumptions
