      That's a fantastic piece of swamp-wood. Your choice of colors and placement made all the difference.
      Would also be interesting to do similar work in flame colors (orange and yellow with hints of red and blue).

    With your Pressure Pot, I noticed you added some 60psi pressure and let it cure under pressure.
    My suggestion to you, is to apply vacuum to that pot, all compressors are also vacuum pumps, add an air hose connector to the inlet of your compressor, where the filter is, then connect your hose to the pot and it will draw air out of the resin as well as the timber, then when you let air back in it will wick the resin into the timber cracks and grain.
    you could replace the pot lid with a 1" thick Acrylic sheet so you can see whats going on inside, this would also work with what you are doing now.
    cheers

    • @PohlBarnProductions
      @PohlBarnProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't really work like that with the resin I use, it sets up to fast to put it under a vacuum, I need to invest in a vacuum chamber as I already have a vacuum pump, then the correct resin to do the job, everything is so pricey for this hobby, I suppose I could use the pot I have and make a different top for it so I could see through it, then just purchase the cactus juice resin and just stabilize things that way. that resin isn't cheap either.

    • @nedgligich
      @nedgligich 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PohlBarnProductions 1st, with most if not all 2 part resins, if you add less catalyst, you increase the cure time, this also generates less heat and discoloration to the final job.
      2nd you can use your pot as a vacuum pot, to get rid of air bubbles in the resin you do not have to achieve 29 hg vacuum.
      If you already have a vacuum pump it would not hurt to try, If you have a small pump it may take some time to get build up enough vacuum, but you will get better results.

      @@PohlBarnProductions Just in passing, I wanted to throw my 2 cents in if I may.
      We made a cheap vacuum chamber out of an old pressure cooker, like the kind you put on a stove. We used the top release for the vac hose by brazing a valve on it that I could hook up to my Vacuum pump. The set up less the pump was 75 Cents for the cooker, and I
      had the hoses and gauge for refrigeration repair.
      I started in Denver, and you are lucky to pump it down to 24 inches. I bought an electric vacuum gauge for $24 on sale. It took an hour to vacuum down, and we'd leave it all day. The parts came out great.
      You don't have to have a lab quality chamber for parts like these.
      The kind of resin we were casting was an iso polycarb mix.
      You have a lot of talent there, I hope the best for you. If I could help in any way, I'd be glad to. Just PM me.
      Smiles.

      Do you work with “wood” only? I am constructing a modern Barbie house and, I think I am going to try this general idea. But, instead of a vase, I’m going to use glass backsplash tile instead of wood and make a lamp base. 👌🏼

    • @PohlBarnProductions
      @PohlBarnProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      never worked with glass tile I'm sorry. but I don't see why it can't be done, we are only limited by our imagination .

      I would think it would be much like doing stained glass, metal framing in the design you want , then cut and add the tiles to fit.

      John-Paul Silke What does AI have to do with anything creative, like this man is doing? If AI reaches the heights of being creative, it will be another artist. Period. When photography was invented, many critics predicted artists would not be needed thereafter.
      True artists grabbed hold of the new tool and used it to improve their art.
      What makes you think true artists won't partner with whatever new tools come along in the future and produce new creations that will be mind blowing?

    • @john-paulsilke893
      @john-paulsilke893 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed I think much like photography the human mind and AI will combine and make art so beautiful as to make genuine tears of joy, passion and other emotions perhaps beyond descriptions. My point was that this was so far away from what should or could logically be made useful was somehow not only made useful but also incredibly beautiful.

    Why not fill up the core of this with a wooden stick that could fill the gap in the centre and then you didn´t have to spend so much of the expensive resin?
