Fantastic idea and builds. I have stored my large drywall blades at the top layer in some large storage totes just to keep them from being banged around. Even my mud pans are in less than amazing places... and my paper tape roll is stuffed somewhere.... Making something like this would give all those tools a home. Really keen to try this out. Already trying to think of how best to cut the slots. Maybe just jigsaw or scrollsaw and avoid circular saw with thin kerf to get it right and clean.
Thank you so much. I’ll throw out another way to make the slots. On my first caddy, I just ripped down some plywood into 3/4” strips. Then I also took some 1” x 1/8” pieces of wood and glue everything in alternating order.
I built my box that also operates as a hawk stand to keep my hawk upright when in use. I added a clip for a tape measure and magnets to hold a pan. check out my box at awesome drywall knife box and hawk stand
Based on my experience, these knives are pretty clean. 😅 I used to keep my knives super clean but found it’s a waste of time. As long as I keep them relatively clean, they get the job done for me. Thanks for watching! The caddy really does make work easier. And keeps you from losing track of your tools.

Thank you. I enjoy it every time I use it!
@@chicagohandyman yeah think I’m gonna take the dimensions from your video and bring it to my local wood shop and have them make one for me !
Looks great!
amazing idea !!! thanks Buddy !
Let me know if you build one!
Looks like the one @vancouvercarpenter made
He mentions that.
Just drill some holes on the bottom for ventilation and airing out
Nice simple idea. Thanks!
Dude get a power washer and clean those knives and pan. That’s really bothering me.
I’ve done it both ways. Found out the knives don’t have to be super cleaned after every use.
