I'm currently rebuilding a starter in which that square peg was missing. Felt very smart to machine a new one on the lathe with nice, precise fits on everything... Looks like you just saved me from building a sticky starter switch, thanks xD
Guys really make sure that black washers in and don’t end up like me having your starter short straight to positive ground 😂 had a nice firework show when I connected the battery
It would be a good idea to have a battery disconnect in the car cabin in the event of electrical or fuel system failures. Another battery disconnect outside of the cabin would be a good safety feature. See the great video on this channel about 6 volt vs 12 volt cables. It discusses electrical disconnects.
I just replaced my switch because the “T” at the end of the rod that this plunger fits in started to disintegrate. Now I want to take my new switch apart to see if it has that cheap plastic actuator in it. Haven’t used it enough to see if it’s sticking yet.
I learned a lot from the video and what was wrong with mine You made it a simple fix 👍
Nicely done
Thanks!
