Did the headlight tint on my 2018 Dodge Journey. Used the Vvivid Smoke Grey. It went really well. I removed the headlight from the car to "wrap" them. I love how forgiving the material is when a crease forms. Just pull it back up, stretch and a little heat, lay back down, and done. They turned out perfect. Thank you Vvivid for a wonderful product!
Does it change the brightness of your headlight?
@@COBALT35REM Yes, we don't suggest using the dark tint on headlights as it does reduce the transmission of light BUT a light or subtle tint will not be very noticeable. If you have headlights that are generally not bright and you drive a lot during the night(i.e work like deliery etc) maybe no tint should be used just in case.
@@VViViDVINYLS - I ended up using the Vivid Clear Hex, rainbow colors on my headlights after a restoration I had done. They came out fantastic and the film was great to work with. used this smoke tint on my mk6.5 jetta in 2018, was my first time tinting tail lights and i used this video to help. the tint lasted until last year so i removed it and ready to do it again! thank you for a great affordable tint and these videos

Yes the only thing it does is take the glare out and make the light look sharper. Great video Chris.

Did you use a heat gun? Do you think a hair dryer would work okay?
@@sittingindetroit9204 No, just invest in a heatgun. Sorry, the the blow dryer doesn't work well for the job. You can find some for a reasonable price.

This helped with my Honda Fit tail lights. They have the stupidest angles imaginable. I have bubbles and ripples but with a design that complicated, Im satisfied. (still gonna redo it later on)

Tried this on my Infiniti G35. The indents in my lights made this VERY difficult. Its not at all flat. But still came out decent enough for me to keep it on. ANY other tail light would be easier than mine I'm sure.

I couldnt get anybody to answer me when i asked vvivid if they had precut tint for headlights and taillights was kinda disappointed in the customer service they looked at my questioned and ignored it smdh..however the wrap job looks good tho cheers

Well I put this on my Headlights a year ago. Today decided to tske them off and It leaves so much glue residue that I can hardly see anything. Very difficult to take off. Ain't putting this ever again.
Try tar remover- I went through the same issue with removal a week ago (entire tail light covered in glue) and Carpro TarX got it off completely.
just refinish the headlights .. should only take a a few hours....

It depends how large the crack/damage is. If you’re able to completely cover the damage in a way where water would not infiltrate, then it would definitely work! Cheers
So I just removed my vivid headlight tint after it had been on for about a year. So some glue residue is left behind, what’s the best way to remove it.
Usually you can rub it off with a finger or wipe adhesive remover like goo gone and wipe off. Let us know!

It's easier to leave it on as it is anchored down and you can pull/stretch the film in a way that is manageable. Great question though!
Maybe if you take off the taillight, then make a firm wooden structure, put it in your vice, and then bolt the lights to it, and then tint it.....
I used this tint for my 81 Camaro Z28 T-Tops cause they were scratched pretty good.
The overall effect was awesome. But, since it doesn't have a peel protection layer, when I installed it with a credit card and trying to get some bubbles out, I scratched the tint a bit. (rookie)
I got more tint and better tools to install. Will attempt it again soon! Gonna raise the temp up in my garage to assist in the installation process.
The first time I did it, the only T-Tops were on my table. Pain in the ass.
Now they will be on the car forsure!
I don’t understand how you don’t get glue lines when you reposition the film? I did a very simple, flat lamp recently and it was very much a one-shot-deal! If I had to lift to release a bubble, I got a visible line at the point of adhesion... turned out great, but the ‘risk’ was there
The adhesive on VVIVID compared to other brands is low initial tack, it spreads stretch over a large area so you dont see lines. The only times you risk glue lines is when heating the film and activating the adhesive to full strength ( or installing in the heat) and/or leaving the material on a surface for an extended period of time.

Is it possible to cut out the reverse light with this wrap?
Used this product many times and it has been fine for the most part. However, after re wrapping a customers tail lights in the darker version, a TON of adhesive was left over after removal of the lighter tint. Spent a good hour and a half rubbing off all the adhesive before I could re wrap them, which only took 45min to wrap both lights. Not a very good turnover time if this is what I have to do in the future.
There is generally no adhesive left, especially on the newest versions. However it depends on the type of light and the heat created by the bulb. Constant heating and cooling over an extended period of time may loosen the adhesive - this is true for any vinyl.
Totally agree. I took mine off after one year and it is full of residue.
What happens if you tint both sides at the same time and cut down the middle? I'm doing mine on Saturday

My tail lights have tiny raised lettering in one spot from the factory and it looks like I have bubbles there but I don't. Any suggestions?

Personally I don't believe this is good practice, but your video has demonstrated that it can be achieved if done properly.
So you don’t have to wet the tail light or the back side of the film?
It is slightly sticky without heat, when you heat it up it activates the sticky side and that's how you get it to stay more permanent.

use this product only for tail light. nice video by the way. one thing.. the music is a little bit too loud but I like this new way the video is done. Maybe you could record with multiple camera at the same time. It could be use to get a more dynamic video. :)

What about the back up lights? They won't be as bright.
This vivid wrap wasn't for me the light tint looks purple more then a smoke . Alos the adhesive wasn't forgiven you could literally see it in the lens . Not a good look especially if your trying to make it look clean .

I hope you're still monitoring these comments. You used a VERY VERY VERY light tint. I want a DARK tint. Can you send me the link to order the DARK tint. The Amazon links for this product were VERY CONFUSING for me. I just want a DARK Smoke Air Self-Adhesive Tint.

This tint is terrible. The glue from peeling off the backing has a pattern like a snakes scales. No I am not talking about the deliberate hex pattern on some.of them. This one claims a glass finish, but always ends up looking hammered. They won't show you that on their videos. Don't waste your money, this stuff is basically tinted packing tape that stretches a little and always has a hammered finished.
Buy spray tint instead
