FINALLY - a graspable demonstration of that infamous last segment of the Victims of the Future solo. THANKS dude, your instruction is so to the point and spot on. GM, mainly pre-blues era, is my primary goto reference for what solid guitar work in rock should be like: loud and clear and semi-shreddy with exactly enough notes :)
Victims of the future was my introduction to Gary Moore! I think as much as he hated his metal years, I loved them! And still do......more than the early and later blues stuff! But....what a legend, playing anything!
Gary Moore was/is the greatest electric rock (and blues) guitarist of all time period next question. And a good singer too. And i love LOVE Rory Gallagher, Duane Allman, Roy Buchanan, & Jeff Beck.
Oops left out Joe Walsh. One other thing, Steve Morse can play anything Moore could and prolly backwards too, so my list is kinda invalid from the gitgo. ;-) But GodDAMN but Gary Moore WAs. THE. MAN. PS - Props to the Thin Lizzy lads too of course, Eric, Robbo & Scott.
Mark I am so pleased to see this video. Every time I see a clip of Gary with a Les Paul and hear that bloody still got the blues, I feel my eyelids dropping. He was a tour de force with his 61 red strat and he played with such ferocity, that is the real Gary Moore. I was in the crowd for his 1983 VOTF tour and like John Cruz, I became a fan for life of his rock output, the 1990 onwards material bores me to tears. Well done Mark, great subject matter here.
How I missed this one is a mystery. Gary was a cousin of mine back in East Belfast and was my main inspiration for taking the guitar up many many years ago. Great work once again Mark. Yer a veritable star. 👍👍👍
Great playing and teaching my friend! Love Gary Moore! I first learned of your channel from your Satch lessons. I know it’s not as ferocious at times but wondering if you can do some Robin Trower too! Thanks! 🎸🎶🔥
Loving your style (accent), but next time don't forget the tried & true format for video lessons: START with the full-speed chops you'll be teaching so everyone knows it's worth the watch time? Also not a bad idea to put a graphic onscreen for each lick (for easier scrolling). Thanks & keep up the good work! Chef Marty from Chicago
Ah thanks but this ain’t my first rodeo :) check out previous lick lessons this was a bit more off the cuff th-cam.com/play/PLxP30Hfh2Y8rLoPScZnR10yfQAdQuIxMQ.html&si=mytowRRwFNqlIf1_
@@mastertheguitar Don't get me wrong - really love your video & style, but I've never seen anything from you before - but I subscribed and liked, will be checking out more THANK YOU
Yeah I used to use Izotope way back in my PC days, I've even tried their plugins subscription model on the Mac but decided it's not an expense I want to make at the moment. This video is a different setup to usual as I recorded via OBS to disk rather than my usual separate audio/video and use of a shotgun mic. I'll be getting a new speaker soon hopefully and it'll be sorted :)
His hair and looked really sucked and was, well, cheesy af. But no one can knock this dudes chops! I didn't get hooked into Gary until late 80's stuff and most of his blues era which IMO is w=ere he found his home. Total legend.
End of the world intro is just blistering.
Rest In Gary Moore 😢
Empty Rooms is my favorite song that you covered today

Great catch on the 'Celtic twiddle' phrase in the Empty Rooms solo-never heard it like that but can't 'unhear' it now.
That was really really good...thanks for sharing (quality licks)
Great selection, very representative of the era, and proof that a strat is really all you need.
Out in the fields! Shapes of things to come!

Awesome! So glad you enjoyed the video :) Would have loved to have seen Mr Moore during that era.
@mastertheguitar the memories of seeing him in 83 at the peak of his powers will be with me always, ferocity and intensity like you can only imagine.

Great video - I’ll never master it, but it’s nice to see 😉👍
Have you checked out the G-Force album? 🎶🎸
@@kevinallcock5927 I have yes! :) You hear a lot of that picking from Lick #1 in White Knuckles.
Great job dude. That’s a cool album. Some Yngwie vibes there. Espacially Hiroshima. I dig your Irish accent!😄👍❤️🤘💪
You're a top notch teacher.
Dude - had fun playing along! Thanks for this! That Strat sounds pretty gritty/great!

Great video!
Great lesson, thank you for sharing 👍
We want MOORE!!
Thank you so much for doing this video
Thank you 🔥🎸
A pleasure!
Killer, thanks!
Awesome! I really don't like Still Got The Blues era + because pre that he could play ALL this ! Just me ?
I'm just finding this one, great video! What pickups are in your strat?
Cheers Paul! I've got set of Bareknuckle Irish Tours in my Strat - th-cam.com/video/bY2qFBm1B1Q/w-d-xo.html
thanks for the tips, i got one for u too, use izotope RX8 to remove the annoying hissing were hearing on this video
It’s my FR speaker failing I already EQd out the worst of it.
@@mastertheguitar idk why youtube keeps removing my comment but that thing can remove all the hissing trust me it is artificial intelligence not eq

No but I prefer to live monitor through it, I could have set things up to monitor through may actual studio monitors but opted not to.

Love the lesson but what was that horrible squeak in background 👂
I think Gary did not use his pinky when he was shredding.....
Yeah he would use when needed, check out the live footage in lick #4
But Gary never used his pinky so thats even super insane.
