You are one of very few people who can actually play in GM style, very authentic! love your instructional videos, I’ve been watching your videos for years now, great job mate.
Man, you really nail the GM sound and licks. Thanks! If I could make a suggestion, PLEASE back your camera away enough to capture both hands. On the trilled pentatonic licks section, I'd love to see your picking pattern. It makes all the difference with being able to build the speed. Dude, you rock. Thanks, again.
Some great licks in his fender 50th red house tribute.great bends & over ending.well worth a visit Dan .superb videos by the way.a real tribute to Gary.🎸✅
First, Gary Moore SADLY is one the most underrated guitar players of all time, Second, NICELY DONE SIR! You’re an exceptional player & You have an uncanny ability to sound like Mr. Moore (love to hear ya play “End of the World”) Third, you have a KILLER sound bro, LOVE IT & of course LOVE your LP what a gorgeous axe! KEEP ROCKIN BROTHER 👍🏻🤘🏼🎸🥁
Hi Dan. Tremendous once again. Your ear for GM's nuances is what sets you aside from anyone else on You Tube. Would be great to have a lesson on Blues Live versions of Pretty Woman and Cold Day In Hell. Stay safe and once again thank you for your lessons.
Very well explained bro! I love Gary like you do. He was the nr 1 inspiration for playing guitar. Congrats to you, that you nailed his technique so well by watching his playing. Not an easy thing to do. You might help me to the next level. Thanks a lot!
Dan, I've been a subscriber since the 'Stumble' videos ( I urge people to check these out ).I would guess most of your subs are huge Gary Moore fans like myself. There are a lot of imitators on You Tube, but you're the only one who actually sounds like him. Keep up the good work.
I owned the Gary Moore Live VHS in the early 90s and I couldn’t believe how muscular his Les Paul sounded. It was far removed from anyone I had ever heard. Just incredible. You nailed this here, man.
youve got similar dynamics to Gary,.. and astonishing playing you as well.... one (if not the best) playing covering Gary Moore ive seen. way to go Dan. take care;
Great Channel! Just subscribed! I've already learned that GM does that double pull-off/trill on the top 3 strings and usually goes to single pull-offs on the bottom 3 so his descending runs never lose steam and it sounds like he's going faster as he moves down the scale. He also rarely goes up to the 8th fret on the B before going up to the 5th on the E. Instead he does double pull-offs on both strings.
Hi Dan! Hope all is well with you! I was wondering have ever considered doing a lesson on the song Blues for Narada by Gary Moore? It's one of those songs a lot of people aren't familiar with unless you are a Gary Moore fan!
Hi Dan Thank you for your clear explanations, you have a very great sense of pedagogy ! And your hammerons/pulloffs are awesome ! Moreover, I like your tune :) can you tell more about that ?
Great video mate! All those habbits and licks are very much Gary. You should have mentioned Gary used his middle finger most of the time for bending and those blistering pentatonic runs ;)
Joshua Renshaw Thanks! Yeah thats true, he did like to use that finger primarily for that fast stuff, I should have mentioned it but it’s not something that will change the notes. Maybe it helped him get his speed.
Very enlightening. On the subject of the face-frying pentatonic licks, I wonder what the similarities and differences are between Gary and Lizzy era John Sykes. Maybe I'll have to to (cold) sweat a little blood and figure that out myself, lol. Enjoying your content, Lt. Dan.
Saw thin Lizzy with Sykes at small club in Palo Alto Ca years ago….he could sing like Phil which was sweet. His posturing and guitar however left me wanting, Gary’s playing has that something that grabs me. Sykes is technically brilliant but doesn’t move me, especially his leads. He treated Scott G rather shabbily that night, …classy..
I think I know what you're referring to. I was watching the vid of his last gig in a small club in London and it was very noticeable how there would be a kind of atonal sound in between his phrases, like you say, a split second thing, probably played on open strings on an upstroke. I guess it needs a lot of gain to get it to sound good.
Dan you really have nailed it. I'm still working on it after many years. Can you pleaes tell me what guage string you use, I use 10's, do you use lighter?. Thanks
Richard Schwarz Thanks! Yeah it is an Epi in this vid. I use a Yamaha THR 10x amp straight into my pc. Think it’s on Brown 2 setting or something. Can’t remember haha.
Great video! Gary was a heavy influence on my learning guitar, I'm just blown away with his playing on the "We Want Moore" album where you can hear him utilizing all of these examples with speed and precision.
A great video that even an old fart like me learnt from!! I wish I'd seen this before I did my version of Empty Rooms - which is on my YT channel if you want to take a look. Nice job, sir!! :)
Sometimes I try to play Gary's fast stuff and can juuuuust about make it (..cough..cough..) but with severe acking in my hand. Then I see Gary doing it with his thumb wrapped *over* the fretboard, not behind it. Try that and the hand falls off ;) ...love your vids!
Why can't nobody sound like him, all his playing over youtube. Cant you copy it note for note and sound 100% like him? then whhen you do solo you sound like the gary? pls explain bro? i dont understand why there are not hundreds of players like gary these days when its all there to copy bro?
Easy. Effort. Or lack thereof. The phrase, “you can do it if you put your mind to it”. It would help immensely if you have an ear for it. If there’s a certain something I want to play, I will listen to a song OVER and OVER and OVER again with headphones until I can map out exactly what notes are being played. I try to pinpoint if they are sliding or bending their strings. I think about transition time, etc. These people can do it. They just have to really try.
This is gold!!!❤

Totally agree

I can almost get this and its down to you adding tabs, many thanks! Great fun!

One the most detailed Garry Moore style guitar tutorial, I was looking for it and loved it a lot
God bless you
A brilliant masterclass on Gary's licks, but you also nail the tone. Superb!
Absolutely wore through the VHS of Live Blues back in the 90s. All you techniques here are perfect and brilliantly explained. Nice work!
Enjoyed this YT. RIP to the greatest of all time, Gary Moore.
Wow! I've never noticed that Gary was bending slighty sharp as you said. Great lesson!
this was great! Excellent job of breaking it all down. Now I just got a NEED 4 SPEED! Thanks.

Thanks for the video lesson. It was very helpful! I learned a lot from this video, how to use these licks Garry Moore style.

Great job, mate! Can reveal what amp, effects and setting to get the tone?
very good analysis
Thank you sir ! Its very much appreciated, Gary would be proud of u
Awesome video man, love Gary Moore! Keep these videos coming.
Great content, congratulations, plus your guitar sound is really good! Is it distortion from the amplifier or some pedal?
Rest In Peace Gary Moore 😢
Great videos with GM habits, I would love knowing if the main parts of the fast licks relates to triplets or 16’th note resolution?
Muitíssimo obrigado pela dica, valeu demais 😎🎸
Forensic, excellent! Subscribed.

Hi, what amp and effects are you using if I may ask?
So, the split second crunch between phrases. Garrys most fave thing. ? Sonds like open E&A.?
I think I know what you're referring to. Very nice! Is your guitar an Epi les paul standard? Can you give us some setup clues for getting this sound?
Richard Schwarz Thanks! Yeah it is an Epi in this vid. I use a Yamaha THR 10x amp straight into my pc. Think it’s on Brown 2 setting or something. Can’t remember haha.
Good Job👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great lesson and playing! What overdrive or distortion pedal are you using?
Gary also used alot of the natural minor scale. listen to empty rooms live in Stockholm 1987 and military man live in Belfast 1989
Both fantastic songs!
How do you get his minor pentatonic hammer on licks so fast? I can't get mine up to speed
Mad respect

Great..!!
the thrill is the frill
So Dan, Do you play the Violin ?
10:05 to me is the signature GM lick.
Great video! Gary was a heavy influence on my learning guitar, I'm just blown away with his playing on the "We Want Moore" album where you can hear him utilizing all of these examples with speed and precision.
12:52 I never liked Chuck Berry but I loved OTHER people playing his stuff. What’s THAT about? 😊

Cocaine habits?!!!
Black LP standards look cool.
