An old 🇦🇺Navy boat painters tip: if ya using a paint tray and roller, put the paint tray in a old plastic bag, like the ones they give you at the supermarket, then pour the paint in the tray (which is now lined by the bag). When you have finished painting, drain off the excess paint back into the tin, then turn the plastic bag inside-out and you're left with a clean, dry paint tray. If you leave a little paint on the roller sleeve and wrap it tight in plastic cling wrap and put it in a cool place they will stay pliable for weeks, same deal with paint brushes
Thanks Robbie thoroughly enjoyed these posts. Again 😄 regards Skipton to Leeds.. we've just booked a 2 week hire 4 birth. Out of Skipton to cruise to Leeds and back..your videos have been a godsend.. appreciated... I'm now following you up the beautiful Selby canal..and well done on the entrance into the Selby.. my wife loves your pub reviews..keep safe keep the faith. kind regards Dave 😁👍👍👍👍
I believe where you moored up at the burn bridge used to be next the the Anchor Pub, great for pub lunches. It didn't last long after the big roundabout was built on the other side of the bridge, it soon shut. I think now it's a car wash place, such a sad loss.
Hey it's the whole idea of these vlogs I guess. I really want to encourage people to think outside their comfort zones and explore what's possible. Thanks for the comment 8^]
Excellent drifting skills mate. 👍 Like fast and the furious on water haha. If that was your first attempt at that turn I'm well impressed... thanks the shoutout aswell. Happy days.
You're welcome mate, thank you for all the support you've given this channel, it's a massive boost. First time - of course! - had to make up for the fact I mistakenly thought the gates would be open! 8^)
Epic skills of the nautical kind! As ever, loving the camera work- truly wonderful scenery- and chilling out to the music, both yours and the mighty Lister's. Good luck on the Ouse; looking forward to more of the same.
Good to see what you are getting upto Robbie. I'm thinking of heading down the Selby Canal at some point soon, Great filming and the music works well. Sam from Toodlepip
As you entered the Selby Canal, I saw Drax Power Station. It appeared to be closed as well as Ferrybridge. That was a wonderful video Robbie. I really enjoyed the cruise to Selby. Looking forward to seeing York again.
I enjoyed this video Robbie, after coming across it by chance. Good work. I walked the length of the canal both ways a couple of weeks ago and I'm planning to kayak it sometime soon. Good luck with your adventures and your work.
I remember meeting you in Selby basin last year, I guess when you were making this video, I habe one of the moorings at the basin, great to see a vid of bank dole and haddelsey locks and the trip up Selby canal.
Great Vid Robbie good to see a bit of the canal. My grandmother used to swear by a hot toddy hot water lemon and Jack Daniels or any whisky I always have one or two when i have a sore throat. By the way it does absolutely nothing for the sore throat but its a great way to try. Enjoy your travelling.
Ha yes cheers Peter - funny I went to the off licence for a bottle and the owner showed me a technique wherby you slap some vicks or cream on, grasp both hands on your neck and massage your throat with your thumbs. Weird but it kind of worked
another brilliant video, keeping me amused while I am all fluey as well, I can't wait to buy a boat, have to make do with my motorhome for now. Thanks Robbie, feel better soon
Crankin it yet again Rob, all in all an excellent vlog even sneaked in some oldies Windy Biscuits and The Tow Path a couple of my favs. I may have dreamt those tunes were in there! Keep em coming love a bit of crank it.. Ade
Fab as always. Looking forward to the next vlog on 'the tidal' river. I'm hoping to get on the Severn River this year....... bit nervous about it so any hints n tips on your trip welcomed! Keep cranking! Hope you're feeling better!
'low it fam, was saafe yeh. Translation- I would not consider it libelous, I was impressed with the standard of your videography as ever ; ). (You are partly to blame for me having just bought a 32ft GRP narrowboat as a liveaboard...)
That's awesome Harry!! Although don't tell everyone otherwise they'll blame me for overcrowding 😬 Not many boats up here though. Where you going through at the mo?
It's currently out the water in Ely as I strip the blacking off it. What possesses someone to black a GRP boat? Once that's done, i've got 181 miles of cruising to get it home. Did you say you're at Crick?
Christ no idea! Never easy is it. Spent two months doing mine up when I first got it so just need patience and you'll get there. Yeah thinking about Crick... camping out on the Saturday probably
I just spent almost a week of sick with the FLU ( I had a flu shot as well, didn't work !) talk about synchronicity . I live in California and LOVE your vids, looking forward to your next one Robby !
These videos make me want to ditch the U.S. and live on a narrow boat. We don't really have anything here that compares, maybe along the Mississippi, but then there are gators and some very sketchy areas. There is another video I saw of some people from Australia narrowboating and they look like they had a wonderful time. May have to try this as a vacation first.
cracking video as ever always look forward to seeing where you have been, if your coming on the Trent and Mersey past Stenson or Willington as both close to me give me a shout for a complementary pint in the pub lad! :) keep up the good work!
I suppose if I was REALLY desperate I could probably just wee off the side (as long as no one was walking their dog)?! Very difficult to hold a bottle (and the rest!) as well as keep the boat from drifting!!!
Longing to get onto a boat, especially after watching your vids. I'd be inclined to pee into a bottle then decant it into a 5 litre container to pour into a toilet when at one. Leave on deck, nice surprise if someone steals it, and save filling up onboard facilitity.

Great, thanks Mark I'll try that 8^)

I trust you gave that paint a good clean down, sand, treated any rust and re primed first!
Wahey! Bats!
The barter system is alive and well. Always will be. It is an honest system.👍
scenic water stretch to selby. what a nice vlog thankyou. get well soon.
So relaxing to watch after a nightmare week... great to have a daydream to! Cheers Robbie x
You're most welcome hope everything is ok?! 8^)
Lots and lots of trips to the vet with my American Bulldog...but she seems to be on the mend :)
Aw sorry that must have been stressful but good to hear she's getting better 8^}

Yes I looked for that but sadly had to make do with my own lunch!
You're well off the normal narrowboat beaten track there mate. Enjoying the videos.

Ah thanks Andy glad you're Bill Withers/still with us - next one sometime this week if I can find time 8^)
just caught this, your naturally humourous thanks Robbie
Good to see what you are getting upto Robbie. I'm thinking of heading down the Selby Canal at some point soon, Great filming and the music works well. Sam from Toodlepip
Nice one great to hear from you mate hope our paths cross again soon.
Thanks mate, didn't realise it was your own work. Cool stuff 👍
Thanks very much 😊
Love your videos and humour. Get well soon. Keep em coming
Ha ha cheers Keith! 8^)
As you entered the Selby Canal, I saw Drax Power Station. It appeared to be closed as well as Ferrybridge. That was a wonderful video Robbie. I really enjoyed the cruise to Selby. Looking forward to seeing York again.
Drax is operational I see the train that delivers bark to it almost every day 👍
That will have been Eggborough power station. Not there now as I’m currently moored on the 48hr mooring at the start of the Selby canal
Nice.
Thanks Davy 8^)
I enjoyed this video Robbie, after coming across it by chance. Good work. I walked the length of the canal both ways a couple of weeks ago and I'm planning to kayak it sometime soon. Good luck with your adventures and your work.
very nice scenery. thanks for sharing.
No worries cheers chris 8^D
9:25 Holy Bat Feeding Sickman! Best yet Robbie, especially as you suffered for your art and our entertainment. Cheers.
Great vlog, thanks for sharing.. Nice to see things from the boaters side of things as I walked down part of that stretch last week!
Cool! That's great! Thanks for letting me know 8^D
Fab video as ever x

Fab as always. Looking forward to the next vlog on 'the tidal' river. I'm hoping to get on the Severn River this year....... bit nervous about it so any hints n tips on your trip welcomed! Keep cranking! Hope you're feeling better!
Thank you Peri - don't worry it'll all be fine?!!! Just crank it!!!! 8^D
Being a yoof I automatically assumed that a "sick narrowboat journey" was just a particularly good one.
Was it not both blud you get me?! 😂
'low it fam, was saafe yeh. Translation- I would not consider it libelous, I was impressed with the standard of your videography as ever ; ). (You are partly to blame for me having just bought a 32ft GRP narrowboat as a liveaboard...)

Hi Robbie
Good luck and good ride and stay healthy. I hope you reach Ripon anyway.
Cheers Juergen
Thanks Juergen! 8^)
Bricking it will make a change from cranking it next time. Impressive boat handling into the lock on to the Selby.
I thank you sir!
Top notch boating sir!

The shot with the cam on the bank !!!!! \m/\m/ fookin ace
Cheers Eric 😎

Yes definitely try it first I have seen many come and go - even that australian couple!
That must be one of the least travelled canals in the country. Looks surprisingly rural
loving the #reflections...... did a project on reflections for my GCE Art back in the day.
Could've done with a few of yours :-)
Got loads more for you coming up from this weekend Peter 8^)
Cool ya have a Coors Beer sign on your boat , do they have Coors in the UK?
Hi Ronald Yep, in bottles/cans/on draught. Just recently Bud Light too. In cans/draught.
Great video Robbie. Some sweet editing. Don't let that 'Man Flu' take over. Cheers 🍻
Hello you two Yes I musn't joke actually as it is very a serious condition! Thanks for the comment! 8^)
Were you not on the selby canal after taking the left fork at nottingley or is that still the a&c
whats the big round thing with the garbage? there's 4 on the canal.
Did you ever figure what the big fire/smoke was all about ?
No, sorry Ian!
looking at all the bottles in canl i now know where cornwall council are puuting my recycling
Hey Robbie, dont wana swap your ole canal beater for my old Mondeo do you? haha
Upgrade to a mustang and let's talk?!!!
cracking video as ever always look forward to seeing where you have been, if your coming on the Trent and Mersey past Stenson or Willington as both close to me give me a shout for a complementary pint in the pub lad! :) keep up the good work!
Loving the vid Robbie. What's the music?
Thanks Justin, just some tracks I put together for these vlogs. You can download most for free here: m.soundcloud.com/cobedy
Three of my family also developed a fever and sore throat just after the massive #ChemTrail covering a couple of weeks ago...
No #coincidence :-(
#TICC .... (And proud of it too ;-)
Such a nice life. Looks lonely though, not sure how i'd get along with that...
I don't know... but if you're on your own, and standing in that hatch; has it occurred that having bottle to piss into might be a solution?
I suppose if I was REALLY desperate I could probably just wee off the side (as long as no one was walking their dog)?! Very difficult to hold a bottle (and the rest!) as well as keep the boat from drifting!!!
Never go wrong with mashed potatoes (real butter) & smoked Mackerel...(Aldi) Cheap & Cheerful!!!
69Phuket I use bacon bits , not mackerel. But I'm from the U.S. love that cow & pig.
What is the music around 8 minutes in?
‘The Tow Path” written/performed by myself and my old band ‘The Wrong Oh Bong Oh Banned’ !! soundcloud.com/cobedy/the-tow-path
Where you heading to now ??
Longing to get onto a boat, especially after watching your vids. I'd be inclined to pee into a bottle then decant it into a 5 litre container to pour into a toilet when at one. Leave on deck, nice surprise if someone steals it, and save filling up onboard facilitity.
I bet you’re a hit with the ladies Tom! In all seriousness you sound well suited to the life already! 8^D
Why are those direction signs always hidden until the last minute. Bloody dangerous I say.
Wish you had put a video on of you servicing your engine don't let the Man flu beat you lovely pictures of the countryside wish I was boating with you
Cheers Derek! I'll add it to ny list of things to film, great idea! 8^)
And I was thinking you meant ‘sick’ (as the yoof say)
You need a empty bottle for that Driver Tizer, all I'm saying mate :)
Dan on the cut Eww ha ha ha!!
