The best explanation I have seen so far on how to use Seachem Stability, thank you so much. I am currently cycling a brand new tank and your explanation has clarified and simplified the process. This really helps
If you use stability in conjunction with prime you can do a safe fish in cycle it has an ammonia nitrate and nitrate binder which last for 48 hours so you need to reduce after that time they were together really well although it binds the harmful stuff it’s still available to the bacteria to complete the cycle so it is a fish friendly fish in cycling combination
Hi, thanks your video is great, you tell us new people who don’t understand all the tec talk how to set up a new tank, I’m in the uk and have no help, yours was the first video and only video I need to watch, thank you so much, Julie :)
I hope you watched other videos as well. He completely left out checking for ammonia and nitrites. You can have nitrates present with ammonia and nitrites. So if you only test for nitrates when doing a cycle you won’t know if the water is safe yet for fish.
How did you get that high of nitrates off of such a small amount of found given once? I was expecting maybe 10 ppm. But i always test for nitrites as well because i have had new setups with no ammonia and producing nitrates and still have a lot of nitrites.
I AM SEETING UP A TANK FOR MY GRAND DAUGHTER WHICH I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE. I HAVE THE STABILITY BUT I NEED TO KNOW HOW OFTEN DO YOU ADD FISH FLAKES? ALSO WILL I USE DECHLORINATOR ALONG WITH STABILITY?
New 55 gallon tank. 2 plants, 2 guppies. Gravel bottom with agueon 75 filter. Been about 2 weeks with nothing moving. Changed filter once. Is there a chart to explain what to do for problems on test strips
I'm on day 6 of stability. Added a few fish last night. They are doing well. My tank has a light green tint to the water. Could that be from this product? It does have several live plants.
Hey, That was an awesome tutorial and clear explanation. I do have some questions, I've been cycling a new 37 gallon for 9 days using stability. I added an ammonia source day 5, I haven't noticed too much in the way of changes. I'm using a fluval liquid test kit and my ammonia was at 0 and is now steady at .3 for the past 3 days with a steady PH of 6.5-6.8, nitrates were present on day two but barely and I've never really gotten a nitrite reading. I still have nitrates present but barely. I'm using fluval stratum as a substrate, I have a fairly big fungus coated mopani branch and a big rock and my PH started low at like 5.5 but with baking soda and crushed coral it's been steady at 6.5 for at least 5 days. I added a pinch of gold fish flakes today, I vaccumed up the old cichlid pellets I had used initially-maybe because they don't break down like flakes do they were not a good ammonia source? Anyways, the thing I'm confused about is that if my ammonia is reading safe (in the green zone) according to the fluval chart and I see such a slight reading if nitrates and I've never noticed nitrites and I've tested daily, is my tank cycled? Or did it just never start? Super confused, thank you.
So I have a ten gallon tank. I didn’t cycle right and I used Tip fin bateria starter (pet store told me to use too much) And too fin conditioner My levels of ammonia have been reading on the strip test at .25-.5. Someone that has a lot of tanks directed me to use Prime Tetra safe start(the one with ammonia reducer) Ammonia neutralizer I saw that prime should be dosed every 24-48 hours until ammonia isn’t detected. Since I didn’t cycle my rank right (all fish are doing great) can I do the 7 days of the stability to help them? Should I use the tetra safe start (the one with plus wrote in green) every day too? Doing a water change doesn’t do me any good because I tested my tap water since I don’t over feed or anything and my tap water actually tested at the same fir ammonia as my tank water. So I should be using prime safe start stability? What should I do to help it
Just want to ask if i set my new fish tank and on instruction is writing is for new tank 1cup per 80l i just folow the 1 cup per 40l did is will be very wrong?
Week 5 on new tank cycle. I have 0ppm ammonia, 2 and now 1ppm nitrite and 5-10ppm nitrate. I'm dosing prime and stability daily. My nitrite has not reached 0ppm. Is my tank stalled or cycled?
This gives the impression that Stability is a 3 day cycle, but you were using established tanks right? Early in the video you mentioned algae growth problems in these tanks, doesn't that mean they were already cycled?
Can you do a really slow, step by step on setting up a dirt tank?! Like how do you get the dirt to stay under the gravel or sand? I've tried twice and the dirt doesn't saturate and goes everywhereeeee....... even when I try to get it wet before like whats going on am I buying dried up terrible dirt?!
I was wondering instead of adding food to start the breakdown could you add some water from your old tank like with the ammonia not already work because you already have a cycle tank in the system, already breaking down the ammonia
i just started using seachem stability today i got a 60 gal tank i put 6 cap full do i do half a cap the next day?i just started a planted tank i was using api quick start and prime for the ammonia my problem is with every reading my ammonia is 0.50 ppm or 1.0 ppm the nitrates 0ppm and nirites 0ppm every time only ammonia help
are plants ok whilst cycling? i'm just setting up a new 7 gallon for a fishless cycle but i went ahead and planted it fairly heavily, will that cause any problems? I'm doing same as you with Stability + fish food (can't get ammonia where i'm at right now). hoping the plants will help or at least not hinder, i'm also just running a good sponge filter, no HOB, but it's a new sponge - i've got a sick fish in my other nano and don't feel comfortable putting that sponge in a new tank...
Stability and every single product like that is not needed unless you have only one fish tank. You do not have one fish tank. So stability is a waste of money for you sir. Brand new tank sure. Or if you want to keep tanks separate from each other.

Same here, starting to cycle my 10 gallon tank.

That's what I heard
It's true
In my 15 years of keeping fish, seachem has been the most reliable and affective product line I have ever used.
Baby Kit is so adorable! ☺️

One of the best videos I’ve seen

Can you do a video tour of all your tanks? I'd love to see some of them up close.
I AM SEETING UP A TANK FOR MY GRAND DAUGHTER WHICH I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE. I HAVE THE STABILITY BUT I NEED TO KNOW HOW OFTEN DO YOU ADD FISH FLAKES? ALSO WILL I USE DECHLORINATOR ALONG WITH STABILITY?
should you turn off the carbon filter
Ditto, simple, useful explanation
Does that stop clear up the water?
Can I ask what kind of strips you use? I have three different ones.
Wow, everything looks great man!!!
Can I add my fish to the tank the first day I add stability

Ive seen videos where they add fish during this process. Not sure if that is a kind thing to do. Your opinion?
So I have a ten gallon tank. I didn’t cycle right and I used
Tip fin bateria starter (pet store told me to use too much)
And too fin conditioner

so what did you end up doing??
Also api has adminted they boost the test .25 to 0.5 false thay say divide it half for real ammount
Do you add abit of fish food daily for the 7 days for ammonia?
He said in the video that he only puts fish food in the first day but other people feed the tank daily.
I use Stability day one then I use Tim's Ammonia. Then Stability for a week. Boom cycle complete 👍
Just want to ask if i set my new fish tank and on instruction is writing is for new tank 1cup per 80l i just folow the 1 cup per 40l did is will be very wrong?

You could try a cupful of gravel or you could run a filter alongside the current filter and transfer it after a week or so
The beneficial bacteria grows on the surfaces of our tanks. Better to use a sponge filter from a cycled tank or decorations.
Is it worth the extra work
i just started using seachem stability today i got a 60 gal tank i put 6 cap full do i do half a cap the next day?i just started a planted tank i was using api quick start and prime for the ammonia my problem is with every reading my ammonia is 0.50 ppm or 1.0 ppm the nitrates 0ppm and nirites 0ppm every time only ammonia help
Did you get your help afterwards,?
Love seachem products.
How much stability should I add on a 40 gallon tank ?
4 capful of Stability
are plants ok whilst cycling? i'm just setting up a new 7 gallon for a fishless cycle but i went ahead and planted it fairly heavily, will that cause any problems? Yeah , plants don’t care about ammonia or nitrites , they actually absorb nitrates ( the fast growing ones ) . I always put plants from day one .
@@salvolondon plants absorb all three either through their leaves or roots.
I have nitrates and zero ammonia, and thought I could add fish, BUT my NITRITES were high and killed a bunch of fish. SO, check your nitrites too!!
Thanks! Most detailed explanation I’ve ever seen.
I use stability and I think it’s a great product!
Apparently these bacterias are photophobic so best thing is to pour the product just before switching the light off .
great stuff buddy
If I do the same for api quick start do u think I’ll be able to finish the cycle I’m 7 days
So how long did it finally take you? I'm over a month now trying to cycle 12 tanks!
If you have all those tanks , why don’t you just use filter media from your other cycled tanks 😳
I do. Just helping other fish keepers
i got a 125g
how much food should i throw in?
like u did or more?
thanks
appreciate it
just a pinch of fish flakes,no more
Fluval cycle works ten times better than stability. It took only three days instead of two weeks
I've made a horrible fucking mess
What happened?
Do that less.

He's obviously doing this for educational purposes for people that don't have an established tank.
After 7 days, should we still continue adding that stability?
