Habiba I'm off today and cooking green bananas and calaloo. I just had a slice of black cake while I waited for the bananas to cook. Courtesy of my sister who baked and sent it in the mail as she does every year. My twin sis and I sent her a 5qt quisinart machine so it would be easier for her to make her mix. Also to continue expecting our cake next year and so forth😄 We're sending her our usual sorrel drink for the new year. Took us awhile to find red label wine but the bronx always come through. Your cake looks amazing. I never had whip cream with it before so I will try that

I purchased your Kindle book, and about to make the cake, but do not see measurement of butter in the recipes. The butter is not listed as one of ingredients in the main recipe - or am I just not seeing it? Can you let me know how much better is needed or where I can find it in the book? Thank you!

Perhaps a week is the least amount of time . Ideally it should already be soaking for several weeks - if not months ! But no worries if you have not soaked your fruit yet another option is to stew it to soften the fruit and have them absorb the wine & rum.

You can just use butter OR butter and flour . It is up to you but usually I only use a generous amount of butter.

Just a lil input. In my islands, fruit cake is fruit cake and black cake is black cake..seems it's not so in Jamaica?
