I have to tell you a golden retriever is the best dog ever. And you will realize a house is not a home without a dog so you will be so happy for the addition to your family. I’m sure it will be great support for your child that needs it.
@@darlenedavis3585 I agree!
I so agree!!
Congratulations for 25000 subscribers 🎉 in the moment I knit another poppy tee by Petitknit
They really are! They are the best family dog!❤❤
Congrats on 25k subbies Selma. I'm knitting colourwork socks and my favourite knit is a vest I made this winter called The Riptide vest
While I watched, I was knitting on socks - vanilla socks in dusty pink tweed yarn. Congratulations on 25,000 subscribers!
Love your Solstice top with the skirt! A perfect pairing! Thanks for sharing your life with us for 7 years!
Oh gooseberries. My granddad was a gartner and had lots of everything gardenlike. Whenever we wanted something sweet, my grandmom would find a bowl telling us to fill it with gooseberries, and she would make them into something nice. And the quilt. It is getting beautiful. Lately I am finding, that I wanna do patchwork and quilts :)
Awww - what a cute little puppy. I hope that your child will thrive with the support they need from this new addition to your family.
Thanks Selma. I’m very interested in making your quilt.
Congratulations on reaching the 25K milestone. I always enjoy and am inspired by your podcast. Thank you for sharing your life with us. You asked what we are knitting. I'm working on finishing a sweater begun by a friend from my knitting group for her husband. She was dealing with cancer, which very suddenly took her life a few months ago. The sweater pattern is Little Wave by Gudrun Johnston. I hope that having the finished sweater will bring some comfort to her husband this Fall and Winter.
We have a big, gentle golden retriever who comes to our pub knit nights. He lies patiently under one of the tables hoping that someone with dog treats will show up. And occasionally he’s lucky.
Selma, you have such a brilliant eye for colour! The pink Tynn Line project is stunning with your natural colouring. Your grey short sleeve tee is stunning with your lovely skirt. Brava! Brava!😊
Yay for 25k!! Wow. And congrats on adding some floofy four legged chaos to your home. 😂 They are 1000% worth it for the giggles, the mental health benefits, and that you will always have a friend who wants to walk no matter the weather. 😊
I am currently knitting on Sari Nordlund’s Poet shawl, a throw for my sister outlaw for Christmas, and a pink and purple emotional support chicken for my neighbour’s sixth birthday. Congratulations on 25,000. That is so great.
I 'm currently knitting on a beautiful vest from Laine, " Kettle Cove" by Jennifer Brou. It's a beautiful design and I am using some delicious yarn, which was gifted to me by my beloved niece, Amalia, after all of my stash was burnt in the August fires in Greece. It's such a big comfort to just knit, knit, knit.
Congrats Selma! All your hard work shows in everything you do. 🎉
congratulations on the puppy! i wish your child and the puppy to thrive together!
Congratulations Selma on your podcast achievements! There are obviously 24999 other people out there just like me who love you so much. I love all of your content - the knits, the sewing, the outdoor pursuits, the snippets about your family and now a puppy!! I have watched you from your very first episode and am happy to think we will have another 7 years (at least!) of hearing your lovely soothing voice over the inter web. Cheers to you!!
25K! Wow! That’s great. Congratulations! I’ve been watching a long long time now. I was very happy to hear that you misplaced your stash of yarn and then discovered it almost in plain sight. 😂 It’s not just ME?!? Love your Ranunculus SO MUCH! And can I just say, to know the love of a dog will change your life forever. It’s going to be wonderful. Golden Retrievers are the ABSOLUTE BEST! She is adorable!! My youngest son is a Veterinarian and the techs he works with are SO important. Give yourself a full year. Patience. Then you’ll have the best friend in the whole world! I mean it! So happy for you. Read Zak George’s book about training puppies. Watch his TH-cam videos. He’s so good.
Yeay for 25K! 🎉 Congratulations! Love your podcast, I hope you’ll continue to do them for many years more
I love your new top - it goes beautifully with your gorgeous skirt and i think that is such a clever idea to take the skirt to the yarn shop. Your Mariposa is looking so pretty as well. I used the Tyne Line with a silk mohair for a Ranunculus and loved the pairing. I am very much the same with sewing. Knitting is restful and relaxing. Sewing takes my focus and kind of brings out adrenaline in me. I can only do it during the day. Congrats on getting to 25K subscribers! You are SO not a ding-dong. But i understand the feeling. ;) Have a wonderful time at the retreat. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful makes and WIPs. My favourite knit is my first grey Still Light Tunic out of Drops Alpaca. I love wearing it and the teenage girls at my school have said “I would even wear that”. High praise. ;)
Selma, pockets are easy: for each pocket, cut two identical pieces and sew them to the front and back of your skirt. Then, when you sew the side seam, you go straight down to the pocket, around the pocket, and then straight down to the hem. Repeat on the other side.
My favourite make is a Marie Wallin Nordic Hot Water Bottle color work. It was the first time I did color work. I loved it!
Congratulations on reaching 25,000 subscribers. I love watching your podcast, especially your travels.
The 'Wedding Socks' 😮 ❤ What a fabulous idea and precious gift idea!!!!
What a lovely garden, lovely knits & sews, ...lovely podcast, as always! Thankyou for your extravagant photography sharing & thoughtful celebratory prizes. Congratulations for all the milestones!🥰❤️🧶
So glad you found the bag. I put things 'in a safe spot' then forget where that safe spot is when I want them.
I still miss my beloved golden retriever. I had dogs my entire life, and loved them all, but my golden retriever, Darcie, was a special soul who was joyful, empathetic, and devoted to her ‘humans’. I hope that you receive as much happiness from your puppy.
Clear window envelopes that bills arrive in, make strong enough paper for quilt templates. Our 20 y.o. cat Bella still ruled the roost when Evie our cavoodle arrived. Bella unfortunately has since passed. Sadly no more cats as we have snakes. And Im allergic to cat dander ad I have got older. Hope we have a decent summer here for fruit on the flat peach, pears and boysenberries. Im learning french but its a marathon these last few years, grappling to understand what is being said in French when I listen. We are going to Paris in November.
Glad to see you! and the yarn and colors you have shown, are absolutely beautiful! Your presentation tonight has been wonderful 🌻
I've enjoyed your vlog since the beginning, can't believe it's been 7 years! 🎉
Yay! Thank you!
Congratulations on reaching this milestone! Good luck with the puppy. She’ll be a treasured member of the family in no time!
The animals stole the show in this podcast! Great shots of nature at the the lake and of course a puppy! My first thought did go to Yoda, but she will let her will be known. So much excitement ahead!
I laughed out loud when you said, “there was swearing going on “. 😂I can relate.
I really enjoy watching your knitting and sewing projects take shape. I always look forward to a new episode.
As a quilter I understand your wanting to work & try to finish quilt as quickly as possible. I'm enjoying my knitting journey. I'll need to keep an eye open for New Mexico retreat.
I’ve also started sewing garments this summer and I got really into it and made two dresses and two blouses back to back 😅
Congratulations Selma! What a milestone! Enjoy the new puppy! Dogs are a wonderful addition to any family! Thanks for the sewing inspiration as well as all the fabulous knits ❤
Congrats on 25k followers. My favorite making is a sweater I made 20 years ago using two up cycled cashmere sweaters which were bought for my husband and I for our wedding in 1984. After some years there were moth holes. So reclaimed the precious yarn combined the two together and knitted one for my self. I still have and wear it in the cold winters.
Smushy, yummy and luxurious yarn; a beautiful Solitaire Top; gorgeous sewing pieces; lots of newsy bits; sound choices re rest and relaxation(Go Selma) 😊The pattern choice from Isager No 4 is A***** and the yarn colour is ethereal.
So glad you found your 'lost' yarn. Can't wait to meet your new family member. She looks so playful. Another beautiful'acquisition'.
Congrats on achieving the 25 000 subscriber mark. ❤
Hi Selma, I’ve been enjoying your TH-cam channel for over a year now and love seeing all the knits you get into! When you mentioned sleeves somehow shortening over time, it reminded me of something I think I saw Emma of Woolly Mammoth Yarns had mentioned on her channel - she said that over time, with natural wool, the underarms can felt with friction which causes a shortening in the length. She also talked about the same concept with socks made with non superwash wool; how she knits her socks maybe a couple centimeters longer to accommodate for the shrinkage of the sock due to felting.
You are doing an awesome job on your scrappy quilt! I love making scrappy quilts. It is easy to get in the zone and loose track of time when making those blocks-but don’t forgo your sleep 😉
Love your pod casts 😊 and hope I am not too late to enter for the give away. Congrats on your milestone of 25k subscribers 🎉
Hope you enjoyed New Mexico 😊
The project I am most proud of is my Twenty Four Birds shawl for Helen Stewart's MKAL a few months ago. The pattern was gifted by a friend so I blindly jumped in. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole MKAL process and I was very challenged by an all over lace project. The result is beautiful!
Congrats for 25K!🎉
Your garden is beautiful. What do you do with the abundance of gooseberries? Congratulations on the new puppy. The first 6 months are challenging as you train and learn to deal with a puppy. In time you will all adjust and you will simply fall in love with them and wonder how you lived without her. Unconditional love, constant companionship all wrapped up in cuteness.
OMG, Yoda dear, take care! Of yourself as well as of everyone in the house 😺
What a lovely garden you have! I love gardening too. Knitting on the porch is one of my favourite things about early summer mornings
Your new puppy is super cute. Make sure Yoda has vertical places she can go to escape puppy that will elevate some of the stress from the change. And that way she can feel safe. Enjoy all of the puppy breath kisses!!
Memory certainly is interesting. Memories are often not truth. One could say to remember memory is a figment of your imagination lol.
Hi… that is so funny that that yarn was sitting in the entrance in the yellow bag. Yeah memories do trick us.
Awww your new puppy is super cute! I hope you named her Purl!!! May she be a delight to your family, and a great companion for your son.
My goodness, you have/are having a hectic summer. And a new puppy! He's adorable. And congratulations on a subscriber milestone.
Congratulations on 25K subscribers! Please *don't* enter me in one of your give-away selections; I've been knitting since before you were born (!) and don't need any more yarn -- or project bags! LOL!
A word about string quilts (what you really were making with all that fabric and paper): a) they are *wonderful* for using scraps of fabric; b) you don't have to colour coordinate unless you want to; c) you don't have to cut fabric strips the same width or length -- though narrower than 1" or 3/4" is tricky -- unless you want to; and d) eventually you *won't* need a line drawn on the paper -- you'll be able to just wing it. You can begin by putting your 1st fabric down on the paper, putting the 2nd fabric on top of it -- right sides together -- stitching it down, flipping the 2nd one open, pressing it and continuing to 'flip and stitch' on both sides of the centre fabric until the paper is covered. The thinner the paper the easier it is to tear out -- I use old phone book pages. And use a smaller stitch size on your machine than you wotherwise would -- again, this makes it easier to tear out the paper. You may have been told all of this before but if not, I hope it helps going forward.
Good luck with the puppy -- trusting and hoping he will turn out to be a real blessing you and your child who needs some support; 🙂
I love the coral colored sweater! Years ago I made an alligator .scarf for my Grandson . The scales on the alligator looked like the flowers on that sweater Lol. Just goes to show you how versatile knitting is. I am working on my Knitmas . Hats , one for each of my Grandkids, my beautiful Daughter In law for Christmas. I have been doing it for years. Sometimes in addition to hats knit gnomes . Last year it was a gnome ornament for each of them.
I always enloy your podcasts. congratulations on reaching your goal. This past August I am learning how to do crochet. Thank you for your relaxing podcasts
Wow!! Viva for the number of viewers - gosh I remember when were just a few hundred....How very lovely for you and for us!!
My Paul Klee sweater in Rowan Felted Tweed with a touch of Kid Silk Haze in the colorwork really makes me happy when I wear it. So comfortable and colorful. I did corrugated ribbing on the cuffs with the same color sequences as in the yoke, and I’m pretty proud of how good that looks. 🎉
What a lovely episode…again. Beautiful projects, exciting puppy news, beautiful scenery in your video clips, bountiful garden, more inspiration! Congratulations on this milestone. Thank you, thank you for all you do for our community. 🎉🎉🎉
Ok, I’ve enjoyed watching your 101 episodes over the last few months. I hope to run into you at the local festivals. I recommend you visit the Kitchener Waterloo Knitting Fair one year. Thanks for the ideas about notifications and the up front news about fails and issues.
Thank you for your lovely podcast 😊
I have a Labrador and his best friend is our cat. The cat was two as he arrived and it was love of the first sight❤.
Greetings from Germany / Bavaria
Vroni
Memory is a funny thing, haha, i get it!! So glad you found the missing prizes…
Congratulations Selma on the podcast and getting a puppy!!! What an episode of creativity in the making. Looking forward to seeing all the sewing projects as well as the knitting. Thanks for sharing how you store your knits. The retreat in NM sounds like such a delight. Best of luck with the puppy and of course to Yoda adjusting as well.
My oldest daughter has numerous medical conditions, and her service dog is the best thing that has happened to her. We also got him as a puppy. Just a head's up, every dog goes through a chewing, annoying, peeing, troublesome, patience-needing time period during puppyhood that will make you think you've lost your dang mind.
Amazing how our memories play tricks on us! I’m so glad you found the yarn and bags{
Very recognizable what you say about sewing clothes and nervous energy, Selma
Congratulations 🎉 Selma!! 25000 viewers and 7th podcast anniversary is a huge achievement. I love all your knits and sewing adventures 🎉. All the best for the next 7 years!❤
Selma don’t worry about Yoda she will adjust. We got a puppy years ago with our 8 year old cat, the cat definitely set boundaries with the puppy but within a few months they would sleep together often. Best wishes. 😊
I look forward to your pattern for the solstice sweater. It’s lovely!
Marie Wallin’s Oregon cardigan. I love the autumnal colors. 🧡🧡🧡
Love your podcast. It's a special hour, having breakfast with you, that I enjoying so mutch 🥰
Glad you enjoy it!
Congratulations on your 25K milestone! As an avid quilter, I feel your obsession and late night piecing LOL. I agree with you on the loveliness of Tynn Line. I just finished the Anker Summer Shirt with double strands of it, and what a wonderful fabric it creates. With trepidation, I just started using the magic knot, and so far so good. Fingers crossed!
You might find Lift With Cee a helpful YTube channel for weight training. I’m over 70, and love her exercises.
Oh my, your new puppy is adorable! Best of luck with your training.
Hope you enjoy all your upcoming yarn festivals.
Thanks for the recommendation!!
Congratulations reaching 25000 followers, that’s a lot! You created a beautiful outfit by combining the Solstice top with that skirt. It really looks nice on you. A new puppy, that’s exciting! So cute.
What a fun episode! After knitting a series of sweaters and big projects, I've turned to knitting tiny things: baby sweaters and a head wrap. Never in a million years will I wear a head wrap, but it's my first time using Spincycle yarn, and now I understand its allure.
Another great episode!! You have a beautiful garden!!! Sewing intimidates me, but when I do sew I get obsessed and stay up late!!
Thanks for your company knitting today. It's ok to have ding dong days every now and then 😂
Hopefully not more often than that!
Interesting to see some sewing projects as well as the knits. My favorite knitting projects are shawls; small to large, triangular, crescent, assymetrical, usually something with lace. Fortunately I have 4 daughters and 5 granddaughters who all enjoy receiving a finished product.
Summer time is the time for knitting socks! I have 5 pairs ready to send to my son.
I'm late to add a comment here but I love that cute gray sweater you made and am interested when you post the instructions! I'm currently working on the cutest little Fingerpaint pullover for a new family member. It is gray, yellow, and white. :)
Congratulations on reaching the 25K milestone and welcoming the lovely Golden Retriever into your family.
My current favorite knitting project is the Soirée Scarf featured by Purl Soho (Gaby Bush, designer). I knit the increase half in one color of Linen Quill yarn, and the decrease half in another color.
The Magic Knot is so useful. Once I have tied the knot and clipped the ends, I put a small dot of Fray Check fabric sealant on the knot to keep it secure. Fray Check is washable and invisible once it dries. I mention this because some knitters report that the Magic Knot can fail.
Selma, I love hearing about your makes other than knitting. It encourages me to get my quilts worked on and pull out my serger & sewing machine to clothes. Sometimes I get in a rut and just knit as it's the easiest project to grab. Congratulations on your 25k!
I too had a special child. We had golden doodle as an assisting dog.
You have been busy, indeed! It is amazing how much you have accomplished with all of the extras you have been up to. I find I can get drawn in so many directions that it is hard to accomplish any one of them in a timely manner. Favorite project? Difficult question but I love my “Nancy” cardigan. It was my first attempt at color work and also is a lovely reminder of my trip to Oslo several years back now. I’ve taken to purchasing local yarns from my travels and have my “Austrian” socks, UK socks, etc. It turns into fun three ways: buying the yarn, knitting it up and then remembering the trip when I get to wear them.
Your puppy will be a lovely addition to your family. They are such special animals. I know what you mean about your memory playing tricks. I also couldn’t find some yarn and discover about six weeks later that it was a different bag to what I thought. 😄 so many milestones this year! Congratulations.
I'm totally with you on sewing, I can spend a whole day sewing and then need to sit and relax with knitting. I think they are just different experiences, but sewing is definitely more scary still for me too.
Selma, I KNEW you hadn’t lost the yarn! 😂. I’m glad you finally found it. I hate it when I lose things. Your quilt looks AMAZING. My two most favourite knits: 1) My Mid-Mountain Pullover by Anna Daku (The Bluebird Box)-it fits perfectly and I love the corrugated ribbing. 2) My Traveler Hoodie by Andrea Mowry-it’s just so cozy! And the hood is excellent for taking a Sunday nap.
Congratulations on your new service puppy!!!
My most most memorable cardigan is the one by Sidsel Hoivic, called 'Paisley Jacket 😊❤
Your Rhinebeck outfit is going to be stunning. I look forward to see it when finished. I also look forward to see your Mariposa from Helga Isager. The colour you knit in is so beautiful 🥰
I love my weighted vest Selma, I’ve started with 12lbs and have been wearing it not only on walks but also just around the house doing regular activities. Also on a weightlifting journey. Mobility mobility and mobility!!! ❤❤
My most favorite knit is the Sandwater sweater designed by Anne Feitelson. It was a big challenge and well worth the time and energy it took to make it.
Congratulations to you on your 25,000 subscribers and seven years of podcasting! Wow! What an achievement! I always enjoy your podcasts. I love it when I’m watching a knitting podcast and my sewing mojo gets a boost. Like you I find sewing enjoyable but a bit frustrating; and, again like you, I feel knitting is a more relaxing activity.
Congratulations Selma🎉! Enjoy your sweet new family member🐕.
Congratulations on reaching 25K. The monthly challenges are inspiring. Twisted sounds like an awesome festival to attend.
Oh my goodness, that new quilt is gorgeous! The fabrics are amazing. I think I have watched a short movie of the Long Song. It left me scratching my heard for some reason. The puppy is soooo cute! The police dept where I worked for almost 30 years has gotten a Golden retriever. The dog is a PTSD dog and will live at the station 24/7 in case he is needed if the officers have a disturbing call that they have responded to. His name is Tucker, which is funny because my dog is also Tucker and he is a golden doodle! Loving the sweater that you are wearing! Hoping to win a prize!
I am working on the Elve slipper. I have made two pair and making a third. Just discovered the designer has more slipper patterns. I love them.
I have a golden doodle. The personality is wonderful. She communicates with her eyes. We love her so much!!
I usually don't like quilts but you've really inspired me with that striped one. Maybe I'll make a project bag out of it for starters... 🙂
Thank you very much for your podcast. I am following you from the middle of Germany now for five years. I went back to old podcasts and I would really see them again. And I saw the older ones as well after I found you. Stay healthy and happy (knitting) with your familiy and everything. Kaete from Germany. I wish you the best with the dog. I am living with dogs for over twenty years now. But this means: less traveling, more responsibility. I never gave one of my dogs to strangers. Only to family or I stay at home. My two Airedale Terrier are now six and seven years old, a joy everyday.
Thank you very much for another interesting and inspiring podcast. Good luck with the puppy. I am sure your family will enjoy having her around. She will bring a lot of love for everyone. And Congratulations for the 25K viewers.
Just wanted to say Selma that you have every reason to be proud of your Podcasts. They are always informative, interesting and a great mix of topics all of which I enjoy. And may I add that I love your music choices and I look forward to them . Thank you for keeping them going. 50:28
Thank you ☺️
Wow!! Congratulations on your on your "growing family"!! How exciting for Stevie to experience training their new pup - and for Yoda to learn tolerance (please keep us posted❣) Congratulations on 25K subscribers!! I found you B.C. (Before Covid), and thanks to you, have collected new patterns, discovered new yarn dyers -which I've added to my yarn stash- and have enjoyed your company throughout the years. Cheers!
Thanks for always inspiring with your knitting and sewing. So much fun and lovely..
I like to knit for children, my grandchildren and others who don’t have anyone knitting for them. I wish you all the best 🥰
Love the top you’re wearing, it’s beautiful, love that color and the yarn. Pretty skirt.😊
Congrats on 7 years. Cute puppy
I am always knitting charity items, including baby blankets, preemie hats and chemo hats.
Thank you Thelm for another great episode ! Welcome to you dog !
