I enjoyed this so much. I’ve been off my knitting for most of a year except for socks. My parents died and I lost my creative mojo. THIS has kindled the spark again.
I'm so sorry for your loss! I finally got my knitting inspiration back and never made this pattern, but I'm ready! Let's do it! Love from Colorado ❤
I hope your knitting will be therapeutic in this time of loss- may it bring you peace and joy.
❤
So sorry for your lost. You'll enjoy knitting the ranunculus. As Selma I've just realized that I made 10 and still thinking of another one. 😘
@@sallysummerfield9952 I hope you will join in on the fun!! Sending you many hugs!! I hope you will take in the love that I’m noticing here!! So wonderful!! ❤️❤️
Ok, I think I REALLY must knit a ranunculus❤ thank you for sharing all of yours!
You should!
@@littlebigknits 🥰🥰
I like the bell sleeves on that last sweater!
Selma you are a national treasure! Make that international ❤
We love you all over the world!
🥰🥰😘😘🤗🤗
Love the ranunculus - I too consider it as a pallet cleanser because it’s such a quick and satisfying knit.
She did a really good job when she rewrote the pattern. Getting the update for free felt really kind.
I think my favourite one is the DK one I've made though.
I am on my 6th one and plan on several more!!! This without a doubt is my favorite knitting pattern!
Hello. I am not a regular viewer but a friend passed your video my way because we have discussed this ranunculus pattern. Thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts together. You were thorough and generous with your reviews and commentary. It must have been time consuming to create and edit. Thank you for sharing.
I’m late to the Ranunculus party, like you Selma I wasn’t too keen when I first saw it, but I’ve just completed my second and now understand fully why this is such a popular pattern. It’s incredibly versatile as you say and I love the way you can use just about any yarn you want. I think my favourite of your collection is your Christmas red, the colour is perfect.
Congratulations on your 100th episode!
If you want a Ranunculus to wear around the campfire try knitting it in Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton. I knit one using that yarn and it’s cozy, warm, not too warm, and knits up lovely. I started the neck using US#10 and then transitioned to an #8 and then a #7. The neck is #10 needles, and then the yoke is #8 and then after dividing for the sleeves I went to a #7. Knitting using the I Love This Cotton was my first Ranunculus. Like you, I loved knitting it up and have done about five of them now using different threads (Marino wool, Picnic Cotton from Purl Soho). Thanks for sharing. I have a second TH-cam channel. First one is doing well. I decided to separate my topics and create a knitting/crochet channel… “Yarn Tales & Threads”. I’m a fellow Canadian in Orangeville Ontario. Cheers!
I knitted a dk Ranunculus in Drops Karisma. Loved it! My favourite winter jumper xxx
I love the study of yarns. I grew up on acrylics and have been learning there are so many amazing natural yarns. I am also trying to understand knitting with more than one fiber.
each ranunculus is stunning fabulous colour choices congrats on 100 episodes keep taking care xxxx
Thank you so much 😊 Enid!!
Congratulations on your 100th episode! I have certainly enjoyed them, so thank you!!!! Totally inspired by your love of the Ranunculus, I have made 3. On 3/4 sleeved one which is my favorite, and 2 short-sleeved ones. I have mental plans for a wintery one and I would love another warm weather version. It’s such a great pattern!!
The sweaters are just beautiful!
Thank you!!
I havent made a Ranuculous sweater. The pattern is unreadable for someone with dyslexia. The pattern has information written in a complex way. I see you've knit so many and they all look great. Ive tried about 15 times and failed so I gave my purchased pattern away.
there are videos here on TH-cam to help you trough the whole pattern!
Wow you look beautiful in them all. Colours so beautiful
Congrats on your 100th podcast✨. Love all of your Ranunculus sweaters, especially the light orchid(purple) one...such a glorious color! Thanks for sharing!
Love all of your sweaters 😍😍😍
That was fun, thank you. So many pretty colors and even different textures, all from the same basic pattern. So creative and yeah, I can see you wearing it as a dress too. I have a sort of tank top 'shift' made of t-shirt material and immediately thought of that under it with a lighter shade of the same color over top. I look forward to seeing it when you do fit it into your already busy queue!
I knitted Swarovski crystals into the front yolk of my Ranunculus. The effect is subtle (dark purple crystals with dark purple yarn) but special enough that it has become my fancy Christmas sweater. Thank you for sharing all of your versions.
Fabulous! Thank you for the inspiration. I continue to hem-and-haw about yarn choice. I’m not a big fuzzy mohair type and would like to make it just out of plain, non-superwash fingering weight yarn. You’ve given me inspiration and lots of food for thought. Thank you. salam wa sa’aadah
Great versions. Planning my second. Long sleeved and I think I’ll do the icord but leave it as a bell sleeve. Need a red too. Great look for Christmas
Your timing couldn’t be more perfect! I had just wound up my yarn for my third Ranunculus here you are with this. Yay! Can’t wait to watch
Can’t wait to see yours Leanne!! 😘😘😘
Ooooo...love the red! I have a perfect skirt to go with it. I'll be hunting for red wool now...
I still haven't made a ranunculus even though I bought the pattern last year. I must get onto this! All of yours are so lovely and inspiring! 💜
Thank you Selma. I'm just planing to do my first Ranunculus.
I have wanted to try making a Rununculus and seeing all yours hanging together is inspiring. ❤
It’s so lovely to see all the different Ranunculus. It’s really amazing the different ways to make it. I’ve only made one, but I’ve definitely considered making more (if my queue wasn’t already so long! 😂)
You really inspired me! Now I know what to knit! Greetings from Cologne 🎉
I agree. Do the icord.
Selma, what an interesting episode. I followed each minute of it as if you were telling us the story of each your Ranunculi. You look so passionate. I'm very late on that one, as I own the pattern for years now and didn't try it yet... after watching this, I think it won't take me too long to finally try it. You really convinced me to take the step. Thank you Selma.
I am just finishing my first renunculus. It has been fun. I did finish my sleeves with the I-cord and they are just shy of elbow length. Thanks for sharing your renunculus journey!
I’ve knitted four of these… and now I need another one!! Thank you! ❤
You are so welcome!
Love your “collection” 😉
Like the I-cord for new one, but i’d gather up the sleeves more.
What a wonderful, comprehensive look into the Ranunculus sweater! Thank you! I've knit one with DK, The Fibre Co , Luma. It turned out tad too small but I gave it to my teen granddaughter. This inspires me to try another one! ❤
Wow 100 ... I remember the first one and that does not seem like very long ago! Congratulations! I too love the Ranunculus and the versatility of it.. I love the sleeve I-cord version with the short row shaping preceding it... I also love the I-cord as the finish to a bell sleeve... so many lovely and fun choices... Thanks for your overview!
Thanks so much sharing all your ranunculus hopefully I will complete the one I made last year but I goofed and forgot to switch needles back after ribbing on bottom so it fit amazing on my daughter except for arms. You have inspired me to try to fix it and plan on making more. Going to see if anyone knit in DK
I may be one of the few knitters who have never knit a Ranunculus but I have some alpaca silk in my stash that may make the perfect pairing for a falll stash bust project. Thanks for the inspiring video.
Selma I love the renditions of all your Ranunculus sweaters, just beautiful in all the array of colors. Can you believe I haven't even made 1 yet. Thanks for sharing.
You did it! I’m now officially sold on this pattern!! I’ve been shying away from this pattern as I was not particularly interested in it until watching this podcast. I have purchased the pattern before getting to the end of your video and have gone through my stash of yarn where I can now put some of it to great use. l am so inspired to make a few versions of this pattern! So excited!
Loved your most recent podcast. Having not made this yet… your discussions about each project has me considering it in the near future.
What a lovely 100th episode, such a delightful tribute to your ranunculus versions. Love them all! Thanks, Selma. See you soon 💌
Thanks for a fascinating deep dive into your Ranunculi makes. I found it interesting to see how the different yarns, textures and gauges make a difference. I'm one of the few to try still (always late to the party, by design😉) but have had the pattern for a couple of years.Getting closer. Never thought of it as a "palate cleaner",however. Go well in your days.🙏🌏🐨❤xx
This was a great and timely podcast for me. I have yet to knit my first ranunculus and this gave me lots to consider in terms of yarn choice and modifications. Thank you!
Selma, Thank you so much for this episode! I have only knit one Ranunculus, but you have inspired me to get going on another one. I love your choice of the pale colors.
You are so welcome! 🤗
I have had the R pattern for quite a while and haven't made one yet! I'll get around to it after seeing all the different possibilities you've shown. Thank you for reminding us that there's no wrong way to do anything with knitting (well, not really!)
Enjoy your knitting!
Congratulations on your hundredth episode! I have enjoyed your podcast so much and hope you will continue. The Ranunculus is a great project because it’s so adaptable and a quick knit. Now I have to finish my first one, LOL!:)
Hi Selma, thank you for doing this parade of Ranunculi! It inspired me to get out the one I made a few years ago inspired by the one you made out of Berroco Remix Light in the Birch color. I don’t know why I don’t wear it more because it fits very well and is flattering and so comfortable and soft in the Remix. Now I want to make another one in this yarn in a different color.
Congrats on your 100th episode. I am working on my first one right now (as a newer knitter). I can't wait to have it done to wear it. It's exciting that we're in tge same city 😊
What a great summary of all your Ranunculus! I’ve knit 4 or 5, agreed it is such a great versatile pattern. I’ve always used the original pattern. When in doubt what to do with yarn, knit a ranunculus.
What a wonderful and informative video. Loved seeing your sweaters and modifications. Gives me great inspiration for my own Ranunculus Sweater. Thank You
Congratulations on your 100th episode Selma. I have knitted the ranunculus with WYS Exquisite Lace and Drops Silk Mohair in cream and I love it, it is so beautiful . I really enjoyed seeing all your versions again and it was your inspiration that influenced my decision to knit it. I couldn’t pick favourite one they are all quite different, but I think the pink one you
had doubts about the length is actually quite lovely and you definitely suit that colour.
Congratulations with episode 100, Selma. I suppose I have seen them all and I enjoy your podcast very much. Greetings from The Netherlands. Mia
Thank you for this!! I still have not made one because it looks so oversized…..but of course it doesn’t have to be!!! Thank you for inspiring me!! & congratulations on your 100th episode!!!
I so enjoyed this video!! I am working on my 5th ranunculus and you have renewed my love for this pattern! I have a desire to make a nice wintry version!
Happy 100! 🎉 I have enjoyed every episode 🙂 thank you for sharing all your knowledge, and life with us ❤
Congrats on 100 episodes! 🎉 this convinced me to try making this… Knowing you can without the short row shaping is what I needed to hear as a beginner.. I have perfect yarn for this I bought Vienna in 2023. My first knit sweater, thanks for the inspiration 😊
Thank you for this video. I loved this pattern from the first time I saw it. It is so feminine looking! I plan to start it soon.
Loved seeing all of your Ranunculus sweaters and listening to your dialogue on each one of them! Love the 2 Ranunculus I have knitted, both in Lang Lyon 80% silk & 20% linen. Very recently picked up my Ranunculus WIP from Dec 2022 knit using Schachenmayr Catania, a beautiful Sport weight cotton made in Hungary, that I sized down; knitting with 4 mm for yoke and 3.75 mm for body. Didn’t like the twisted rib neck ribbing so have just cut off ribbing and removed the front short rows (a bit of a trial to do so) and redoing the neck band before returning to knitting the main body. Thanks for another great episode!
This was very nice episode. I'm planning to start my first Ranunculus soon. I think I'll be making it with Tynn line and silk mohair. Thank you for sharing your toughts and congratulations for 100 episodes❤ Greetings from Finland.
Fun episode! I loved seeing your Ranunculi. In fact, you inspired me last year to make a red one, which I am looking forward to wearing this Christmas.
Thanks so much for this episode Selma. I have had the yarn for my (first) Ranunculus for a year now but been busy with shawls and scarves - just finished the Party Line (again, thank you). I’m half way through a Close to You scarf then I want to do Joji Locatelli’s Venezia as I have a gorgeous merino/silk 2 ply for that which I have just balled up. I have 3 or 4 other cardigans on my wish list (yes, I have the yarn!) but maybe Ranunculus will now rise to the top?? Your podcasts are so inspiring, please keep them coming. 🧶👏❤️
Absolutely beautiful sweaters! I’m going to have to try knitting one. I have this beautiful dark olive green yarn that I’ve been wanting to make a sweater with, but couldn’t decide on a pattern. Now I know which pattern I want! Can’t wait to get started.
Congrats on 100! I guess the key to the pattern is versatility - yarn type and weight, sizing loose or voluminous, suiting most body types, as well as economy of yarn, speed of making, and so on. You described the process beautifully, and the proof was in the variety of your makes and how you wear each differently. Really helpful! And as a palette cleanser 😉 Thanks so much.
Thank you sooo much! I love them all and your enthusiasm is so contagious. It gives me the nudge to just go for it..I have about 6-7 different yarns in mind..
I have a feeling once I get going it will be several versions like binging.
When I find a pattern I enjoy I tend to knit it many times with different yarns etc.
Warm hugs to you!
Perfect timing. Especially helpful in guiding me which size I should knit depending upon which yarn I choose. Can't wait to get started thank you again for your very informative video
Happy 100th Episode. I wanted to thank you for this Ranunculus comparison. I really want to make one but nothing like the original gauzy version. That is not something I would wear which is why I never considered making one. But, with so many versions, I am now ready. I will prefer to make, like your dark green rustic one. I’m so grateful for all your thoughts and what you did and how it turned out. I know my first run of it will be trial and error but I’m looking forward to it. Thank you.
What fun! Thank you Selma. ❤
this was so enjoyable! gave me much to ponder. have yet to make my first. 😮
I shrare your love of Ranunculus, I made 10 of them, 6 I gifted ans I kept 2 shrot sleeves and 2 long sleeves for myself. I can now knit them in less than a week. They make great gifts because they don't have to be so fitted, plus they fit all types of bodies. My favorite ones were make with Camarose Snefnug or drops air, both very airy but warm blown yarns. I have yet to make one in linen, i'd like to try a chainette linen which is hard to come by. I also prefer the iCord sleeve for your newest Ranunculus, but it does need the diminutions, I agree. Lovely footage at the end thanks for the beautiful views of the Rideau River 🙏
The Ranunculus is one of my most loved patterns. I’ve made 3 to my self and 4 for gifts. And in a lot af different yarn.
And I think it was you that inspired me 😍 so thanks 🥰
Have a nice summer 🌞
Thank you!!
Beautiful sweaters !
Thank you! 😊
Great episode Selma, thank you. I agree with your sleeve choice for your current ranunculus, i-cord looks great 😊 Off the cast on another ranunculus 😂
Fabulous...I've wanted one of these for a long while. Very nice show.
Thank you! Cheers!
🙏Awesome, Thank you for sharing,I like making sweaters Top down, I'll surely make the Renuculus Design, nice Topper to replacing a Shawl 💚
I appreciate you sharing your experience with the ranunculus pattern. It’s back in my queue now.
I’m watching while knitting a linen Ranunculus! My 4th. I hope you try the arm hem short row finishing. it’s really elegant. Thank you for a great episode.
I have been wanting to make a Ranunculus so this was a great time to see this! I love the silvery grey one and that is what color I think I will look for! Thank you!
I enjoyed this episode enormously! 💖 Thank you so much for taking us on a tour through all the Ranunculus sweaters you have knit. Such fun & lots of inspiration. I’ve been craving a black one now for quite some time. I think now I might just have to have to have to make it! 😂 This was a great episode, Selma!
@@KnitMyWayHome so glad you enjoyed it my dear!! 😘😘
I loved seeing all of these knits. Thanks:))
You are so welcome! 🤗
Congratulations on 100 episodes🎉 and thank you for such a fun and informative video. I have just knit my first Ranunculus and will soon cast on a second 😊
Thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your 100th episode. I am inspired to try knitting a Ranuculus sweater in Tynn Line and mohair held together. I knitted one in Drops Air last winter and love it. I’m a fairly new garment knitter. I love your podcasts.
Brilliant presentation! Thank you.
You're very welcome! ☺️
Congratulations on episode 100! Love your podcasts - so clear and positive in attitude. I like how you describe how much you wear them and the yarns used. I avoided the ranunculus pattern for quite awhile because of the photo on the original photo. I just didn’t want that very loose see-through look. Then because of the podcasts and Ravelry projects decided to do it. I finally made one with soft sock yarn and doubled the yarn for the body for structure. Love it! It’s fun to do the lacework, quick, and adjustable to how you want it to fit for the body.
I only have one and I used suri with a cotton blend. I used a US size 8 needle so my fabric is not as airy as the pattern, which was my intent. I did long sleeves with about a 3.5 inch cuff. It turned out so well and I love it but I am not yet ready for another one.
Loved seeing the variety of yours.
Loving all of your Ranunculus sweaters. Have never liked the look of the chunky one that is generally pictured but all of yours are so delicate and pretty that I may have to “give it a go”. Thank you for sharing 🙋🏼🏴
First time viewer, drawn to your video by the title because I have just cast on my first Ranunculus. I’m happy to hear that you like the pattern so much that you have knit it again and again. I love the red Christmas version.
@@selfishknitter hello 👋 and welcome! 🤗
Fantastic podcast, on my favourite pattern. Always a joy to watch you, congrats on 100 th episode 😊
I've been inspired ! 😊
Congratulations on 100 episodes! It must take a lot of your time to assemble items , then film and edit. Thanks so much😊 for
You are so welcome! 🙏🏻
I love your podcasts and look forward to each one! I was so pleased to see this one as I'm about to embark on my first tanuculous sweater. You were so helpful as I have had many questions before embarking on this project. Thank you for all of this pertinent information ❤
I really enjoyed seeing all of your Ranunculus's. I've made several and they are not posted on Ravelry. I imagine there is a lot made that have not been counted by Ravelry. I will be make my next one maybe next week. In 2023 I picked up 5 skeins of this lovely soft blue yarn that has sparkle in it. The color name is breeze. It is fingering weight and I bought enough to make the Bright Side sweater and a Ranunculus. I am going to make a Ranunculus in black. I think it would be stunning in black. I can see it with jeans for black dress pants, or any color with it will work. Thank you for sharing these. They are all beautiful.
All the sweaters are beautiful but the last one looks beautiful on you. The colour suits you very well. (The others too but this one is my favourite).
100 episodes, congratulations! I love your collection of Ranunculus sweaters and thank you for all the tips.I have some BC Garn Lino I’ve been thinking of making it in so I was really interested to hear all your advice about knitting the sweater,
This is my sign to make my 4th ranunculus, I’ve just finished 2 wiips and I need a palate cleaner before I start my moby vest!!
Happy 100th podcast 🎉 I am hoping you will have 100 more I know that is a lot to ask but I am just enjoying your videos so much. Ran enjoyed all of them. ❤
Thank you for showing @darkharbouryarns Ranunculus. She has such a great aesthetic and I love her yarn colours :) Hello from New Zealand.
I am so excited! Stopped off to congratulate you dear Selma on 100 Episodes….!!! 👏👏👏💐💐🥂🍾Now on to the rest of the podcast!😅❤❤❤
Congratulations on your 100th episode! I loved this video. I’m a new knitter and have this pattern as one I’m aspiring to knit. 😊😊
