I enjoyed this so much. I’ve been off my knitting for most of a year except for socks. My parents died and I lost my creative mojo. THIS has kindled the spark again.
@@sallysummerfield9952 I hope you will join in on the fun!! Sending you many hugs!! I hope you will take in the love that I’m noticing here!! So wonderful!! ❤️❤️
I love the study of yarns. I grew up on acrylics and have been learning there are so many amazing natural yarns. I am also trying to understand knitting with more than one fiber.
I knitted Swarovski crystals into the front yolk of my Ranunculus. The effect is subtle (dark purple crystals with dark purple yarn) but special enough that it has become my fancy Christmas sweater. Thank you for sharing all of your versions.
Hello. I am not a regular viewer but a friend passed your video my way because we have discussed this ranunculus pattern. Thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts together. You were thorough and generous with your reviews and commentary. It must have been time consuming to create and edit. Thank you for sharing.
I’m late to the Ranunculus party, like you Selma I wasn’t too keen when I first saw it, but I’ve just completed my second and now understand fully why this is such a popular pattern. It’s incredibly versatile as you say and I love the way you can use just about any yarn you want. I think my favourite of your collection is your Christmas red, the colour is perfect. Congratulations on your 100th episode!
Fabulous! Thank you for the inspiration. I continue to hem-and-haw about yarn choice. I’m not a big fuzzy mohair type and would like to make it just out of plain, non-superwash fingering weight yarn. You’ve given me inspiration and lots of food for thought. Thank you. salam wa sa’aadah
That was fun, thank you. So many pretty colors and even different textures, all from the same basic pattern. So creative and yeah, I can see you wearing it as a dress too. I have a sort of tank top 'shift' made of t-shirt material and immediately thought of that under it with a lighter shade of the same color over top. I look forward to seeing it when you do fit it into your already busy queue!
Congratulations on your 100th episode! I have certainly enjoyed them, so thank you!!!! Totally inspired by your love of the Ranunculus, I have made 3. On 3/4 sleeved one which is my favorite, and 2 short-sleeved ones. I have mental plans for a wintery one and I would love another warm weather version. It’s such a great pattern!!
Congrats on your 100th podcast✨. Love all of your Ranunculus sweaters, especially the light orchid(purple) one...such a glorious color! Thanks for sharing!
Wow 100 ... I remember the first one and that does not seem like very long ago! Congratulations! I too love the Ranunculus and the versatility of it.. I love the sleeve I-cord version with the short row shaping preceding it... I also love the I-cord as the finish to a bell sleeve... so many lovely and fun choices... Thanks for your overview!
This was a great and timely podcast for me. I have yet to knit my first ranunculus and this gave me lots to consider in terms of yarn choice and modifications. Thank you!
What a wonderful, comprehensive look into the Ranunculus sweater! Thank you! I've knit one with DK, The Fibre Co , Luma. It turned out tad too small but I gave it to my teen granddaughter. This inspires me to try another one! ❤
The Ranunculus is one of my most loved patterns. I’ve made 3 to my self and 4 for gifts. And in a lot af different yarn. And I think it was you that inspired me 😍 so thanks 🥰 Have a nice summer 🌞
What a great summary of all your Ranunculus! I’ve knit 4 or 5, agreed it is such a great versatile pattern. I’ve always used the original pattern. When in doubt what to do with yarn, knit a ranunculus.
Selma I love the renditions of all your Ranunculus sweaters, just beautiful in all the array of colors. Can you believe I haven't even made 1 yet. Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful and informative video. Loved seeing your sweaters and modifications. Gives me great inspiration for my own Ranunculus Sweater. Thank You
You did it! I’m now officially sold on this pattern!! I’ve been shying away from this pattern as I was not particularly interested in it until watching this podcast. I have purchased the pattern before getting to the end of your video and have gone through my stash of yarn where I can now put some of it to great use. l am so inspired to make a few versions of this pattern! So excited!
Congrats on 100 episodes! 🎉 this convinced me to try making this… Knowing you can without the short row shaping is what I needed to hear as a beginner.. I have perfect yarn for this I bought Vienna in 2023. My first knit sweater, thanks for the inspiration 😊
I shrare your love of Ranunculus, I made 10 of them, 6 I gifted ans I kept 2 shrot sleeves and 2 long sleeves for myself. I can now knit them in less than a week. They make great gifts because they don't have to be so fitted, plus they fit all types of bodies. My favorite ones were make with Camarose Snefnug or drops air, both very airy but warm blown yarns. I have yet to make one in linen, i'd like to try a chainette linen which is hard to come by. I also prefer the iCord sleeve for your newest Ranunculus, but it does need the diminutions, I agree. Lovely footage at the end thanks for the beautiful views of the Rideau River 🙏
Thank you sooo much! I love them all and your enthusiasm is so contagious. It gives me the nudge to just go for it..I have about 6-7 different yarns in mind.. I have a feeling once I get going it will be several versions like binging. When I find a pattern I enjoy I tend to knit it many times with different yarns etc. Warm hugs to you!
Thanks for a fascinating deep dive into your Ranunculi makes. I found it interesting to see how the different yarns, textures and gauges make a difference. I'm one of the few to try still (always late to the party, by design😉) but have had the pattern for a couple of years.Getting closer. Never thought of it as a "palate cleaner",however. Go well in your days.🙏🌏🐨❤xx
Congrats on your 100th episode. I am working on my first one right now (as a newer knitter). I can't wait to have it done to wear it. It's exciting that we're in tge same city 😊
I may be one of the few knitters who have never knit a Ranunculus but I have some alpaca silk in my stash that may make the perfect pairing for a falll stash bust project. Thanks for the inspiring video.
Selma, what an interesting episode. I followed each minute of it as if you were telling us the story of each your Ranunculi. You look so passionate. I'm very late on that one, as I own the pattern for years now and didn't try it yet... after watching this, I think it won't take me too long to finally try it. You really convinced me to take the step. Thank you Selma.
I enjoyed this episode enormously! 💖 Thank you so much for taking us on a tour through all the Ranunculus sweaters you have knit. Such fun & lots of inspiration. I’ve been craving a black one now for quite some time. I think now I might just have to have to have to make it! 😂 This was a great episode, Selma!
Selma, Thank you so much for this episode! I have only knit one Ranunculus, but you have inspired me to get going on another one. I love your choice of the pale colors.
I have been wanting to make a Ranunculus so this was a great time to see this! I love the silvery grey one and that is what color I think I will look for! Thank you!
It’s so lovely to see all the different Ranunculus. It’s really amazing the different ways to make it. I’ve only made one, but I’ve definitely considered making more (if my queue wasn’t already so long! 😂)

I have had the R pattern for quite a while and haven't made one yet! I'll get around to it after seeing all the different possibilities you've shown. Thank you for reminding us that there's no wrong way to do anything with knitting (well, not really!) Enjoy your knitting!
Loved seeing all of your Ranunculus sweaters and listening to your dialogue on each one of them! Love the 2 Ranunculus I have knitted, both in Lang Lyon 80% silk & 20% linen. Very recently picked up my Ranunculus WIP from Dec 2022 knit using Schachenmayr Catania, a beautiful Sport weight cotton made in Hungary, that I sized down; knitting with 4 mm for yoke and 3.75 mm for body. Didn’t like the twisted rib neck ribbing so have just cut off ribbing and removed the front short rows (a bit of a trial to do so) and redoing the neck band before returning to knitting the main body. Thanks for another great episode!
Loving all of your Ranunculus sweaters. Have never liked the look of the chunky one that is generally pictured but all of yours are so delicate and pretty that I may have to “give it a go”. Thank you for sharing 🙋🏼🏴
Fun episode! I loved seeing your Ranunculi. In fact, you inspired me last year to make a red one, which I am looking forward to wearing this Christmas.
Thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your 100th episode. I am inspired to try knitting a Ranuculus sweater in Tynn Line and mohair held together. I knitted one in Drops Air last winter and love it. I’m a fairly new garment knitter. I love your podcasts.
Congratulations on episode 100! Love your podcasts - so clear and positive in attitude. I like how you describe how much you wear them and the yarns used. I avoided the ranunculus pattern for quite awhile because of the photo on the original photo. I just didn’t want that very loose see-through look. Then because of the podcasts and Ravelry projects decided to do it. I finally made one with soft sock yarn and doubled the yarn for the body for structure. Love it! It’s fun to do the lacework, quick, and adjustable to how you want it to fit for the body.
Hi Selma, thank you for doing this parade of Ranunculi! It inspired me to get out the one I made a few years ago inspired by the one you made out of Berroco Remix Light in the Birch color. I don’t know why I don’t wear it more because it fits very well and is flattering and so comfortable and soft in the Remix. Now I want to make another one in this yarn in a different color.
Congratulations on your 100th episode Selma. I have knitted the ranunculus with WYS Exquisite Lace and Drops Silk Mohair in cream and I love it, it is so beautiful . I really enjoyed seeing all your versions again and it was your inspiration that influenced my decision to knit it. I couldn’t pick favourite one they are all quite different, but I think the pink one you had doubts about the length is actually quite lovely and you definitely suit that colour.
Thank you for this!! I still have not made one because it looks so oversized…..but of course it doesn’t have to be!!! Thank you for inspiring me!! & congratulations on your 100th episode!!!
I so enjoyed this video!! I am working on my 5th ranunculus and you have renewed my love for this pattern! I have a desire to make a nice wintry version!
First time viewer, drawn to your video by the title because I have just cast on my first Ranunculus. I’m happy to hear that you like the pattern so much that you have knit it again and again. I love the red Christmas version.
Congratulations on 100 episodes🎉 and thank you for such a fun and informative video. I have just knit my first Ranunculus and will soon cast on a second 😊
I really enjoyed seeing all of your Ranunculus's. I've made several and they are not posted on Ravelry. I imagine there is a lot made that have not been counted by Ravelry. I will be make my next one maybe next week. In 2023 I picked up 5 skeins of this lovely soft blue yarn that has sparkle in it. The color name is breeze. It is fingering weight and I bought enough to make the Bright Side sweater and a Ranunculus. I am going to make a Ranunculus in black. I think it would be stunning in black. I can see it with jeans for black dress pants, or any color with it will work. Thank you for sharing these. They are all beautiful.
I enjoyed this so much. I’ve been off my knitting for most of a year except for socks. My parents died and I lost my creative mojo. THIS has kindled the spark again.
I'm so sorry for your loss! I finally got my knitting inspiration back and never made this pattern, but I'm ready! Let's do it! Love from Colorado ❤
I hope your knitting will be therapeutic in this time of loss- may it bring you peace and joy.

So sorry for your lost. You'll enjoy knitting the ranunculus. As Selma I've just realized that I made 10 and still thinking of another one. 😘
