Professional with whimsy. Definitely the perfect balance of them. And your shirt is gorgeous too! We’re just into spring so your shirt is like all the gorgeous gardens here at the moment. ❤
You are a genius with trims! I could list so many examples from your makes where your trim choice is impeccable, but this dress and your spooky Gunne Sax from 2022 are my favorites.
I love the bib and the trim you added, they made the dress very special! The shirtwaist I made is a lot more simple and you got me thinking I maybe should add some trim... 😊😊
I just love the way your dress turned out! It's really nice, and fits you beautifully. I learned a couple of techniques you use, and am looking forward to implementing them. 👏🧵
The trim is really cute! I love how the whole thing turned out. I'm still working on my project for #shirtwaistseptember but hoping to finish it this weekend. I just hate buttonholes and it's holding me back.
The dress is absolutely stunning, Haley. And it fits like a glove! edit: With all the pintucks, sewn-in curved bib, full-on collar including a stand, and a hand-applied trim... 15 hours sounds reasonable. It might seem like a simple project but it consists of many time consuming details that (at least to me) are absolutely worth it.
It looks so beautiful! The trim may have taken its toll but it 2as so worth it! You might think about using an embroidery hoop in future for hand sewing on similar trims. It *may make it a bit easier on your hands 💕
Thank youuuu for this video! I have searched high and low for a tutorial on contrasting yokes because I couldn't quite figure out how to attach them. While this is not a tutorial, it's exactly the type of yoke I was wondering about, so this is extremely appreciated! I'll figure out the rest on my own. Thank you again 🩶
Wow, that dress came out so nice. It fits you so well. I think that will be very nice for work. Great job as always Hayley. I am enjoying the trim too, it was smart to put it on there.
This turned out so cute!! I do love the idea of this dress in terms of something professional, I might have to go look for one. That essex cotton linen is usually also my favourite too. Thanks so much for participating! I am really hoping for walkaway momentum too.
I love the added flower trim! The dress is so pretty 🥰. Thanks for continuing to do cost breakdowns in your videos as well. It reminds me to be more mindful in my own sewing as well
You’re totally right on our not pushing ourselves when we don’t feel OK. I had no idea you worked full time AND did a YT channel - that’s incredible (particularly as I know the challenges of living with chronic conditions, disabilities, including Chronic Pain Syndrome). This is such a super cute make and I absolutely love your fabrics in every project - should have said that before! Sorry I can’t help our financially right now, but I hope the comment, like and subscribing do help drive people to see this! I think there are a lot of us symptomatic at the moment. Our weather has gone from fairly nice to wet, humid and generally yuck as autumn heads in. Every time there’s a season or temperature change, my body objects! Courage and solidarity, my friend x
So cute!! I was actually planning to make a dress very similar to this for shirtwaist September! It’s blue with a white pin tucked bib. Your use of trim really made yours extra special looking. Nice job! It looks like it fits perfectly too.
I love the trim detail you added to the dress. I think it gives it a finished and polished look but doesn't make it look juvenile. If that makes sense.
This came out super cute! I love that color and the trim was really a perfect match. I love trim but hate hand sewing it and so I usually skip it, but it just occurred to me that maybe machine sewing could work if you use an embroidery foot and drop the feed dogs? I think it would only work well with trim that was all one color though or if it had a border that was a single color. Now I want to try it….
Thanks for showing the cost analysis, makes one appreciate one's storebought clothing more. And perhaps makes one stop buying more, at least in my case. I only buy work tshirts, socks and underwear these days. And I'm trying to learn how to make tshirts and undies because sweat shops suck and I don't enjoy supporting them in any way.
I'd also like to learn to make tshirts and underwear because in general those are the things I still buy too! Sewing is a lifelong learning skill so I know I'll be able to do it someday!
Hi Haley. I love watching your videos and am always fascinated with your cost breakdowns. Your dress is absolutely lovely. For funsies, I tried taking a screenshot from the reveal portion and did an image search using GoogleLens. I found several similar dresses (and sewing patterns which was unexpected) as different price points. I do not know if this is a tool you use now when trying to find comparables, but if not, it might be another technique to use in your arsenal. 🪡
Thank you, I use that tool all the time for my real job idk why I haven't run my own sewing photos through it. Now laughing at myself for not thinking about doing that haha

Thank you so much, the comments always help! And yeah weather changes are hard, anytime we have big turns here I feel it!
Love the trim! If I made it for myself, I would probably round out the bottom part of the bib... 🤔
Yeah, when I was sewing it it did feel pretty square
came out so good 🤌🏼❤️ the shot with all the flowers surrounding you, so beautiful!! love your videos !
Thanks Jen!
Spectacular 😮
i love this a lot more than i thought i would, it’s so polished and cool! 😊
Thank you!
Wow looks stunning and ideal for a day out or just for work ❤
Thank you!
Such a beautiful dress! That trim is so lovely 💚
Thank you!
Hi Haley Marie. I love the shirt dress. The trim and the touch of white in the shirt really makes it.
Lovee❤the flower trim you used.
So cute!! I was actually planning to make a dress very similar to this for shirtwaist September! It’s blue with a white pin tucked bib. Your use of trim really made yours extra special looking. Nice job! It looks like it fits perfectly too.
Great minds think alike, I love this combo a ton! Thank you!
That was fabulous! 😄 I have MS and understand the pain. Take care, and get a thimble!
Lol for some reason thimbles can make my joints worse because I move my fingers so weird with them
WOW! Great job! Your dress turned out fabulous. The trim is just the perfect touch!
Thank you!
Super cute 😍
I love the trim detail you added to the dress. I think it gives it a finished and polished look but doesn't make it look juvenile. If that makes sense.
Makes total sense! Thank you!
Wow, when you turned around your hair looked so great.
Gorgeous!
Perfection!!! The white Bib and trim.... just perfect! You always seem to find the additional touches on your makes! Well done!
Thank you! I am always looking for ways to add cute little details because that is my favorite part of vintage clothing!
Amazing fit for you.
Thank you, Lynn!
Stunning! ❤

Yes, with single color trims there are a lot of tricky stitching stuff that can make the machine work!
that turned out great! i was a little iffy on that trim but I think it's my top feature! great work sewing! im procrastinating on mine lol.. tfs:)
Thanks! And procrastination is so easy to do!
Great job!
Love it!
That turned out really nice! The hand stitched trim is a really nice touch. Your channel is awesome, thank you for all the original content 😊
That turned out adorable!
Thank you!
