For me, though, figuring out the screen addressing and writing and optimizing routines for sprite rendering _was_ the fun part. Having all that done for your in hardware is kind of off-putting. I believe the reason so many great programmers stem from the Spectrum lies precisely in the fact that it was so limited. Having to come up with clever ways of overcoming its limitation was what really honed your skills.
there is nothing valuable in restrictions itself, they are secondary as result of real life, in the old times zx was the only cheap option, today it is real sport, this is the reason for being so popular
haha the Spectrum next is gonna make up for all the blue screens we've dealt with since 1995 , the beetles breaking up, you name it , bloody fantastic. it will be nice to get what you want for a change.
next is not loki in any way, think of 5volts logic and max 10 mhz... next uses hardware equal to ps2.. so must deliver result equal to ps2. IT IS NOT spectrum
Wow blast from the past I was a manager at Software Super Stores, in Stockport then Wigan 😃😃
great interview!
Thanks for this video.
Where are the infos to know how to use the RPi connected to the Next, please ?

Well said sir.

Hardware sprites is going to be really nice from a gamers point of view.
