1:40 I have to disagree. Team success shouldn’t be the most important criteria. Players can’t help it if management makes poor decisions. I get there’s an argument that they should make everyone around them better, but it’s so much deeper than that.
I hate that narratives & analytics are the primary deciding factors in MVP races. If it were up to me, it would just be a good old fashion eye test & 1 question: Who's the best damn player in the NBA. It's that simple. Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, & Giannis would all have more MVPs than they currently do.
Jordan's '88 season is the best individual season of an NBA player of all time, people who say Bird or Magic should have gotten the MVP have no regard for reality. And Jordan was robbed of probably at least 2 more MVPs because of the "successful team" sentiment.
@@jessbactar8728 Since most stats weren't available when Wilt was playing it's impossible to tell, but it was certainly not "every Wilt season". If you think Wilt's worst season is better than the best individual season of all time in basically every metric we know today then you are rather delusional ;).
The problem I have with MVP is that, the criteria changes too much. If lower seeded team can have an MVP than. Kobe should’ve won it when, he dragged that Lakers team to the 7th seed years ago. Then with Westbrook, how is Westbrook a stat padder but Jokic isn’t? Don’t get me started on with D-Rose won the award over LeBron. That was an all-time joke.
You make great reports, but this seasons MVP is a pity MVP... Joel plays great but always plays like 50 games. He scores 40+ in blowout games when the game is over already, he stat pads a lot. His defense is great but overall, offense amazing minus the flopping, because like 6 free throws per game out of his 12 are bogus calls where he cries and yells. Giannis, Jokic and Taytum deserve it more.. but Nba i pushing for embiid for some reason, when Jokic and Giannis won, no one cried this much, now Embiid and his team, coach, ESPN cries for him. Give him his MVP and be done with it... He wont ever have a chance because he will get injured...
Personally, I'd want Jokic to win his third straight MVP... I mean the guy led his team to the top seed in the west. But, correct me if im wrong, if Embiid wins MVP,, is he the MVP with the least amount of games played in the regular season in NBA history with just 66? Lol
@@commentator245 i honestly wouldnt mind if embiid was mvp like 3 years ago, he played little but his game wasnt dependable on flopping, he was literally running through people in the paint. Now he scores more because he flopps ans yells, literally ay least 2 calls every game he plays NO ONE TIUCHES HIM, he yells like he is getting raped and gets 2 free throws... I know his body isnt strong enough for him to play like giannis, but he should have takeed care of the body many years ago, but no he started some seqsons chubby... For me, this year he isnt mvp.. and people ignore the stad padding, whats the point if u score 20 out of your 40 when there is 25pts difference and other team is giving young kids and benchplayers minutes... But everyone ignores that. Plus he always has a great team, i do not know why they havent won ring already... Few years ago with jj reddick that team was ring worthy... But embiid got injured in playoff, and he looked chubby compared to today, so its his fault he got injured...
Yeah the 99 season was a weird. A bit of a bubble year feel to it real but sorta not real feeling at the time. Karl’s MVP at the time wasn’t too controversial he was still great and his numbers were impacted 1 - but the weird ass shortened season but that combined with it being 1999 meant scores were down. 2020 bubble teams playing street all almost at times scores were up. I’d say Malone deserved that MVP. I think yeah his age but being the season after MJ retired - Jazz made the finals the previous 2 years and the Jazz come out and are still at or near the top? That helped Malone too
2017: westbrook deserves the MVP cuz muh triple double!!! 2018: well actually westbrook is stat padding to get the triple double (just like he was last year)
Kobe shoulda made it in 2006, trying to drag like hell those Kers to playoffs. Yeah I mispelled the name on purpose noticing how bad they were, as cheap as it gets. 35.4 5 and 4.5 an 81 and 62 in three quarters multiple 40 and 50 point games. What else? Damn
Mcadoo was underrated. 6'9 forward/ center who could score from anywhere and was a good rebounder. People also forget he played on the showtime lakers in the 80s
The bias is real. When Jokic was the 6th seed you mention the fact that the other mvp candidates had a much better supporting cast. However, regarding Westbrook, you conveniently ignore the fact that his team was significantly worse than Harden’s rockets and even worse than Jokic’s supporting cast.
Not really. Before that season, it was Harden's team that was projected to be worse. But the dantoni offense with guys like Ryan anderson worked well. Russ had oladipo and adams who were thought to be good talents next to Westbrook. But oladipo didn't mesh well with Russ ball dominance. And we saw the season after oladipos breakout most improved year. Russ doesn't elevate his teammates in the same way. A lot of those players post-russ turned out well in their careers, adams a rock for Memphis. Meanwhile, again nuggets second option last year was Barton. And Barton is already a bench warmer now.
@@panner11 Stop it. Westbrook’s team was significantly worse than Harden’s. OKC had Alex Abrines, Ersan Ilyasova, Taj Gibson, Norris Cole, Nick Collison, Kyle Singler, Semaj Christon, Anthony Morrow, Joffrey Lauvernge. Sabonis was a rookie, Jerami Grant was still young and hadn’t developed yet, Andre Roberson (great defender, horrible on offense), Oladipo and Adams were ok and Enes Freedom was good on offense but a cone defensively. Harden’s roster was vastly superior to Westbrook’s thunder. Adams was better with Russ than he is with Memphis, Oladipo and the other younger players weren’t in their prime so obviously they’d be better later in their careers you dullard. Also, KD, PG, and Bradley Beal all had their best season with Russ. This also applies to Ibaka, Adams, and many other role players.
The last two still bogus to me. Should of been Harden 2017 and one of the other two in 2022. 6th seeds losing in the 1st round shouldn't be mvp if there's clearly a better candidate.

If it were up to me, it would just be a good old fashion eye test & 1 question: Who's the best damn player in the NBA. It's that simple. Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, & Giannis would all have more MVPs than they currently do.
How the fuck were the rockets even considered to be in the East when Malone played
Jordan's '88 season is the best individual season of an NBA player of all time, people who say Bird or Magic should have gotten the MVP have no regard for reality. And Jordan was robbed of probably at least 2 more MVPs because of the "successful team" sentiment.
best individual season is anyy season of wilt lol
@@jessbactar8728 Since most stats weren't available when Wilt was playing it's impossible to tell, but it was certainly not "every Wilt season". If you think Wilt's worst season is better than the best individual season of all time in basically every metric we know today then you are rather delusional ;).
Lmao, Hakeem exist so shut up
Westbrook also broke the record for most triple doubles in the season
Division rules are gone now right?
Joel Embiid has officially joined the list
Spurs and Rockets in the East. My god, it seems so fake but I remember that NBA back then was weird af.
11:28 yea, that was Harden’s year. Though, Russ was close imo.
Don’t think anybody could argue Jordan 88 season.
And the winner of them all and Grand MVP goes to........ Michael Jordan. 23
Practically kept nagging voters to give him the award
The problem I have with MVP is that, the criteria changes too much. If lower seeded team can have an MVP than. Kobe should’ve won it when, he dragged that Lakers team to the 7th seed years ago. Then with Westbrook, how is Westbrook a stat padder but Jokic isn’t? Don’t get me started on with D-Rose won the award over LeBron. That was an all-time joke.
Where is steve nash 2nd mvp?
Lol
@@commentator245 No Bill Walton is.
@@ST-tf4sq not trying to defend Embiid or anything but Jokic has always been a chubby player his entire career😐
2017 was for Kawhi
Embiid deserves MVP
Undeserved MVP only because vote fatigue and the media narrative
@@zemljajeravna5336 Greatest scoring season by any player ever. By all the free throws it doesnt look like an mvp choice for mee
Carl is Fugazi
Yeah the 99 season was a weird. A bit of a bubble year feel to it real but sorta not real feeling at the time. Karl’s MVP at the time wasn’t too controversial he was still great and his numbers were impacted 1 - but the weird ass shortened season but that combined with it being 1999 meant scores were down. 2020 bubble teams playing street all almost at times scores were up. I’d say Malone deserved that MVP. I think yeah his age but being the season after MJ retired - Jazz made the finals the previous 2 years and the Jazz come out and are still at or near the top? That helped Malone too
damn they really gave Karl Malone the MVP also known for him the Most Valuable Pedophile
The greatest mvp of all time was jordan in 88
2017: westbrook deserves the MVP cuz muh triple double!!!
What else? Damn
bob macadoo was kd like before kd; people forget kareeem team was so trash with out him
Mcadoo was underrated. 6'9 forward/ center who could score from anywhere and was a good rebounder. People also forget he played on the showtime lakers in the 80s
@@tj5180 agreed man i wish people would appreciate him more plus if u wanna see player who was the orginal stretch 4 is mcadoo
I like your content. But you gotta get your grammar right dude. Past and present tenses should not be confused
No I think Jokic is winning MVP again
🏆🏆🏆, thats what i think
Joel Embiidddddddd
Isiah thomas got robbed in 2017
harden shouldve been mvp in 2017
You know ball
Russ deserved it idc
@@Maxjuliann shut up casual
If seeding matters that much than Jokic shouldn't have won last year imo.
Nah, real men know it's Kawhi Leonard
Westbrick the stat padder lol
Jokic 3 peat
I can't comment
The league should retire the number 23 #jordan
Embiid better send perkins a thank you basement for getting him that mvp.
I feel like the 70’s is a kinda underrated era.. there were just 2 leagues with top talent
No offense but we all knew russ won that mvp because he had that historic trip dub season since big o, only to averaged trip dub again 3times
Harden should have won instead of Westbrook. Check everyone's predictions for Rockets when Dwight left.
The thunder were also horrible. They would barely reach 20 games without russ. Even worse then the team russ had
@@tj5180 I doubt tank commander Oladipo and rookie Sabonis take that team past 20 games either.
Joel don’t deserve the mvp honestly
2020s gonna take that crown from the 70s
The Royals went 55-25 in the 1963-1964 season, but Oscar Robertson won the season MVP in 1964
Pretty much all of what you said about Moses malone in 1982 was false, he played for the 76ers at that point
No that was in 83.
He joined the team in 1983 in a sign and trade
first, havent even watched the video but i know it'll be great!
Jokic is the worst mvp of all time
Best mvp of all time, best passer in the history of the mvp, most efficient player in the history of the nba.
The last two still bogus to me. Should of been Harden 2017 and one of the other two in 2022. 6th seeds losing in the 1st round shouldn't be mvp if there's clearly a better candidate.
Embiid doesn’t deserve it
