Remember royal bloodlines is a replacement for biology in the university (which gives 20% or 30% more hp to cavalry) So you cant just get like 50%+ more hp
Coming from starcraft 2 it's quite funny to see that the micro intensive race requires occasional pull back micro. Seems like France is almost like protoss in it's economy and unit cost.
When the downside of the civ is they have to use faster producing discounted extremely strong units with their stronger economy, things might need a bit of adjustment.
There is no doubt that there will need to be several balance patches to get everything just right....if that's even possible. The original StarCraft had the best game balance of any RTS every made. It is a lot easier to balance three factions. Balancing eight is quite a chore. I have been playing for about a week now, and I think they have done a pretty good job overall, for as new as the game is. Each civ has an advantage depending on what age your at....some in Feudal, some in Castle, some in Imperial. The more civilizations a game has, the more homogenous the factions have to be in order to keep balance, and diversity of play styles. I definitely think that both artillery and ships need a balance pass, as there is no balance on water maps. The true genius of StarCraft was that there was always a counter to what your opponent was doing. There was no single unit that was overpowered. The most expensive units in the game could be taken down by cheap units, if you had the right ones built. There is nothing worse than end game units that really have no counter, and you just roll the map with.
Chamber of commerce is op. Leave it running on gold and claim it near the end of the game. Usually get anywhere from 20k to 50k gold from it to use to buy any resources you’ll need from then on
Thanks for all these guides man. I notice that you often send sheep to the mill, not the TC after a period of time. Is there any specific reason you do this?
I'm curious about the landmark. Normally, I'd try to figure out how valuable a bonus is. Looking at the school of calvary, assuming it is kinda expensive, building an extra stable does more for maybe a similar price (until you have 6 stables, which you might never have). Especially if you are resource limited at the beginning, training knights faster might just mean that your building is idle more often? Conversely, getting better 30% better merchants means that after the 4th one, you are better off than having one more merchant. My memory of AoE is that you eventually need to rely on merchants for gold as everything has been mined out, so it might be a better long term investment?

Question: I Play CO-OP, and the French Tech score is an issue. When playing CO-OP You look at score when the team wins. My Tech Score is 2-3 TIMES the next player. It leaps the total score. I don't have to fight and I win every time. Q: Why is my tech research score 113% 134 research count?
does crossbowman shields also work on like watchtowers? Also about guild hall. if you're collecting for example 160 food every 20 seconds. you switched to another resources. then switch back to food. will it reset to 20 again?
the guild hall in my french campaign functions in a different way, it produce the crossbows 50% faster and cheaper, anyone know why? was there a patch update?
You explain the build order way to fast for a new player. No way to understand that. You need text to make it easier to understand as it's just a 2x speed video playing where you are playing. I just got back to AOE but way to difficult to understand your stuff.
These are my go to guides when I start a new Civ. Only started playing and have played English so far, now learning French. I plan to do each Civ mastery tasks and use your vids to get me started with each one. Keep up the great work.

I gotta be honest, i didn´t liek playing the French very much, as powerful as they are, their mechanics are a bit uninteresting and everything is too expensive, I prefer the simpler pleasures of pastures and gers as the Mongols
If 10 is 10% of 100, how much is 20 of 200? :D What did my friend Lowko always say? Never do math on stream? :D Edit: something is off... In the College of Artillery it says 20% more damage even. But when you showed the unit at the start, it had 220 instead of 200, which is 10%. I am confused.
I don't really mind the Masteries, since these are kind of a way to test and experiment with each faction and how they work. It is unfortunate that these have to be done one at a time, but there's also no rush to do these asap anyways like a time-limited Battle Pass. As a tip for most of the faction Test of Strength (especially level IV against the Hardest AI) my go to map has been Mountain Pass, since usually you get a nice chokepoint in the middle to build a wall, towers, and keeps at and keep the AI from harassing you while you build up. The exception to this is of course the Mongols, which I've not reached yet, since they can't build walls. Also, have the map be fully revealed that way you can see the enemy AI and keep track of how far they've progressed and respond to any iminent attacks. High starting resources may be tempting, but this works both ways and I've seen the AI immediately build a Wonder right away (you could too of course) to progress sooner.
i swear the first time i downloaded the game i picked the french, i just felt they were op with their knights, it's known in all games french have the best cavalry known as Cavalier 😎
compared to total war/bannerlord/ect... these graphics look stupid... it reminds me of warcraft 3 frozen throne .. even age of mythologie looked way better than this...

What's the most defensive faction in AoE4? I know Mongols are the most aggressive I was just curious because I like to turtle up

11:58 should the royal cannon have 240 damage? consider they deal 20% more damage than the cannon, 220 damage is 10% increase, not 20.

So how to counter French? Rush them down early enough before their economy booms? Try your best with spearmen and crossbows? Also Vive la French!
Judging by how people often do it, the latter. Crossbows and gunpowder shread them pretty efectively.
Spearmen and crossbows! Building walls too because it slows the Knights down, also funnels them into a kill box
I always build walls when I see my opponent is going cavalry. Even palisades are effective in funneling calvary early to mid game.

School of cavalry is more for early rush and map domination. I think the market is always better in a team fight.

Balancing the civs is going to be a long road- french and rus are in an entirely different ballpark than weak civs like the HRE.

I think it's just the Trade Ship that can get 20% more gold. Not traders.
