    I agree. I meant in your backswing it appears that you don’t fold that right arm too much. You great great contact and I love what you do with the right hand through the ball. I have the same swing and pushing the right arm down and through gives me a few more yards. Keep up the good work!

      Hi Jeff,
      For me, it's about just getting my lead arm 'softened' up on the backswing .. and if I 'think' of 'bending' it even though I don't it does soften the arm somewhat and I do get more loading and whip into the downswing... I would love to be able to 'actually' bend my lead arm in the backswing because it would increase my club travel and leverage significantly.. it is just so hard for me to do after the millions of swings over the years with a ramrod lead arm in my swing...
      cheers JH

    Hi JH. The talk lately is that when Tiger is striking the ball his best is when he doesn't take a divot.
    You hardly ever take a divot in all the years I've been watching your videos. So you must be hitting
    the ball pretty pure. Great swinging JH.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have just always swung the club from significantly inside to out at impact which is a flat attack path into the ball which doesnt take divots as a steep angle of attack that most good players have with their irons tends to do.
      Tiger when he was younger had a fairly steep attack angle with his irons and took significant divots.. maybe after his injuries he cannot be as aggressively steep with his downswing plane and as a result has modified his attack angle into the ball with his irons.
      Moe Norman did the same.. he was very steep into the ball and took significant divots with his irons.. when he got older he didnt take hardly any divots .. I saw him actually hit some balls of a green once with a 7 iron and he didnt mark the green at all .
      Cheers JH

    good stuff jh.my personal feel is making a natural hinge and fold going back with clubface facing arc path.then driving the suplenated left hand is key for me . for me a steering an timing mechanism you can't though throw the right hinge away before impact being concience of left hand . I like to feel as though I'm really driving the left shoulder around the corner with that right side firing also.

      @1atomicgolf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nat,
      The individual mechanics will vary from player to player for sure but the main ingredients are the keeping the club face looking at the ball going back and whilst bicep curling the the trail arm and then just straightening the trail arm as much as you can at impact with the lead back of hand staying in control supporting the trail hand hit.

      Hi Adam,
      I certainly think its a 'simple' action'... not so much 'Elegant' though because I personally just try and 'smash' the ball with my trail hand and arm .

      Hi Peter,
      The ball flight I was getting today with the driver was very penetrating with a trajectory that got the ball hitting the ground and running... its still early days but if today's practice is any indicator its going to be a 'keeper' of a method for sure.

    hi, i will try this swing, again. it seems the way i used to swing like you about 25 yrs. ago. looks easier on the body, getting too old for all the body turn. that's for the young guys. will report back. steve

      @1atomicgolf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve,
      Yeah us 'Former' young guys need something that's easy on the body for sure and I think this swing is right on the money, there are a few things that need to be ingrained but I think I have the explanations for that ... I think its the swing I will be personally using from now on.

    JH, the pre swing where you fold your arms is different from when you actually do your backswing. Is the pre swing just to get the feel?

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Atitud,
      The demonstration is what I 'want' people to 'try' and do... and myself as well .. I myself get virtually no 'visible bend in my lead arm, but I do get a significant 'softening of the arm which lets me take it a bit further bac in the backswing.
      Because I have always had a totally rigid lead arm in my swing is so hard to get the brain to change that built-in physicality program.
      For other players if you can 'actually' get some bend in the lead elbow you will see a significant increase in clubhead speed, even though I don't actually bend my lead arm, the softening of it creates more speed for me .
      I have had the odd occasion when practicing when I have had ablur 6-8 practice swings in a row with an actual bent lead arm and then hit the ball and the power difference was amazing.
      So just try really bending the lead arm , it doesn't matter how much you bend the lead arm in the backswing because the sheer radial inertial energy will always straighten the arm before impact.
      cheers JH

    JH, what happened to the channel lock swing method? Of the two swing paths which do you recommend?

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fold and Hammer is a swing type 'alternative/option'... as are all the swings on my channel .. no one swing type will fit all players and the whole idea of my channel originally was to provide alternatives for people to try and see what variation of swing types I explain and develop are compatible with an individuals physical capabilities and learning uptake ..
      The Channel Lock swing process is a culmination of years of swing investigations relative to developing a 're[eatable' swing type... its the latest development iteration of all my years of swing developments.. its the best swing mechanics I have ever used to date and I will continue to refine and develop it ongoing..nothing 'happened' to the swing ...its still the best culmination of swing mechanics I have ever used .. and I will continue to use it ongoing as my absolute swing type choice..
      You have to understand that there are over 2000 videos on my channel and they are 'all' development and options of swing mechanics that 'may' help players.. as I said .. no one swing type fits all players .. the Moe Norman swing explanation was a long time ago .. a lot has transpired since that time in terms of swing developments etc ..
      cheers JH

    Hi JH, does fold and hammer work well with channel lock?

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ronnie,
      Fold and hammer will work from a trail foot ball position.. you just have to make sure the 'fold' is done in the direction of the 'channel' .
      As long as the shoulders are closed at address the folding direction should be ok.

    sorry JH but its seems as you are doing more turn than arm bend i think you may think that you are doing an arm bend but it just dont look like it so should we swing with more turn than bend of the arm. Brian

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Brian,
      I think I say in some of the associated videos on this swing type that I clearly am not achieving the amount of elbow bend that I am advocating but my 'intention' is significant to do so... what I found is that although the amount of elbow bend was not really happening to the extent I wanted the mere thought of wanting to do it softened my lead arm somewhat and I was getting more speed as a result....
      For me its very difficult to bend my lead elbow because I have always had a ramrod lead arm and have hit millions of shots with it so to get the old ramrod straight lead arm out of the brain is not easy... but I am working on it.... the suggestion from me to everyone else is to bend the lead elbow as much as you can 'if' you can.
      cheers JH

    Just curious JH. Do you feel that you are swinging the handle, pulling the handle or none of the above. I am liking this pretty well and also the short acceleration swing. You don't have to do much with the body with either one.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Larry,
      In 'any' swing I try or advocate I only try to done thing ..and that is get the clubhead feeling 'heavy' at 'all stages of the golf swing ... whatever the hands/arms 'have' to do to achieve that they just end up doing.. my thinking is always of clubhead 'loading' during the swing ... for me the tennis ball on a string twirling is what I try to achieve in all my swings .. I never try and 'put' the club in a specific 'position' during the swing ...
      If you think 'positions' in a golf swing you lose the free-swinging momentum of the clubhead .. I used to tell students that the feeling in any backswing or downswing should be that of if you had a clubhead that was only pushed on to the shaft and not glued that you would try and get the clubhead to be thrown off the shaft on the backswing and downswing.. if you think about what you have to do to get that resultant ...that is what I get my hands and arms to do in the golf swing.
      cheers JH

    Has channel lock replaced this option you first move is club face moving straight back not elbow bend from the start

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use this action in the CL swing ...its designed just to create more leverage from the lead arm .. with CL you still need to do all the normal associated mechanics of CL with the ball position and swinging in the channel off the ball in the backswing .. but folding the lead arm will not change the backswing 'direction'...

    In your practice swing video you bend/fold your lead arm but in your actual swing your lead arm is perfectly straight. I'm confused.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Allen,
      The video is about the 'theory' of the applied mechanics .. I cant bend my lead arm because I have applied millions of 'straight' lead arm swings over the years .. the video is really just an explanation of the 'potential' of the extra lever application ..
      Even though you don't see any real bending of the lead elbow/arm .. I am in fact applying a much softer lead arm that I normally would do .. and just that small application of difference made a significant difference in the power increase availability of the swing process..
      I am just telling 'everyone else' what they ';can' achieve if they apply the mechanics I am suggesting ..
      cheers JH

    it's a great search isn't it? A few weeks back I found that the swing seems to be more "Up and Down" as opposed to "side to side". Too much emphasis on the side to side motion. I mean the greatest drill has to be the old "feet together drill" which limits side to side motion. What you're doing seems to correspond with that also. I like the idea of pushing off the trail side also. Seems to work. A guy on another site said he hurt his target side shoulder while playing and had to finish the round by eliminate the pulling action of the target side shoulder and hit it better than ever "pushing" the trail side. Kind of like what that lee comeaux dude advocates. If you don't love the search - you'll hate the game.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frankly I think if there wasn't a 'Search' I personally wouldn't enjoy the game nearly as much.. going to the practice tee with always an anticipation of something different manifesting itself keeps the journey going. As far as the dominant side of the body being utilised in the Golf Swing ... it just makes sense to use all the dominant power available ... the key of course is the correct application of the dominant power components .... Lee Comeaux absolutely has nailed the dominant components application probably better than anyone has ever done. My own personal 'feeling' of the 'shape' of my swing is that of it moving 'around' my body with a specific circular/orbital motion... with any 'up/down' type process I tend to get my arms moving off away from my body rotation ... I like to feel as though if I took all the tension out of my arms they would wrap around my body on the back and through swing... the same as what would happen if you put an octopus on a flat turntable with its tentacles fully outstretched ( with the suckers not activated of course) then just quickly spun the turntable to the right ..his tentacles would wrap around his body on the same plane of rotation ... the same would happen if you reversed the swing direction. I like the arms never going off on any other plane other than where genuine rotary forces will take them. cheers JH

      Hi Anders,
      Today I made a bit of a breakthrough with the lead arm and how it should work on the back swing as well so there is a lot of the ;Lead Arm' in the process which should be emphasized both on the back swing and down swing.

    You don't swing like your teaching? Your arms are basically straight when you hit the ball.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I 'want' my arms 'straight' when I hit the ball... all the suggestion in this video is about the 'backswing'... not the 'through swing'.. the depiction of the arms 'folding' on the backswing is an 'intention' more than a reality.. in 'thinking' of bending the arms on the backswing the arms 'soften' somewhat which gives more freedom in the arms in the 'backswing'..I would never want my arms 'bent' at impact ...and I make no reference to that with this swing..

      Hi JH ,tried the Fold and Hammer today whilst messing around on the range, couldn't believe the contact I was getting, took it straight to the course and just hammered the ball with ease, gained 20 yards on drive immediately, never hit the ball this pure before ,Thanks for this swing thought regards Paul Barnie ( 7 hcap)

    Sorry just not seeing the fold and hammer in your swing.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 'folding' is an 'intentional feel' ..rather than an 'actuality'.. simply applied Fold and Hammer is just trying to 'fold' the arms up as much as you can as 'feeling' and then just straightening the arms as much as you can on the downswing ... as you would do with an axe swing beside your body .

    hi
    i can do this swing if i have quite straight right leg no big hipturn but the the left knee swing the same.
    and qutie straight left arm with the face looking at the ball (harder with the driver)
    I also played like this 30 years ago but didnt umderstand why
    Now i know !
    Bye bye Moe Normans swing but thanks for the one plane swing
    JH swing is better, short cut for the one plane swing
    Thanks for a good show

      Hi John,
      Hey if I am absolutely honest the '3 Irons' of today are Sooooo Easy to hit compared to the old clubs I started playing with way back.... the sole weighting and the thin faces combined with the lightweight graphite shafts are really such an aid to improving the ease and quality of the ball strike, and frankly that's why I practice with the longer clubs so much because they are for me just as easy to hit as mid irons, its definitely the clubs John..not JH's ability..

    Firstly, love the videos. However, is this not a classic example of, "Feel" not being, "Real ?". You keep talking about the folding of the right arm, & you do it in your practice swings, but when you complete the shot, you don't.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John,
      Absolutely 'Feel Is Not Real' in the actual swing right now but the 'intention' being so high gets an acceptable result.... I will increase the bicep curl a lot more going forward and purge out my old 'extension' habit...but even down the road I will never achieve the absolute amount of practice fold of my trail arm that I get in the practice swing but it will be more than I have now which although is not that great gives a very good increased result of impact and ball flight.
      cheers JH

  • @dobuto23
    @dobuto23 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your feel and real are further off than anything I have ever seen. Those practice swings curling your bicep and lead arm bend absolutely do not happen in your real swing. If people want to swing like you they need to watch your real swing and ignore your pre swing feel because curling bicep forces you to bend lead arm massively, but in your real swing the left arm is close to dead straight. Just saying it is going to confuse many that do not understand that what someone feels may not have anything to do with what is really happening.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 'Look' of the swing I agree doesnt look much different to my normal backswing.. but.. the 'Feel'.. is significantly different.. and the ball flight resultant is significantly different.
