The technology they have out there is awesome! She is doing so well now especially graduating from 2 devices to 1! Keep smiling and vocalizing sweetie! See you in the next video! ❤🤗
Just wanted to say I have watched your channel for YEARSSS, was always interested in autism and people with special needs but never thought I’d go into that field, just happened to be offered a job as a special needs assistant in a special school and I started it with no experience, but I feel that I went into it a richer understanding of autism because of your videos :) Love my job
I have 2 full size iPads. One is from Christmas, 2016 and my newest one is my birthday present from last year. Each one has a protective case. Both have kickstands. but on my newer one it doubles as a handle.
Abigail is such a hilarious girl , i would have a blast hanging around her because she carries on a LOT id probably pass out from laughing so much due to her carrying on with her family 😂
I don't have autism (do have ptsd, anxiety, and adhd though) and I drive mom crazy with me never wanting the ceiling lights to be on. If there absolutely has to be light, I'd prefer a lamp in the corner rather than an overhead one in almost any situation. For those who don't understand, it's like this; with lamps and lower light sources, you can look away and adjust how much light is where you want it, much easier than a ceiling light that illuminates the whole room and just feeling oppressing... Idk, it just kinda feel like it's slapping my face and blinding me if it's too bright.
I know that’s annoying I used to have it on my iPad because I can’t communicate very well It’s too expensive for my family to afford and I use an app with a British Accent which is called Widget Go Basic and the basic version is free and only has 2 voices (1 is female and 1 is Male )
Too funny and awesome. This is Northern Californias Kaiser go to app for Slp right now. Currently my son and me are learning how to use this app. This is much each easier than any other app. And we as parents have the option to just pay the monthly start up fees to have a device from the get go. Your family always has the best videos on everything. And I really appreciate the journey you have shown us as some of us look up to you and always need helpful suggestions. The ipad video just helped me immensely on Amazon on what to buy. Thank you. Always watching and supporting.
Everything all in $200 is fantastic bargain. Abbie definitely loves her tablet to communicate etc and it lasting up to roughly 8 months great value and money well spent. Abbie giggling with the light switches was funny. Blessings.
Abigail! I hear her giggles after she plays with the lights😂 Just curious if you are familiar with Nikki, Caroline and Gabe from " For the love of Gabe"? Gabe is 14, autistic, nonverbal, and in a segregated classroom where he is not able to utilize his spelling to communicate. I think Nikki and Caroline could use some shared wisdom from you and Pricilla regarding ways to help Gabe in school. Your family is an inspiration and has a wealth of knowledge...it takes a village!
@doreenkrajewski9775 I just thought if they could connect, Asa and Priscilla could give Nikki and Caroline some guidance to things that could benefit Gabe, especially with his education. The thought of him being in a school and segregated when he so badly wants to be included in more, breaks my heart. Abby has thrived and is an amazing girl, a credit to the perseverance of her parents❤️
In Norway, many aids are covered by NAV aid loans, which then cover the price and reparation and then they provide a replacement aid. Aids can be everything from communication to lift chairs and lifts etc. In Norway you get a certain guarantee over a couple of years and professional installation and repair.
Abby is silly .my daughter just started using a communication device she has selected a mutism on top of adhd ocd sensory processing disorder and severe anxiety It helping her so mush I am lucky her school had resources for it
Thank you so much for this. I've been thinking about getting one for my guy. He does have some words but a lot of time people cant understand him. So I thought he might be able to use this. My only problem is he does not care for tablets or even cell phones. He is a desk top computer type and he that's all he wants to use lol. So I may be wasting some money but it will be worth the try.
I love her! Have you ever thought about getting her a newer iPad that has more abilities vis a vi updated software? The iPad four is so old that do you ever worry it will one day not support her communication app?
The newer iPads don't have a home button so she would have to learn an entirely new way to navigate. I'm not too concerned though. The app requires iOS 11 or newer and currently the iPad Mini 4 can update to iOS 15.
My daughter attempted to use a device called a WOLFF. It was difficult to set up and she could sense her teacher's frustration and she would wait till it was set on her tray or on a table and she would throw it on the floor. Communication devices just never worked for her. Will you play 20 questions a lot.
why would she need any communication device? why wouldnt she simply write by hand or on screen to express herself? or use sign language? in that case you would have to learn it too which could be frustrating. both have their advantages and disadvantages but both are more expressive and descriptive than communication devices.
Cognitively my daughter is 9 to 18 months inside a 41 year old body. She can't write or speak or sign...she can't even toilet herself. Technology has come a long way...and she missed it.
Communication devices can be really hard to use out of the box for people with severe autism because they don't have enough control over their bodies to hit the items they want to hit and they tend to get into motor loops hitting random items. Have you considered trying Abbie with S2C? It helps people with severe autism to develop the motor patterns they need to communicate what they want to communicate.
@@fatheringautism i believe it. this is what canadians have to deal with at Amazon, specifically Quebec, where we have 2 taxes and now a carbon tax is recently added.
My question about Abbie's communication app is has it always been supported as in with any updates the app may have? My son Alexander has had multiple communication apps through his school that the SLP has stopped using with him then we are back at the beginning teach all over how to use a new communication app. He has had Go Talk 20+ ,Speak All, Alexicom, and now its Go Talk Now Lite which installed on his school IPad and personal IPad at home if someone can guide with putting more pictures on my sons IPad at home I have looked online and have not found any videos that really explain it. When Alexander started the App his SLP left which in turn left him without Speech this where I advocated for him said he needs an SLP which states in his IEP it took me reaching out the Executive Director of Special Services to get this taken care of . Thank you for sharing.
Yes, Abbie has had this app for several years and the company regularly updates the app. TD Snap is an app by Toby Dynavox which us a big company in the AAC world.
We already has this app set on my son's aac device but the device is too heavy (from insurance), we want to buy an ipad, so can we transfer the app from current device to an ipad or we have to purchase the app again?
Question: what will happen once you are no longer around to maintain Abby’s communication devices? Will an adult caregiver do it for her? What if they are not as capable? I often wonder about the future in many aspects of Abby’s life
I think Abbie is hilarious, she knows exactly which buttons to press every time😇
Love when Abby shows her sense of humor when she teases you with the lights!🤣😂🤣
i no right abby says no lights for you lol got to work in the dark but i think i found a fix
The technology they have out there is awesome! She is doing so well now especially graduating from 2 devices to 1! Keep smiling and vocalizing sweetie! See you in the next video! ❤🤗

WoW that makes a lot of sense. I have a problem where bright light hurts my eyes. Think I’ll invest in more lamps. Glad you pointed that out.
She's funny 😂😂. Love the giggles with the light switches
I do believe TD snap is now a subscription instead of a one time purchase.

This helps so so so much we took notes and were set now for our girl. Thank You so much for sharing with details which we needed!
For anyone that doesn't know this but this case helped a whole bunch when it had been thrown out a car window.
There’s going to be a launch from Florida in less than a hour if you want to check it out! I saw the one in CA last night and it was really cool 🚀 😊
😂 my google assistant on my phone reacted to the hey google phrase in the vlog.
I love how Abbby’s sense of humour. She thinks she’s funny by turning the lights off that’s hilarious 😂
I have showed this to my neighbour he has a nonverbal autistic son. He's going to see if can use in uk so ty

How old was Abbie when she started using a communication device? My son is nonverbal, and he is almost 7. He will turn 7 in June.
canadian amazon has the cases. $95. 3 left in stock.
$95 for the case?! I paid $20 for those cases

Yup $95
Sorry Asa, but I was laughing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have an older iPad mini, I don't use it, wish I knew somewhere To send it so it can be used for someone like Abby.

Hi Roz 👋 👋 👋
There are no "side effects" of prescription drugs. The negative effects are in the category "tolerated effects."
What is her name ❤😊she so beautiful 🤩

Just wondering if Abby picked out the voice on her device?
No I believe whatever voice is already on there
There's a list of available voices. We picked one that might fit her best. It's funny how much thought we put into that part of the setup lol
Question: what will happen once you are no longer around to maintain Abby’s communication devices? Will an adult caregiver do it for her? What if they are not as capable? I often wonder about the future in many aspects of Abby’s life
Isaiah will be in charge of her care when we are dead and gone.
You're talking too much just show the tablet.
😂hi

Yes she’s still around they typically do respite on Tuesdays or Thursdays I think
Hi I used to have an iPad and I used it for aac called Avaz
She is around more but we don’t see her because it’s normal after they are done recording when Summer comes over
