After watching a season of Jessica Jones, I realize I have a superpower like one of the characters: I can sense evildoers. It's not pleasent feeling, and not very accurate, but many times I have felt a very specific sensation, and not long after, I see someone be mean to someone else... I dont really want this superpower, it can hurt so much, I get overwhelmed from the discomfort and have an autistic meltdown. But I pay more attention to that feeling now, so I can put my mind in a place to be prepared for the situation about to happen.

Apple sucks because too expensive, and they don't fix stuff when it can be fixed, just want you to buy a new one. There are people who CAN and DO fix Apple junk, retrieve lost data, even get stuff off phones that have been in water, but Apple doesn't want them to. One guy went hiking and never came home. They found his phone, police couldn't figure it out, apple couldn't either, but these independent repair people could retrieve data. So now his family can try to figure things out, see last images, video etc.

I came to this video to find few apps for autistic people. And I download one of them, speech blubs, which has mostly negative reviews, due to the fact that to use it you HAVE to start subscription after 7 days. Many other negative reviews states that it's hard to use, low quality videos with kids repeating the same word, no interaction etc. Asking for money from the start (the subscription just postpones for 7 days) is a no go for me and I didn't see anything about these negative things on this video. This is not how you suggest apps, you have to include negative things as well.

It usually coincides with sensory overload or some other form of intense distress where it would be useful to communicate. I am really like this video I am both blind and autistic and when you mentioned voice to text technology that made me think well I’m using that all the time so I’m happy somebody mentioned it in a video because when I have to type things are use dictation because finding the letters with voiceover is really difficult and then you have to double tap the letters and then it’s much easier to use dictation then you won’t have that problem so much also if I need to send an SMS to somebody I use Siri all so I prefer male voices because when I was little I once had a nightmare with a female voice and ever since then I’ve been a little bit wary of female voices

  • @tohrurikku

I normally have a hard time trying to talk to someone in public and with the addition of wearing a mask it is a nightmare. I have started to bring a pad of paper and a pen with me everywhere. Yet, when I go to grab them to get my message across I would be missing the pen or the paper is damp because it was raining and I can not write on it. Once I can afford a smartphone I am definitely getting the Big app so I will be able to communicate with people in a easier way.
I would love an app that does the opposite of the last app. Trying to talk to a telemarketer over the phone leaves me having a panic attack and I have discovered that if I use a text to speech site to answer the important questions it helped me stay calmer. But if I had it all set up beforehand on my old tablet and the moment I would press play when needed there was a big chance it would all disappear, or they ask me to repeat certain things and the site does not allow it, and I am left on the phone panicking while trying to get it all set up again with an impatient telemarketer wanting me to answer questions I can not physically say and I end up having a panic attack and one of us hangs up. (I must say, for a company that claims they support those with mental illness they sure do not train their staff how to deal with those who have any or how to talk to those who have speech disabilities.) I have looked into getting one of those phones that talks for you but it is over $500 and I can not afford it and it would be cheaper to get a new tablet and download an app. Does anyone know what the best text to speech app is?

Thanx. Reminded me of one day my son was having quite pessimistic thoughts about his reading performance and future outlook, and I tried a (stupid, yet well meant) motivational "you can do anything". This comment is two and a half years late, but (wait, more than 2 and a half years, but never mind)....I see a lot of apps available for non-verbal people and that's awesome. AND of course there's still TIIMO. But I'm looking for an app for everyday stuff...but for adults. I don't want a blue elephant reminding me to brush my teeth, but I could use a prompt. I don't want power puff girls telling me to brush my hair, but just maybe a record keeping app to list what was or wasn't done that day, what aspects of autism/aspergers may cause those things to be overlooked/resisted, and helpful tips to improve day to day functioning.

Wow! I'm so shocked! I recognize this Proloquo2Go as I'm the one who invented it for free under the open source project name "Visual Lingo" for international cross language communications method for travelers with a handy notepad. However, I see someone stole my idea and monetized it while adding a very small amount to the basic structure. Kind of funny as I can't believe they are charging so much for something I was basicly giving away for free at the time. Kind of neat as an LD person like myself created it and never considered applying it to the autistic community. I found many places in the world that no one could speak English and found drawing a message was simpler than trying to learn so many languages. The least they can do is put me in the credits as the original inventor.

vitotheo the in app purchase is just gateway, the app works great. Twice a year it goes down in price, for AAC awareness month and for Autism awareness month.

Just got my ASD diagnosis. My whole life I have just been spinning in circles, getting dizzy, and then doing it again. Now, I'm scared if I use tools that I will be a cyborg because half of my brain needs some type of adaptation tool or technique, if that makes sense? Most of my life I've been being the wrong me. I dont want to do it wrong anymore. Help..?..?
