Hi! I recently decided to get back into the frugivore diet and I was restricting. I thought about you and hadn't watched you in years so I looked you up and noticed you uploaded a new video just 10 minutes ago! I was shocked you thought she was restricting so much! After seeing the moment in the video in which you discuss eating at least 700-1000 calories and showing old footage of you eating fruit with information that it took 3 years for your body to adjust and stabilize it's weight due to your restrictions, I got up to eat more bananas lol.
I spent YEARS measuring out ingredients and guess what happened? I didn't lose weight. Focusing on fruits and veggies for the majority of my meals has absolutely changed my life. I cringe thinking about the hours I spent obsessing. It makes me so sad.
50/50 plate works. But you must go back for seconds In order to get enough calories. I never have felt deprived doing 50/50. Im now just following a plant based diet and eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full. No counting anything.
I met Hannah and Derek at a vegan festival a few years back. They were in the process of building their house and wanted some help with the sound system. My husband and I are both heavily involved in the audio and home automation world so we started talking to Derek about the plans for the house. After a long Zoom meeting reviewing their entire floorplan and architecture, we designed everything for them and provided a list of gear that they would need so they could source it all for as cheapnas possible. All this work was done for free, mind you. Then Derek pulled one of those, "I can feature you on my TH-cam channel if you come here and run the cable, install the equipment, and give me as much stuff as possible for free." Fuck that noise! I lost all interest in both of their TH-cam channels from that point on.

Always ask for 1/2 the deposit before doing the work, and get the rest paid in increments. If they don’t pay, right away, walk away. Been in business for a long time, and there are always ppl like this trying to haggle. U can’t feed your family being in a video.
Hannah used to be one of my favorite people to watch, but now it’s all about this weight loss program. She doesn’t eat as much variety of whole foods like she used to. I remember she said, a few years ago, she feels so good eating lots of raw fruits and veggies with rice and potatoes. I don’t understand what happened?
I agree with you about "High Carb Hannah" but Plantiful Kiki shares that she is a volume eater, and will eat extra helpings of starches (potatoes &rice) to feel full and to eat more carbs. What is disappointing about Plentiful Kiki is during an interview with Chef AJ she stated she is "plant based" but not vegan, she wears leather and down coats since she lives in Colorado & it is cold. Well, I live in Colorado and have plenty of warm, down alternative coats & synthetic boots and shoes.
Freelee, over the past 3 days I would estimate I've watched around 30 of your videos on this channel, that's about 15 hours of watching you!! I have been following you since 2014 but only just started watching you again. I purchased your My Naked Lunchbox book and am halfway through. It's incredible! I have been vegan since 2014 but definitely not been eating enough fruit, since I've been watching you my fruit intake has gone up dramatically and my energy levels have massively improved. You are inside out one of the most switched on individuals I've ever come across, and I am so grateful that you dedicate your life to helping and educating others. You deserve a bigger audience. You will never know how much I truly appreciate you!
Her audience isn’t bigger because she is unapologetically herself. While I agree she deserves more, it’s one of the things that really shows her sincerity. Her morals and views have not changed while so many old “vegan” you tubers has. Seems super genuine to me it’s so refreshing! She’s a badass💪🏼🍌
I am on my 3rd year of raw till 4 and fruits are so beneficial on health ! I didn't eat enough last week because of moving out, working full time and stressing too much and I am sick from Monday. Just a little cold, so I went straight back to enough oranges to start the day (at least 10) and plenty of fresh yellow fruits packed with vit C and of course, bananas every day, and I already feel better today. Life is in abundance and fruits. Not starvation and restrictions. I love watching your videos and so glad to have you in my life because it helps me to understand so much about our body, so thank you for being there and teaching us so well. And most of all, for the love of animals 🐷🐏🐮
Speaking of her 1 potato, I’ve been eating raw til 4 for the past month (love it!😍) and made a big raw salad for dinner with one sweet potato. I thought it was enough calories but apparently not as I was snacking on my husband’s pretzels afterwards. Next time I’ll put a couple taters in my salad😉
I'll always have a huge soft spot for Hannah because she is one of the main people who inspired me to go vegan, but it does seem her message has changed, she used to promote not worrying about calories and eating til you're full period, up until this new meal plan came out which is really interesting to me, plus she hasn't explained why she's changed her thought on that. I'd love to see your thoughts on Caroline Deisler's meal plans, that girl seems to have it down!
I don't know about Caroline. She promotes fasting for hours. Basically not eating. I do think she restricts. Maybe not intentionally but I truly don't think she eats Enough calories. She just looks good and says the right things
This one potato meal coming from the girl who was all about the potato diet 🙄. She never explains why she changes anything, she goes from one side of things to the other without any explanation and leaving everyone in the dark, I got tired of it and unfollowed her like 4-5 years ago.
She explained it because she hadn't lost the last 20 lbs and lost it and gained it back, so she started doing the 50/50 plate and focused on calorie density to keep it off.
High carb Hannah, plantiful kiki and Chelsea Mae Cullins all used to collaborate on this starch solution weight loss crap. Which is mainly potatoes And veggies only, fruit is not really inclused.. Then for some reason they dumped Chelsea Mae Cullins and the two of them just work together. They Are all about calorie density apparently. Also, she seems to be using a lot more plastic crap lately.
I kind of feel sorry for Hannah because she always seems to be struggling with body image and accompanying calorie restriction from time to time. It's a shame because apart from that I find her a very inspiring TH-camr who has turned many people into a more plantbased diet.
I always enjoyed watching high carb hannah, but the more I got into starch solution the more I realized that she does not promote starch solution at all anymore and most people in the starch solution community do not encourage following her.
Last night I had half a box of pasta and two large sweet potatoes. I did NOT think I could do it halfway through the potatoes but I did. And I woke up today with so much energy and felt awesome, not dragging my feet behind me. I am so happy now thank you!
I think the mangoes would have been the best option "for maximum weight loss" rather than that cooked apple receipe... Even more as a breakfast option. No need to mesure anything or cook anything with fruits... Just the mangoes!! But she probably decided to make that apple thing for the views as it was fall and it is a fall themed dish as she mentionned... I guess her audiance like that kinda mainstream/ on trend stuff.

Hi Freelee! I hope you get a chance to read my comment. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been 1 month without coffee/tea/energy drinks of any kind. I had asked you a few times to make a video on the effects of caffeine since you said you were going to. Anyways I’m really proud of myself for getting “off the drugs” as you say but really, coffee is a psychoactive stimulant and that makes it a drug. I just knew I needed to stop drinking it for my own healthy really. You have helped me realize that more and more with your education. Also, I’ve been watching more and more raw vegan channels and all these fruitarians are coming out of the woodwork! Have you heard of Gillian Berry? She’s been raw for 6 years and she has amazing guest on her channel that have been eating a raw predominately fruit based diet for years and are thriving and they are eating lots of calories, so no restriction whatsoever. It helps solidify more and more of what you preach and for me personally, I need that confirmation from multiple sources to really know that it works. I’m not personally ready to go 100% raw all the time but all the sighs are pointing my way to go raw till 4 and cut the BS out. I’ve been vegan for 10 years but my weight has fluctuated and that’s from bad lifestyle choices. Anyways, I’m going to keep watching and listening and next time I comment I’ll have even better news to share. Take care

1500 cal is enough for a toddler. Your body at 60 is still much larger than a toddler and needs a lot more energy to sustain your size. It is absolutely not enough.
I’m a 9 year vegan transitioning to high raw and your videos are so encouraging! I’m eating fruit for the majority of my intake and I feel better already. I really appreciate your focus on making sure we are eating enough calories, because when I calculated it, I wasn’t eating enough calories. I work out moderately for 1/2 to an hour daily and wasn’t really taking that into account since I’m just average weight. Fruit has really switched me more to an abundance mindset in many facets of life!! Vegan for the animals and fruit based for my health❤️🙌🏼

ever since getting on a high carb vegan diet/lifestyle, I got my hunger back! my body was so used to restricting that I didn't even feel hungry anymore. now eat loads and loads of food and am happier than ever. thank you freelee!
Fruit and raw foods for the win always! I used to make these type of meals in the past on a cooked vegan diet, no wonder i was always bloated and had terrible digestion
I also want to add that when I eat the most fruit a day like for a few days I'm talking the equivalent of 30 bananas a day my nails are super hard! I'm a female 5'6" 😍 And my mood is the best I've ever experienced in my life. No kidding I'm about to be 31 years old. I just have to practice a bit more on how to have enough bananas around because I have to share a fridge and have to share my bananas and sometimes it's hard to know how many bananas my family is going to eat. Also I have had to hide my bananas so I don't hear my family saying I brought too many but then complain about needing more bananas 🤣 when they run out because I didn't bring extra because they said not to.
Her recent videos (last year or two) are often protein focused and low calorie. I can’t do it. I’m glad what they’re doing is working for them. The fruit averse content isn’t helpful for *me* personally.
I know you're always saying most people don't eat enough, but I don't think we should purposely stuff our faces until we're sick. If you're full, you're full. Some people don't want to eat huge amounts of food. It's not always about weight loss
... when did i say to "stuff your face till you are sick" ??! feelings of fullness are subjective and can depend on many factors like poor food-combining, dehydration, digestive dis-ease or just not being used to consuming the correct volume to thrive (due to a past of restriction). if as an adult your daily calories come out to that of a childs requirements (yes 1500 is) then in order to keep healthfully existing you just need to eat more regardless of whether you "feel full" psychologically or not. otherwise you risk all sorts of deficiencies, lethargy, mental health challenges and more.

Dear Freelee, could u make a vid discussing probiotics? I have read that probiotics aren’t always necessary if u eat fruits in large quantities bc fruits contain a lot of prebiotic fiber. But I’m still curious to learn more about this & bc u are so informative regarding so many aspects of vegan & plant based diet affects on the human body. I would love to learn more about probiotic products & if they r really necessary esp bc probiotics have become more of a fad. Thank u for all ur information!! It inspires me so much!

Hi Freelee, I tried hannah, Kiki and chef AJ way of eating but could not lose weight. Then I started developing joint pains and starting eating raw because of that. I've never felt better! I am know promoting raw food on my instagram. I havent lost a lot of weight just yet (about 3 kilo's in the first weeks and then is stopped) but I feel so good I honestly don't care. Well, I care a little, but bot enough to ever go back to veggies and 50/50 plates. Thank you so much for your video's and your books, I have de naked lunchbox and really love it. I was wondering If you know Eli from the Free Melon society. He is a fruitariar, I believe over 5 years now but he is also really into fasting. I think he some times eats just one meal a day and he is still very active. Sometimes this does confuse me. I love the ubandance you promote but sometimes I do ask myself if its really not oke to limit calories because it seems it does have some benefits?? I am nog talking about restriction for weightloss But about health.

I agree mostly on measuring serving sizes and measuring and all that! However, I like the idea of single servings on occasion because it’s just me and the hubs and we eat so differently. So I cook stuff for just me a lot. If I don’t want leftovers, I pick a container of the size of food I know I want to eat and just use that container or bowl as a guide for amounts without actually measuring. I make a single serving for just myself.
I doubt she would try RT4 again. She trashed the diet in one of her earlier videos, claiming it made her obese. Derek was also in that video showing his surprise, and concluding although it worked for him, it doesn't mean it works for everyone. I highly doubt that she followed a high fruit diet.
I don't think she looks well or vibrant and calorie restriction probably is a part of that.. when you aren't carbed up you just don't have the high vibe and energy levels you would have on unrestricted carbohydrates

A natural trick for removing skin after it was cooked. Is to put it in ice water. The highest water stops the cooking process and helps to release the skin.
I never really liked green juice in large quantities. I'll maybe have a glass of it but drinking a lot of it makes my stomach hurt. Whole fruit is much better.
How much calories would you recommend for someone recovering from anorexia on a raw vegan diet? I'm 5'1 (157 cm) so I've always been told I don't need more than 1500 cals, is that true? i'm 4'11, also recovering, and i eat anywhere from 2000-2400 on raw til 4 :) 1500 is not enough unless you are *completely* sedentary and even then it's not good for you
Hannah doesn’t follow starch solution correctly, true SS eaters are told to eat more starch and not go hungry. 50/50 is for maximum weightloss so if they aren’t eating enough they aren’t going to have the proper results. Especially if they aren’t 100% on the lifestyle. KiKi is much closer to starch solution because she also says to eat more if you are still hungry. And to not be hungry. Until comfortably full. You wanna make sure you’re eating enough of the right stuff, no oil no flours and such to become healthy slim and trim. Also, Dr McDougall does not suggest juices, the lifestyle is to eat our food not drink it. So Hannah is a poor example of Starch Solution.
Yo yo. Nice lady but over last 10 years it's been one trend or gimmick after the other. This recent weight loss will most likely reverse itself in not too distant future unfortunately.
Have you ever done a video or watched any clips of "The Snake Diet" guy? He starts off most of his videos saying "Hey Fatty". Not only does he drink his own urine, but he trash talks vegans. His major tips on weight loss are starving yourself an high protein. He is quite the character and definitely has it all wrong. Obviously people are going to lose weight if they are starving themselves but at what risk and it will never last unless they starve themselves for the rest of their lives.
ADVICE? 😥 Freelee I recently took a 3 month break from FB IG and TikTok. I'm going to log in sometime soon. HOWEVER I would like your advice if possible. I was overwhelmed with people wanting to fast and do juice fasts and I always told them I don't believe that because it ruins your metabolism and because you always say that's the worst thing to do because our weight just rebounds and our moods tank but I would like to respond with more confidence. Is their anything you could tell me to say to people when friends or strangers try to convince me that fasting or juice fasting or one meal a day is what I should be doing! I guess I could tell them I already tried a version of fasting and I started to lose my hair and nails. HOWEVER IF THEY keep on trying to pressure me I'm just going to have to block them 😔
Just do what works for you :) if one meal a day doesn't work just say "oh I tried that and it didn't work for me" or something. Most people fast every single day for at least 8 hours! ie when they are asleep :D so fasting for a bit longer each day doesn't really damage your metabolism unless you take it to _extremes_ but even then I've seen a lot of videos now where people do long term fasting, lose heaps of weight, and keep the weight off after - so I think it just depends on how your own body works. What works for one person won't always work for another. For example some people lose weight by eating many small meals a day, but when I did that I gained weight so fast and felt sick all the time D: I can only comfortably have two meals, usually around 4pm and 6pm. Cutting a meal is easy, but adding meals makes me feel sick - it's been like that since I was young! So yeah I honestly think it just comes down to whatever works for you, just be careful of people who make blanket statements and apply their personal diet experience to every other person alive - one person's diet experience will not work for everyone!! ie a young muscular male marathon runner will need a very different diet than a 40 year old housewife with four kids who doesn't get much exercise. You have to find what works for you :)
I would really like a video that explains why a Vegan, especially raw, is able to eat far more calories & volume than someone on the SAD diet, Keto etc. Volume is easily explained because of water content but most people don’t understand that not all calories are the same. Fiber contains calories that our bodies cannot absorb therefore they pass right through us. Corn is an example most can relate to. Looks the same on the way out as it did on the way in lol. 😂 also seeds unless crushed do the same thing. This is a topic that almost no one knows about or considers.

I kind of feel sorry for Hannah because she always seems to be struggling with body image and accompanying calorie restriction from time to time. It's a shame because apart from that I find her a very inspiring TH-camr who has turned many people into a more plantbased diet.
I always enjoyed watching high carb hannah, but the more I got into starch solution the more I realized that she does not promote starch solution at all anymore and most people in the starch solution community do not encourage following her.
Last night I had half a box of pasta and two large sweet potatoes. I did NOT think I could do it halfway through the potatoes but I did. And I woke up today with so much energy and felt awesome, not dragging my feet behind me. I am so happy now thank you!
I think the mangoes would have been the best option "for maximum weight loss" rather than that cooked apple receipe... Even more as a breakfast option. No need to mesure anything or cook anything with fruits... Just the mangoes!! But she probably decided to make that apple thing for the views as it was fall and it is a fall themed dish as she mentionned... I guess her audiance like that kinda mainstream/ on trend stuff.

Hi Freelee! I hope you get a chance to read my comment. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been 1 month without coffee/tea/energy drinks of any kind. I had asked you a few times to make a video on the effects of caffeine since you said you were going to. Anyways I’m really proud of myself for getting “off the drugs” as you say but really, coffee is a psychoactive stimulant and that makes it a drug. I just knew I needed to stop drinking it for my own healthy really. You have helped me realize that more and more with your education. Also, I’ve been watching more and more raw vegan channels and all these fruitarians are coming out of the woodwork! Have you heard of Gillian Berry? She’s been raw for 6 years and she has amazing guest on her channel that have been eating a raw predominately fruit based diet for years and are thriving and they are eating lots of calories, so no restriction whatsoever. It helps solidify more and more of what you preach and for me personally, I need that confirmation from multiple sources to really know that it works. I’m not personally ready to go 100% raw all the time but all the sighs are pointing my way to go raw till 4 and cut the BS out. I’ve been vegan for 10 years but my weight has fluctuated and that’s from bad lifestyle choices. Anyways, I’m going to keep watching and listening and next time I comment I’ll have even better news to share. Take care

A slower metabolism is better. You age & die slower that way.
1500 cal is enough for a toddler. Your body at 60 is still much larger than a toddler and needs a lot more energy to sustain your size. It is absolutely not enough.

I really appreciate your focus on making sure we are eating enough calories, because when I calculated it, I wasn’t eating enough calories. I work out moderately for 1/2 to an hour daily and wasn’t really taking that into account since I’m just average weight.
Fruit has really switched me more to an abundance mindset in many facets of life!!

Fruit and raw foods for the win always! I used to make these type of meals in the past on a cooked vegan diet, no wonder i was always bloated and had terrible digestion
I also want to add that when I eat the most fruit a day like for a few days I'm talking the equivalent of 30 bananas a day my nails are super hard! I'm a female 5'6" 😍 And my mood is the best I've ever experienced in my life. No kidding I'm about to be 31 years old.
I just have to practice a bit more on how to have enough bananas around because I have to share a fridge and have to share my bananas and sometimes it's hard to know how many bananas my family is going to eat.
Also I have had to hide my bananas so I don't hear my family saying I brought too many but then complain about needing more bananas 🤣 when they run out because I didn't bring extra because they said not to.
Her recent videos (last year or two) are often protein focused and low calorie. I can’t do it. I’m glad what they’re doing is working for them. The fruit averse content isn’t helpful for *me* personally.
I know you're always saying most people don't eat enough, but I don't think we should purposely stuff our faces until we're sick. If you're full, you're full. Some people don't want to eat huge amounts of food. It's not always about weight loss
... when did i say to "stuff your face till you are sick" ??! feelings of fullness are subjective and can depend on many factors like poor food-combining, dehydration, digestive dis-ease or just not being used to consuming the correct volume to thrive (due to a past of restriction). if as an adult your daily calories come out to that of a childs requirements (yes 1500 is) then in order to keep healthfully existing you just need to eat more regardless of whether you "feel full" psychologically or not. otherwise you risk all sorts of deficiencies, lethargy, mental health challenges and more.

Dear Freelee, could u make a vid discussing probiotics? I have read that probiotics aren’t always necessary if u eat fruits in large quantities bc fruits contain a lot of prebiotic fiber. But I’m still curious to learn more about this & bc u are so informative regarding so many aspects of vegan & plant based diet affects on the human body. Hi Freelee, I tried hannah, Kiki and chef AJ way of eating but could not lose weight. Then I started developing joint pains and starting eating raw because of that. I've never felt better! I am know promoting raw food on my instagram. I havent lost a lot of weight just yet (about 3 kilo's in the first weeks and then is stopped) but I feel so good I honestly don't care. Well, I care a little, but bot enough to ever go back to veggies and 50/50 plates. Thank you so much for your video's and your books, I have de naked lunchbox and really love it.
I was wondering If you know Eli from the Free Melon society. He is a fruitariar, I believe over 5 years now but he is also really into fasting. I think he some times eats just one meal a day and he is still very active. Sometimes this does confuse me. I love the ubandance you promote but sometimes I do ask myself if its really not oke to limit calories because it seems it does have some benefits?? I agree mostly on measuring serving sizes and measuring and all that! However, I like the idea of single servings on occasion because it’s just me and the hubs and we eat so differently. So I cook stuff for just me a lot. If I don’t want leftovers, I pick a container of the size of food I know I want to eat and just use that container or bowl as a guide for amounts without actually measuring. I make a single serving for just myself.

I doubt she would try RT4 again. She trashed the diet in one of her earlier videos, claiming it made her obese. Derek was also in that video showing his surprise, and concluding although it worked for him, it doesn't mean it works for everyone. I highly doubt that she followed a high fruit diet.

A natural trick for removing skin after it was cooked. Is to put it in ice water. The highest water stops the cooking process and helps to release the skin.

I never really liked green juice in large quantities. I'll maybe have a glass of it but drinking a lot of it makes my stomach hurt. Whole fruit is much better.

i'm 4'11, also recovering, and i eat anywhere from 2000-2400 on raw til 4 :) 1500 is not enough unless you are *completely* sedentary and even then it's not good for you

Hannah doesn’t follow starch solution correctly, true SS eaters are told to eat more starch and not go hungry. 50/50 is for maximum weightloss so if they aren’t eating enough they aren’t going to have the proper results. Especially if they aren’t 100% on the lifestyle. KiKi is much closer to starch solution because she also says to eat more if you are still hungry. And to not be hungry. Until comfortably full. You wanna make sure you’re eating enough of the right stuff, no oil no flours and such to become healthy slim and trim. Also, Dr McDougall does not suggest juices, the lifestyle is to eat our food not drink it. So Hannah is a poor example of Starch Solution.

Have you ever done a video or watched any clips of "The Snake Diet" guy? He starts off most of his videos saying "Hey Fatty". Not only does he drink his own urine, but he trash talks vegans. His major tips on weight loss are starving yourself an high protein. He is quite the character and definitely has it all wrong. Obviously people are going to lose weight if they are starving themselves but at what risk and it will never last unless they starve themselves for the rest of their lives.

Freelee I recently took a 3 month break from FB IG and TikTok. I'm going to log in sometime soon. HOWEVER I would like your advice if possible. I was overwhelmed with people wanting to fast and do juice fasts and I always told them I don't believe that because it ruins your metabolism and because you always say that's the worst thing to do because our weight just rebounds and our moods tank but I would like to respond with more confidence. Is their anything you could tell me to say to people when friends or strangers try to convince me that fasting or juice fasting or one meal a day is what I should be doing!
I guess I could tell them I already tried a version of fasting and I started to lose my hair and nails.
HOWEVER IF THEY keep on trying to pressure me I'm just going to have to block them 😔
Just do what works for you :) if one meal a day doesn't work just say "oh I tried that and it didn't work for me" or something.
Most people fast every single day for at least 8 hours! ie when they are asleep :D so fasting for a bit longer each day doesn't really damage your metabolism unless you take it to _extremes_ but even then I've seen a lot of videos now where people do long term fasting, lose heaps of weight, and keep the weight off after - so I think it just depends on how your own body works.
What works for one person won't always work for another. For example some people lose weight by eating many small meals a day, but when I did that I gained weight so fast and felt sick all the time D: I can only comfortably have two meals, usually around 4pm and 6pm. Cutting a meal is easy, but adding meals makes me feel sick - it's been like that since I was young!
So yeah I honestly think it just comes down to whatever works for you, just be careful of people who make blanket statements and apply their personal diet experience to every other person alive - one person's diet experience will not work for everyone!! ie a young muscular male marathon runner will need a very different diet than a 40 year old housewife with four kids who doesn't get much exercise.
You have to find what works for you :)

I would really like a video that explains why a Vegan, especially raw, is able to eat far more calories & volume than someone on the SAD diet, Keto etc. Volume is easily explained because of water content but most people don’t understand that not all calories are the same. Fiber contains calories that our bodies cannot absorb therefore they pass right through us. Corn is an example most can relate to. Looks the same on the way out as it did on the way in lol. 😂 also seeds unless crushed do the same thing. This is a topic that almost no one knows about or considers.
