    🔹 Scotch Game/Gambit for White - • The Best Chess Opening...
    ♛ Find the Scotch Game variations for Black shown in the video in this blog-post - chess-teacher.com/scotch-game...
    In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shows how to counter the Scotch Game, one of the most common and aggressive chess openings for White. It arises after the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4, and Black is almost forced to take the pawn with 3...exd4.
    At this moment, White has a few interesting options:
    1) 4.Ng5 - a dubious but very dangerous attacking option for White
    2) 4.Nxd4 - the simple Lolli Variation, leading to the classical Scotch Game
    3) 4.Bc4 - the Scotch Gambit, where White aims for quick development and a powerful attack against the Black king
    If you are not familiar with these variations as Black, it is very easy to falter within the next few moves. That’s why GM Smirnov shares the best and easiest way to counter all these variations.
    And the best part? You will cut down on a lot of opening theory by learning a single variation that can be played against all these lines. The London Defense variation, which occurs after 4...Bb4+ in the Scotch Gambit, forces White to react to the check, thus limiting their choices.
    You will also learn the common opening mistakes to avoid, middlegame plans, typical attacking ideas, and some deadly traps.

    4.Bc4 Bb4+ 5.c3 dxc3 6.O-O gambiting two pawns for an enormous lead in development.
    Also 6.bxc3 Ba5 7.O-O Bb6 8.Ba3 Nge7 9.e5 O-O 10.Re1 gives White strong pressure.

    The key for white in the Scotch Game is to develop the bishop to d3, not c4. That keeps the bishop off the 4th rank where the Qh4 tactic works, and it provides a defender for the pawn on e4. The sequence is 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Bb4+ 5.c3 Bc5 6.Be3 Bb6 7.Bd3. If black does play Qh4, then white can comfortably castle, and after Nf6, white plays h3, keeping the knight from coming forward, although white has other even better options.

    I play the Scotch Potter, and when I faced this once, I played c3, Nb3 attacking the B, Bb6 which has a 38%W/57%L for White, -0.2 eval. Thanks for pointing out the holes in my game, I'll be ready next time.

    Igor, what do you do when the opponent kicks your bishop a second time. Like when they kick twice in a row once on c3 and then again on b4? The opponent can then make a third pawn move in a row with h4, trapping the bishop.

    The main threat in scotch gambit is queen to d5 lining with bishop and white knight coming to fried liver attack, although it's great to know black knight covering queen is one panacea to queen coming to d5 ......Scotch gambit remains a big Mistry after all these years as it offshoots so many variations of attack which is even unknown today and black is sometimes clueless.

  • @bt82
    @bt82 หลายเดือนก่อน

    4:14 instead of white retaking on c3, what if they just castle? Black then takes another pawn on b2 and white takes back with the bishop. This is the line I’ve been looking at for the scotch gambit.
