🔹 Scotch Game/Gambit for White - • The Best Chess Opening...
♛ Find the Scotch Game variations for Black shown in the video in this blog-post - chess-teacher.com/scotch-game...
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shows how to counter the Scotch Game, one of the most common and aggressive chess openings for White. It arises after the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4, and Black is almost forced to take the pawn with 3...exd4.
At this moment, White has a few interesting options:
1) 4.Ng5 - a dubious but very dangerous attacking option for White
2) 4.Nxd4 - the simple Lolli Variation, leading to the classical Scotch Game
3) 4.Bc4 - the Scotch Gambit, where White aims for quick development and a powerful attack against the Black king
If you are not familiar with these variations as Black, it is very easy to falter within the next few moves. That’s why GM Smirnov shares the best and easiest way to counter all these variations.
And the best part? You will cut down on a lot of opening theory by learning a single variation that can be played against all these lines. The London Defense variation, which occurs after 4...Bb4+ in the Scotch Gambit, forces White to react to the check, thus limiting their choices.
You will also learn the common opening mistakes to avoid, middlegame plans, typical attacking ideas, and some deadly traps.

Top 1% is the most dangerous type of people.☝🏻🤓
Bro pls do lion's opening😊😊
As someone who always plays the Scotch, the second i got the notification for this video i knew my elo is about to be in shambles
I was like "No delete this" 😅
Same here😂
Scotch Gambit is one of my favorite openings as white. This video from black's side helped a lot. Thanks!
The scotch opening, mouse slip variation
Love your work Igor, please make a course on the Benoni
4.Bc4 Bb4+ 5.c3 dxc3 6.O-O gambiting two pawns for an enormous lead in development.
Also 6.bxc3 Ba5 7.O-O Bb6 8.Ba3 Nge7 9.e5 O-O 10.Re1 gives White strong pressure.
All I have to say is thank you for this video. Super informative, I took GM advice and reach similar positions because of it. This should help me play much better over all outside of these two examples.
you are a gem to me .i learn a lot bro
thank you, Igor!
Excellent video for us , thanks sir🎉❤
❤ Thanks!
Only problem I've got here is that he keeps saying your opponent doesn't know but my opponents are basically watching the same video 😂😂😂
Nice variation
The key for white in the Scotch Game is to develop the bishop to d3, not c4. That keeps the bishop off the 4th rank where the Qh4 tactic works, and it provides a defender for the pawn on e4. The sequence is 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Bb4+ 5.c3 Bc5 6.Be3 Bb6 7.Bd3. If black does play Qh4, then white can comfortably castle, and after Nf6, white plays h3, keeping the knight from coming forward, although white has other even better options.

Just what I need 🙂
I play the Scotch Potter, and when I faced this once, I played c3, Nb3 attacking the B, Bb6 which has a 38%W/57%L for White, -0.2 eval. Thanks for pointing out the holes in my game, I'll be ready next time.
Igor, what do you do when the opponent kicks your bishop a second time. Like when they kick twice in a row once on c3 and then again on b4? The opponent can then make a third pawn move in a row with h4, trapping the bishop.
Im loving the thumbnail 😂
Do you have a course covering all the major opening traps after 1. e4 e5? If not, is there a chess book that covers this information that you can recommend? Thank you!
Conter it with 2. Nc3! Look at 1.Nc3 in Remote Chess Academy Videos!
Does it matter if we don’t play Bb4?
The main threat in scotch gambit is queen to d5 lining with bishop and white knight coming to fried liver attack, although it's great to know black knight covering queen is one panacea to queen coming to d5 ......Scotch gambit remains a big Mistry after all these years as it offshoots so many variations of attack which is even unknown today and black is sometimes clueless.
4:14 instead of white retaking on c3, what if they just castle? Black then takes another pawn on b2 and white takes back with the bishop. This is the line I’ve been looking at for the scotch gambit.
The thumbnail says it all.
Honestly, Malaniuk is one of the variations that I hate when playing Scotch. It's better according to computer to play classical but you just force them to go c3 without taking out your queen
Before watching this video, I always prayed that my opponent may not play Scotch opening .But now I am very eager to face Scotch opening. Thanks sir.
Lol the thumbnail
And it's funny how much Bb6 looks like Evans gambit.
The Thumbnail tho 😂
15:01 juicy bishop 😂
dude ,i always play the scotch gambit from white and most of the players fell for my trap you dont have to ruin it
Lol...now that its "ruined", can we play s otch gambit.... I'm black
Well said, I also like to play the scotch
Samee
Yess
It's a great one.
Finally I don't have to play the Scotch Game.
I am encouraged to play the Classic Symmetrical Defense.😎😁
The late Tony Miles' pet line (4...Bb4+)
I’m Scotch player. I know this really well, I play Nf5
I love when black plays that
I've won alot of games when black plays bishop b4, I think that move isn't accurate, because it can transpose into the dangerous danish gambit
You've made me love chess more, though it's just a hobby
I think d5 first is more accurate than Kg6 from my memory.
I am at 1600 for 10 years now after 10 of thousands of games. Have I hit my mental capacity?!
You should def try taking a break or analysing both your games and grandmasters' games
It just means you have plateaud or playing style isn't creative enough to elevate you.. For instance maybe you play Caro-Kahn or something that lame
Not at all be confident with yourself may be you might be doing some mistakes like playing bullet and blitz chess too much not working on your chess properly and you may be confused how should you work on chess and impove so start working with even if you are aged 25-26 you can play chess competitively you just need to believe on yourself and never dought your potential
Why
LiChess Tools has been showing 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Ng5 as the Haggis gambit for a long time (it references Igor Smirnov as the namer)
I call it Leeroy Jenkins
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤ ty !! Great show !!! 👏
❤
You know it's gonna be a good video when the red hood is in the thimbnail 😂
Qh4 immediately is best against the Scotch 😂
YEEEESSSSSS I agree you win a pawn and just have to defend and it’s tricky for white to find all the best moves to prove a slight advantage
Never play f6?
Against main line scotch I like Qh4
Please look at this line Igor
😃
Then you lose you rook or play with a king in the center. Good job
What are you on about mate? E4e5Nf3Nc6d4exd4Nxd4Qh4
Attacking the pawn and if the opponent develops the knight you pin with the bishop! I have no idea where you got this losing a rook idea from lol
@@user-sm7ik8vn4x ok 5. Nc3 Bb4 Be2 Qxe4 Nb5 then you must play kd8 and play with a king in the center. Respect the chess principles and don’t play for tricks
@@user-sm7ik8vn4x ok 5. Nc3 Bb4 Be2 Qxe5 Nb5… now you need to play with the king in the center. Don’t go for trick and respect the chess principles …
@@user-sm7ik8vn4x every time I reply my comment is deleted …
why couldn't white play G3 to attack the Queen and chase her away?
This guy is to generous
I must be the 1%
I am Sigma
1st
This is my worst black position
Fck ubhow is possible
you look like Aphex Twin in the thumbnail
I have lost so many times against scotch 😢
