I doubt this sort of game would really appeal to markets for educational games *OR* sniper fans, but I could imagine it being more interesting than nearly any "educational" game I've seen and get people to learn some algebra, physics, geometry, and/or trigonometry, depending on the complexity. Making the enemies some sort of generic monster or killer robots could help with moral issues. Maybe the reason you're doing all the calculations longhand is because there was a robot apocalypse and the machines can detect or manipulate tools that would do this for you. Maybe the player is a new type of soldier who has to learn these complex techniques because the old guard had been over relying on sci-fi targeting computers before the revolt.
It is honestly more refreshing than "Guess what? I, your boss and mentor, am actually evil! What a clever and unexpected twist! I bet you didn't see that coming huh?"
That was the best thing about KotOR II as well. The final boss basically says "What, were you expecting a twist? You knew I was the bad guy all along. You were deluding yourself if you thought it was someone else."

@@WolfHreda No, the joke is that this series is very unoriginal, and it takes all of its naming schemes and base ideas from other games in the stealth genre (Hitman: Contracts, Splinter Cell, Sniper Elite, Ghost Recon, Far Cry 3 and 4, etc.)
Idea: Sniper game where the sniper is telepathic and can't stop hearing their targets' thoughts and conversations. The moment they take the shot, the target's voice either completely cuts out or becomes a garbled, fading mess as their brains struggle desperately to make those vital connections they're accustomed to.
That would actually be pretty interesting, kind of like how you have people having conversations in Hitman as they ealk around. Might also be interesting to give the player a sense of what the AI is about to do/trying to do, stuff people don't usually say out loud. "Did I just see something in that bush or... Ok, no, I have to make sure."
I would love to see that! Maybe depending on the thoughts some of the guards have can add impromptu side objectives and rewards. Maybe some of the guards were drafted against their will and killing their superiors sets them free, giving you bonus rewards or XP.
How about Sniper Wolf Simulator where you fall in love with every target you hunt and if needed, you can sic your pet wolves on enemies nearby while getting into position. Before the final battle, some guy named after a serpent gets you to work for him and you're sent to some snowy island in Alaska to hunt down your boss's brother, also named after a serpent.
Maybe just add a DLC to some other open world type game where you're free to carry out a sniper contract any way you can get away with it. Hitman has a few already, but a solid 3-4 extra sniper contracts per map flooding in all at once would be interesting. Adding a Sniper contract job to GTA V Online could be fun, especially if you get a mission failure if you get spotted. Adding sniper contracts could also really liven up Animal Crossing.
I'm not entirely convinced Yahtzee didn't make up the "sniper" series. I've legitimately never seen or heard of any of the games other then in zero punctuation. It's gotta be either some elaborate joke by Yahtzee, or they hired Canada to do their marketing.
I played sniper ghost warior 2 and 1 some time later. 2 was good, 1 was meh, and the only conection was one character (unless two charactershad the same surname.)
@@henrym5889 Listen, ghost warior is first person game set in modern times, sniper elite is third person and set in ww2. There is a big diffrence. I'm pretty sure that guy didn't know what he was talking about. Elite is also more brutal and you can use other weapins than sniper rifle and pistol (which you can't do in ghost warior2 in first one you can only on certain missions, you can use other weapons if 3 and contracts tho.).
I'm getting the same vibes from this as one of the old Gears of War ZPs - incredibly generic and you hate what it represents, but on a purely mechanical level it does its job well enough that you can't really hate the game.
Pretty much exactly what it's like. You get to hear all the conversations between the enemy redshirts while you creep up on them, like, "I should spend more time with my wife and kids" and "When I get home, I'm going to get a puppy", and then you get to interrogate them with a knife to their throat, they stutteringly tell you what you want to know just before you stab them in the neck anyway. It wasn't even 10 minutes into the game where I was getting a serious case of, "Are we the baddies?"
The contracts games are basically Sniper Elite set in the modern day. You aren't here for plot. You are here to pop heads at a few hundred meters and get paid, the end.

The manga Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita (on which the movie Alita HURGH Battle Angel was based) has a bit of this, when Gally/Alita becomes an agent for the Floating City Of Doom and has a "handler" working in an office. The "handler" has her own plotline.
The person in the earpiece just starts musing on life and talking about their kids and running with weird assumptions made about the dead targets every time you kill another one of them. They just start asking you what you think, and since you’re a silent protagonist (and also out on a stealth mission) you don’t respond, and so just start assuming your answers and talking off that... That’d actually make the game halfway interesting. 😂
sounds like one of the characters from Differently Morphous, then again "Gruff sounding londoner bloke who'd sooner headbutt you in the tits than sell his pub" is an accent he pulls off well.
5:17 Man, I really hate it when I take the time to set up my sniper rifle and am about to nail a clean shot when some viking warrior bursts into my target's room and lops their head off with a battle axe. Wish they'd patch that out of the game. Other than that, great review!
I now want a game where you snipe like this but your bullets aren't actually lethal and instead mark the target for death by some sort of ghostly viking or knight and the challenge come from getting the ghost through the compound to the primary target without alerting everyone so the primary target runs away. Later levels could add different ammo types that let your ghost do different things like possession. It would probably come out assome sort of very violent puzzle game
I grew up in a military family and most of my friends are or were active military. All I can think of when I hear "Ghost Warrior" is how they sometimes bring up instances where there was a ghost shooter. IE: a shooter in a fire fight that you have no clue who they are or what side they're on. All you know is that there's a stray person definitely shooting in the direction of the current battle. So... yeah.

I think it's in fashion to crap on CI because of their past extremely low quality titles. At least for people looking for middle of the road AA quality titles, Contract 1 and 2 are seriously well made(by the standards of AA games), despite their bugs(personally I didn't encounter any game breaking ones during my play through). Much better than the 300+ hour open world borefest of the AAA types.

Better use of the name "Ghost Warrior": a Viking who died dishonorably has been returned to Midgard as a ghost and given a second chance to earn his place in Valhalla during a later conflict like the Crusades or the Hundred Years War or something.
The fact that Yahtzee half-repeated himself so many times during a 5 minute review just shows how likely it is that this game will reach no.1 on the 2021 bland list

Hello, Yahtzee, I have been a big fan of your videos for years and I was wondering if you could review Night in The Woods. I know sorta touched on it in one of the Ghost Recon games, but I honestly think it deserves a full review. What it may lack in gameplay mechanics it more than makes up for it in characters, the soundtrack, and the overall atmosphere of the game. Keep up the amazing work!
When I think "Ghost Warrior", my mind drifts towards Native American folklore. Like a Ghost Warrior would be a Cherokee combatant who knows how to interact with the spirit realm, possibly painting themselves with pale colours in order to terrify the enemy. Sort of like the original Prey from 2006, which really needs another digital release because it deserves better than to be swept under the rug.
My issue with these sniper games; you don't want the help so you set it on hard but with evwry miss = reload. And of course in a older Sniper game the enemy running with a heavy machine gun can headshot you from more than 1000 meters.
I’d love to play a game that has a “no nonsense operator” that just talks about random shit. “Now agent please take up- hang on there’s a fly on the screen. (Distant bang) (distant bang) I didn’t get the fly, but hopefully you get the target. Oh cool my delivery is here. Why not if you fail to take out your prey, sometimes if you do not fail, you are whisked to another location where you have to make up for your loss? Or as a result of your lack of success , two other missions are there as a result of your failure, two new targets have arisen and now you have take them out as well the one you fell short of to snipe. Or have enemy drones take out your drones or enemy snipers who will take you out if you do not kill a marked person within a time limit. Or have a space fantasy level, where you have to snipe a villian whose head is in a head jar with spider legs or a jet pack to fly around. Now, try to snipe that guy's head while he is evading your shots.

I love that the box describes this as the biggest selling first person sniping franchise of all time, which feels like an overly narrow superlative.

I love this game. It's the exact thing I needed from a sniper game.
I think it's in fashion to crap on CI because of their past extremely low quality titles.
At least for people looking for middle of the road AA quality titles, Contract 1 and 2 are seriously well made(by the standards of AA games), despite their bugs(personally I didn't encounter any game breaking ones during my play through).
Much better than the 300+ hour open world borefest of the AAA types.

Hello, Yahtzee, I have been a big fan of your videos for years and I was wondering if you could review Night in The Woods. I know sorta touched on it in one of the Ghost Recon games, but I honestly think it deserves a full review. What it may lack in gameplay mechanics it more than makes up for it in characters, the soundtrack, and the overall atmosphere of the game.

Something I've always wondered is why they never did a review of darkest dungeon
When I think "Ghost Warrior", my mind drifts towards Native American folklore. Like a Ghost Warrior would be a Cherokee combatant who knows how to interact with the spirit realm, possibly painting themselves with pale colours in order to terrify the enemy. Sort of like the original Prey from 2006, which really needs another digital release because it deserves better than to be swept under the rug.
Could’ve made a twist of having the target be a decoy. To get you to take the flack.
The best is when you use a drone and if the enemy see the drone they instantly know where your hiding and fire on you

My issue with these sniper games; you don't want the help so you set it on hard but with evwry miss = reload.
And of course in a older Sniper game the enemy running with a heavy machine gun can headshot you from more than 1000 meters.

Why not if you fail to take out your prey, sometimes if you do not fail, you are whisked to another location where you have to make up for your loss? Or as a result of your lack of success , two other missions are there as a result of your failure, two new targets have arisen and now you have take them out as well the one you fell short of to snipe. Or have enemy drones take out your drones or enemy snipers who will take you out if you do not kill a marked person within a time limit.
Or have a space fantasy level, where you have to snipe a villian whose head is in a head jar with spider legs or a jet pack to fly around. Now, try to snipe that guy's head while he is evading your shots.
Would like to see you do a retro review on Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Campaign mode would be fine.
