  • Tracy, Izzy, Miles and I spend time at one of our favorite beach destination’s in FL, Cape San Blas. Even though the area took a direct hit from Hurricane Michael, which was one of only two hurricanes to hit land as a category five storm, it is back thriving with some noticeable beach erosion but still awesome!

I prefer Hallandale beach or Hollywood beach Florida two beautiful beaches and lot of lounges to enjoy.

We were there the end of May 2023. I was extremely unimpressed! This was the ugliest beach I have ever been too on the gulf! Yes I am serious and I love the beach.

Yes, we like Cape San Blas too. Our usual trips are to St George Island, Mexico Beach, Cape San Blas or Indian Pass.

The beach looks beautiful! We will be camping at the state park there shortly.

My wife and I used to vacation down there with our kids in the 80's and 90's. Even back then the cape was eroding in places and Michael wasn't the first hurricane to impact that area. The rock seawall right as you turn out to the main peninsula marks the spot where the peninsula was almost cut through by a hurricane from before we went there. That rock seawall was added after further erosion from a close miss hurricane back in the late eighties or early nineties. Long before we started vacationing there, houses were located along that stretch as well as trees. That area was called the stump hole because off shore there were the remains of tree stumps as well as the septic tanks from homes that used to be where the ocean is now. Beautiful area though. From your aerial footage I can see there are more homes down there now. Back some years ago there were the beachfront homes and usually a row or two of homes behind them. It looks like now the homes pretty much go all the way to the road, both from the gulf side as well as the bay side. Looking on google earth it appears that the gulf from Indian Pass all the way to the curve at the rock wall has also been mostly developed. Our first year in that area we rented a home at Indian Pass, but the water down there was always too murky from the tidal outflow from Apalachicola Bay.

It has some shells but mostly broken ones and honestly we’ve never found any shark teeth…yet. 😜

The tip on the state park is the best for that.
