I am a full-time Real Estate Agent and long-time local in Destin, FL. I love where I live and I love what I do. My biggest joy is helping others attain the working-living beach lifestyle that I have grown up with. I am a mother to a great kid, a wife to an amazing husband, and we all co-parent Rocco, a fluffy Golden Doodle. Jen@taylorallenllc.com ~ 850-259-2894

I sell Destin Florida real estate and I love what I do. As a Texas native, I fell in love with this area after moving here with my husband's military career. We are now permanent residents and locals on the Emerald Coast. I have two super active kids and one fur baby that we all love a little too much! Stephanie@taylorallenllc.com ~ 850-225-6159

The Sand Dollar Cafe. Best breakfast around and great people. Love PSJ. Our family has a house at Indian Pass.

Nice to hear! We are looking for a winter home to base from in our small travel trailer and the area around Port Saint Joe is looking really nice! We are in another area in FL right now that we really had high hopes for, but it's just not right for us.

Good for you guys! We love the area. There are lots of state parks in all of the surrounding areas.

Hottest place I've ever been in my life. You know it's hot when you get out of the truck and look over at your friend from the Philippines and he starts laughing knowing what you are thinking It was the middle of August.

If you can't afford the high beach prices then Wewahitchka could be an alternative being near the beach.

@@BeachLivingwithJen Come to a Texas Beach in August, last year we had 100 plus degree temps for one entire month. I actually went to Panama City for a break from the heat. 90's felt refreshing after a couple of months of 100's plus or at least near 100. I'm SERIOUSLY considering buying there this year. I'm 63 years old, retired at 55, been going to PCB for 40 plus years since my spring break days during college. Now that I'm retired, I spend at least 2 months a year in PCB, usually divided between three trips. I do love PCB, but I live in a tiny coastal town and while I do love all that PCB has to offer, after living in a town with an 800 population for 4 decades, PCB is a little too people-ish for me. I love the small town coastal vibe there, but only about an hour to PCB and all it offers. My biggest regret, not buying in 2016 when I first retired and real estate in the panhandle was still a fantastic buyer's market. While property values are pretty much tanking everywhere, I get sick looking at property prices in the Panhandle compared to 2016 prices.

I was interested in buying there or cape San Blas (to use ourselves and also rent short term) but was told by a realtor that the taxes were going to be the highest in the area soon and that there is a huge bug problem because of the bay. Wondering if that’s the case or if they just wanted to show homes in Mexico beach.

    • @BeachLivingwithJen

Hi! Property taxes in Mexico Beach and Port Saint Joe are pretty much the same, and both counties have lower property taxes than the state average. We live on the Bay in Destin and stay on the Bay in Port Saint Joe. Bugs are the same and not that bad. There are fewer bugs because of the Bay breeze.

    • @rondafun1

I bought on the cape in December after going there for years. It’s the best place ever,I find the breeze keeps the bugs away mostly…..not always.

Can the 37 miles of beach be cycled? Is it contiguous?
