I'm a BS Biology graduate now working as a Medical Reviewer. Honestly, may kanya kanya talagang "advantages" yung iba't ibang pre-med courses so you can't really say na "best" pre-med course yung ganito, ganyan. My advice lang siguro if gusto mong magpurse ng Medicine is alamin mo kung ano yung passion mo. Alamin mo kung saan ka interested para habang natututo ka, naeestablish na rin yung "mindset" mo sa Med. Kasi yung iba along the way, nabuburn out. Like for example, kapag about ortho yung complaint ng patient ko, may background naman ako kasi may Human Anatomy and Physiology kaming subject under BS Biology program pero mas malupit ang OT/PT pagdating sa Ana & Physio. Tapos kapag MedTech/RadTech, saludo ako sa kanila kasi mamaw sa mga technicalities sa lab. Yung step by step procedure alam nila lahat. Histology, Biotechnology, Immunology usually mga strengths nila. For me, wala siguro sa pre-med course 'yun kung mag-eexcel ka ba sa Med or what. Siguro kung na-establish mo na yung passion mo nung undergrad ka pa lang, mas madali na maka-keep up sa Med. You'll meet a lot of people naman that will help you along the way. Keep that fire burning! Kayo na ang susunod na bayani ng bayan 💚
Good pre-med course: Med-Tech (Helpful sa 1st year of med school kasi more of anatomy/physiology subjects mo) Physical Therapy (same as med tech) Pharma Nursing (This will help you lalo pag nasa 3rd year ka na ng med school kasi more of patient management and understanding ng disease process)

I was assigned in xray department for two days... for our work immersion subject. The radtechs wants us to take bs in radiologic technology because they don't have toxic environment unlike in the laboratory department but my mom didn't allow me because she reasoned out that it's too dangerous for me because of the radiation (I'm always hiding btw) I ended up taking bs medtech and I'm starting to like it and I can see myself as a medtech if I'm not gonna pursue medicine.

Considering all of my first year medical subjects, RMT and RPh are advantageous. Pero YES in pursuing your interest. Kasi mas makakasurvive ka kapag gusto mo yung ginagawa mo. ❤
Physical Therapist here 😊 Magandang pre-med ang PT since master mo ang Anatomy (Gross Ana, NeuroAna and Kinesiology.) At nakahiwalay pa ang Physiology. PTs are also trained for their clinical and decision making skills since you are on hand sa patient mo at makakasama mo sila ng matagal na panahon. Tinetrain ka na rin for Physical Assessment so easy na lang sayo yun. And of course, alam mo na rin ang different specials test for differential diagnosis sa pasyente mo. I was a former Pharma student but I must say na nag-enjoy ako sa PT kahit sobrang hirap at kahit 5 year course siya (4 years na aral plus 1 year internship)

Hi po Fellow RPh ! ❤ sana makapag-vlog ka din po dito sa Channel mo ng mga Pharmacy Related kasi in the reality setting, Pharmacists ( i am not saying na mga Pharmacists lang hah. I mean there are other professions but I am saying this base on my opinion and syempre, Pharmacist din ako hehe ) are one of those profession na hindi kilala like they always say na "tindera lang ng gamot", "hindi naman kayo frontliner", "hindi naman kayo doctor anong alam nyo sa gamot" things like that. Syempre parang at some point, sampal sa profession mo un diba...kahit na sabihin na wag na lang pansinin pero kasi ang sakit isipin na ganun lang kababa ang tingin ng tao sa mga Pharmacists.😔 lalo sa community setting, na ikaw pa ang masama pag hindi mo napagbigyan ng antibiotic eh concern ka lang naman sa health nila but when you try to explain, they don't appreciate it but rather tataasan ka nila ng boses at ipapahiya para in the end pagbigyan mo sila hehe. Im a BS Accountancy and i'll be taking NMAT😢 . Medicine talaga yong sa puso ko and I've been reading biochem, anatomy and other med books since elementary kasi my Grandpa was a doctor (deads na sya) and marami syang books. I dont usually go out nong elem pa ako so reading med books and answering Board review exam books was my hobby. My parents didnt even give me the chance to get pre med closely related to med course in college kasi takot sila na magaya ko si lolo na nastroke in line of duty. So ayon accountancy ako. But i'll be taking NMAT and i'll decide to pursue base on my results on that.
@ian I had a classmate in medschool who was an IT, nakagraduate naman din :) I have to agree with doc Jerry na may advantage kapag life science courses, kasi familiar na with terms, but you can still do it :) I think, best din makapagreview ng maigi sa NMAT, para magkaroon ng konting background. Grade 11 po ako stem student. May kakilala po akong doctor na pharma din po ang pre-med nya and also may isa din po akong natanong na doctor na ang pre-med nya po ay biology. Now that alam ko pong ito si doc at pharma din, baka po pharma din po kunin ko in the future lalo na't maggegermany kami wish me luck po!
MEDTECH (Edge on Histology, Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology) PHARMA (Edge on Pharma) NURSING (Edge on Clinical Skills) But Always remember, once na pinasok niyo ang Medicine, LAHAT KAYO AS IN LAHAT, ON EQUAL FOOTING. May mga mas nag-eexcel pa nga na non-medical related premed course eh like, Agriculture, Physics, etc. Nasa student yan, kung gaano siya kasipag mag-aral.
If you guys are asking on what’s the best strand for SHS for those who wants to take PRE MED after college it’s actually HA which is Health Allied, it’s a strand that you can take in UST if you’re wondering, but if you are in a different school there’s STEM which Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics that you can also take. Mas may advantage lang yung mga nagtake ng STEM if they are going for pre-med, kasi yung STEM, it has minor subjects na pede mo ng alisin sa pre med course mo, pero if you graduated with ABM; it's fine... tatanggapin ka pa rin ng school for pre-med course, kaso lang you have to take some minor subjects na itinuro na sa STEM.

Doc, Insights and background naman regarding about the Pre-meds, or rather allied health. It became a huge topic online that some allied healths not being honored in the country, Doctors and Nurses lang. I think it would be a great topic for the people viewing your platform to be knowledgeable about the different allied health professions. For some areas in the country, Radiographers,Respiratory Therapists and even Medical Technologist could not even go to their respective duties because as ordered by certain memos that only "Doctors and Nurses" are the only medical frontliners. So ayun.

My sister is a PGI(Post Grad Intern) now and ang sinabe nya the best premed course is either medtech or nursing. More on Anatomy&Physiology daw yung MedProper ee.. Kasi yung mga classmate nya na ganyan yung premed mas nadalian sila in some subject ksi pinagdaanan pinagaralan na nila
Yes Doc Jerry is correct walang the best Pre Med Course pero you should always choose a course na fall back ka in case di ka mag proceed sa medicine yung course na hindi ka mahihirapan maghanap ng trabaho. In my case I took up BS Medtech kasi yung ang choice ko as pre med course pero di ako nag proceed sa medicine kasi I was given the opportunity to work abroad which is I think good decision and I didn’t regret it kasi andun pa rin yung passion ko and still I can serve other people. Just a piece of advice to young people choose a course that you are passionate and hindi lang pera yung motivation nyo.
Hindi po talaga madali ang Pharmacy. HUHU akala ko magkakabisa lang ako ng gamot at "wala daw math" pero ang dami kong kinagulat na subjects lalo nung nag 3rd & 4th year na ko. Pero kapag gusto mo talaga yung medical field, kahit mahirap, ipupursue mo pa rin at magpapatuloy ka. God bless mga future RPh!! And mga future doctors!!
Taking up Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is good for shs students out there in terms of preparation. Pero, para sa mga non-STEM students, PWEDE po kayong kumuha ng med course. Depende nalang sa school if they decide na kukuha pa kayo ng units or hindi na. 🤓
Incoming 3rd year med student here. I would personally choose pharmacy as premed kung maibabalik lang ang oras. Medyo hirap kasi ako sa part na yan lalo na sa pag memorize ng mga gamot and all. Pero yun lang naman, wala parin talaga sya sa premed. Yung kilala kong cum laude dati sa nursing kalevel ko na ngayon in a way na parehas lang kami bumabagsak 😂 Bless you kung mataas ang IQ mo, pero pasipagan at paramihan lang talaga ng nabasa.

Hi po Fellow RPh ! ❤ sana makapag-vlog ka din po dito sa Channel mo ng mga Pharmacy Related kasi in the reality setting, Pharmacists ( i am not saying na mga Pharmacists lang hah. I mean there are other professions but I am saying this base on my opinion and syempre, Pharmacist din ako hehe ) are one of those profession na hindi kilala like they always say na "tindera lang ng gamot", "hindi naman kayo frontliner", "hindi naman kayo doctor anong alam nyo sa gamot" things like that. Syempre parang at some point, sampal sa profession mo un diba...kahit na sabihin na wag na lang pansinin pero kasi ang sakit isipin na ganun lang kababa ang tingin ng tao sa mga Pharmacists.😔 lalo sa community setting, na ikaw pa ang masama pag hindi mo napagbigyan ng antibiotic eh concern ka lang naman sa health nila but when you try to explain, they don't appreciate it but rather tataasan ka nila ng boses at ipapahiya para in the end pagbigyan mo sila hehe.

Im a BS Accountancy and i'll be taking NMAT😢 . Medicine talaga yong sa puso ko and I've been reading biochem, anatomy and other med books since elementary kasi my Grandpa was a doctor (deads na sya) and marami syang books. I dont usually go out nong elem pa ako so reading med books and answering Board review exam books was my hobby. My parents didnt even give me the chance to get pre med closely related to med course in college kasi takot sila na magaya ko si lolo na nastroke in line of duty. So ayon accountancy ako. But i'll be taking NMAT and i'll decide to pursue base on my results on that.

@ian I had a classmate in medschool who was an IT, nakagraduate naman din :) I have to agree with doc Jerry na may advantage kapag life science courses, kasi familiar na with terms, but you can still do it :) I think, best din makapagreview ng maigi sa NMAT, para magkaroon ng konting background. Kaya mo yan :)

Pharmacy student here🙋 napaka hirap ng course na Pharmacy 2nd yr. palang ako pero nahihirapan na lalo na't new curriculum kami ngayon dahil naabutan namin yung k-12 program kaya doble yung hirap ng Course na Pharmacy ngayong generation nato. Grade 11 po ako stem student. May kakilala po akong doctor na pharma din po ang pre-med nya and also may isa din po akong natanong na doctor na ang pre-med nya po ay biology. Now that alam ko pong ito si doc at pharma din, baka po pharma din po kunin ko in the future lalo na't maggegermany kami wish me luck po!

If you guys are asking on what’s the best strand for SHS for those who wants to take PRE MED after college it’s actually HA which is Health Allied, it’s a strand that you can take in UST if you’re wondering, but if you are in a different school there’s STEM which Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics that you can also take. @@aceandrelayosa7532 Yes... SHS will never determine your course. You can take ABM and suddenly take pre-med. Mas may advantage lang yung mga nagtake ng STEM if they are going for pre-med, kasi yung STEM, it has minor subjects na pede mo ng alisin sa pre med course mo, pero if you graduated with ABM; it's fine... tatanggapin ka pa rin ng school for pre-med course, kaso lang you have to take some minor subjects na itinuro na sa STEM.

Doc, Insights and background naman regarding about the Pre-meds, or rather allied health.
It became a huge topic online that some allied healths not being honored in the country, Doctors and Nurses lang. I think it would be a great topic for the people viewing your platform to be knowledgeable about the different allied health professions. For some areas in the country, Radiographers,Respiratory Therapists and even Medical Technologist could not even go to their respective duties because as ordered by certain memos that only "Doctors and Nurses" are the only medical frontliners.

My sister is a PGI(Post Grad Intern) now and ang sinabe nya the best premed course is either medtech or nursing. More on Anatomy&Physiology daw yung MedProper ee.. Kasi yung mga classmate nya na ganyan yung premed mas nadalian sila in some subject ksi pinagdaanan pinagaralan na nila

Yes Doc Jerry is correct walang the best Pre Med Course pero you should always choose a course na fall back ka in case di ka mag proceed sa medicine yung course na hindi ka mahihirapan maghanap ng trabaho. In my case I took up BS Medtech kasi yung ang choice ko as pre med course pero di ako nag proceed sa medicine kasi I was given the opportunity to work abroad which is I think good decision and I didn’t regret it kasi andun pa rin yung passion ko and still I can serve other people. Just a piece of advice to young people choose a course that you are passionate and hindi lang pera yung motivation nyo.

Hindi po talaga madali ang Pharmacy. HUHU akala ko magkakabisa lang ako ng gamot at "wala daw math" pero ang dami kong kinagulat na subjects lalo nung nag 3rd & 4th year na ko. Taking up Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is good for shs students out there in terms of preparation. Pero, para sa mga non-STEM students, PWEDE po kayong kumuha ng med course. Depende nalang sa school if they decide na kukuha pa kayo ng units or hindi na. 🤓

choose STEM strand in SHS para di ka mahirapan sa chem, physics, math and biology sa pre-med of choice mo.
Incoming 3rd year med student here. I would personally choose pharmacy as premed kung maibabalik lang ang oras. Medyo hirap kasi ako sa part na yan lalo na sa pag memorize ng mga gamot and all. Pero yun lang naman, wala parin talaga sya sa premed. Yung kilala kong cum laude dati sa nursing kalevel ko na ngayon in a way na parehas lang kami bumabagsak 😂 Bless you kung mataas ang IQ mo, pero pasipagan at paramihan lang talaga ng nabasa.
