The announcement now, of both the Mando movie & Ahsoka S2 (even though, there has been rumours have been around for a little while) just seems like a distraction. From the backlash, in regards the director of the Rey movie.

They made billions at the box office, but between purchasing Lucasfilm, the cost of making and promoting the films ( roughly 3-5 hundred million per episode) they likely made a little over half a billion, in the 650,000,000 range considering they only get about half the take at the box office. As far as money acquired from things like toys and collectibles, that's down across the board. I belive some of the star wars attractions at Disney world have been somewhat profitable. I think they've made some money off Lucasfilm, just not what they'd like you to believe lol considering they've been hit or miss with the television series as well, and it's harder to calculate what the profits have been from any of the series shows

@@BomaGum If you're speaking of Jon Favreau's Mandoverse film, Favreau has already written the plot outline and chapters for Season 4 of The Mandalorian (which will feature the new characters from, Skeleton Crew). Most likely, much or most of the story for Season 4 will be told in a 2-and-a-half-hour theatrical movie release. Favreau, like Filoni, doesn't start a project, until he has a clear plan of what his storytelling will entail, and where his characters' arcs are mapped.

This was the right move! Favreau should direct a Mando movie! Thank you Lucasfilm/Disney. Focus on New Republic projects. I still don't think the Rey New Jedi Order movie should happen (make a movie hundreds of years into the future with older Grogu)

Kathleen Kennedy despises Luke Skywalker. If he plays ANY part it will be a very small role.

To me making a Mandalorian movie seems strange at this point. We know that season 4 was already written and to take that and reforge it into a movie is a lot of work and is a whole different way of storytelling. The Mandalorian’s identity is that of being Disney Plus’s biggest show so to remove it from that format now and make it a movie seems too early to me. Knowing John Favreu is heading it makes me feel a bit better, knowing that he’s great with movies, but it just seems to early in the Mandalorian life span. One of my biggest gripes with the show is Grogu. His return was way too early and ever since season 2 he’s felt more like product placement and merchandising than an actual character. He serves no purpose any more. His whole aging process is off to begin with and now he doesn’t do anything but exist to make toys. Season 1 he was this mystery figure. Season 2 he was on a mission with Din to find Jedi. Season 3 he wasn’t supposed to be there. He makes no progress in aging, which is getting a little ridiculous at this point compared to Yoda. So to me in order for Grogu to be interesting he’s got to go through a major growth spurt. Take Peaky Blinders for example. Netflix made a massive show that lasted six season. Only after finishing what was necessary to be told in the show, and completing the series, do they move on to expand the story and universe with a movie. Overall I just find it to be too early for the Mandalorian to become a movie.

Disney is going to try to milk the success of the Mandalorian until they drive it into the ground. It should have been one small story in the Star Wars universe, not the center of the universe. Grogu was okay for season one and two but the story needs to move on and let grogu grow up and appear later in the timeline.

KK realized things were not working and took some time to reassess? Not even you believe in that. They keep doing the exact same thing that trashed the brand, in the shows.

Taking breaks from movies was fine but when they saw the formula that could work with mando 1 and 2 they decided to walk back everything and damage star wars again.

Did Disney showed Jon Favreau mouth with bunch of money, because as far i remember Mandalorian 3 was lady boss series and Mandalorian became side kick on his own series. Jon Favreau was saying probably wont direct any Mandalorian new series and he said that some people from Disney very much interrupted his creative vision and thats what we got that boss lady on mandalorian last series ... so this BRAKING NEWS doesn't make sense..
Listening to all this, Josh, makes me think it might even be cool to alternate a title's format from feature to series, on repeat.Or vice versa, on repeat. Could keep the content refreshing to change up the story lengths.

It’s all about the director of the next SW movie. They had a plan, Bob Iger cam back and and saw how things were a mess. He said the next movie is the last chance for those in charge of Lucasfilm and wanted a competent and proven director of which Favreau is the obvious and really only choice. So, change of plans and now he will be in charge of the next movie. For better or worse, at least we know the Favreau knows how to make a great film. I’ll hope for the best.

Movie wise, the dilemma is Disney pushing the DEI agenda and kiddie formula. Rogue One has been the only movie considered good since the take over. My hope the Force is strong with Filoni.

Last week SOC went on to CNN seemingly on her own, without Lucasfilm hype, in order to plug herself, her agenda and her position in making a Star Wars film... as we all know, the Rey movie is pretty low on the list of what fans want. Given ALL the turmoil at Disney, I wonder if LFL was planning to scrap the Rey movie, and SOC took it upon herself to get out to normies and put out the word in order to try and force LFL's hand to keep it on schedule? There's nothing from Star Wars to look forward to while KK is still at Lucasfilm. For over 10 years she's been in charge and there's been way more misses than hits and anyone would be misguided to think anything is going to change.
Season 3 of Mando and BoBF had some good bits but didn't quite hit the mark (and that has nothing to do with everyone complaining about Bo Katan taking more of a lead role, personally I enjoyed the character and Boba Fett wasn't quite the BAMF everyone expected him to be). Andor was completely different but a bit slow, Ahsoka I quite enjoyed but a bit fed up with how so many people are bitching about it because there were so many women in it! Be more concerned about how the characters are written rather than what gender they are!
Kenobi should've been called the Reva and Leia show as it concentrated more about them rather than Old Ben looking after a young Luke and was quite frankly the biggest let down of everything released after the awful sequel trilogy we got, the reason it didn't work was 1) it's was trying to be too woke and failed miserably. 2) They treated the legacy characters as a joke and disposable. 3) there was no clear direction as to where the story was going and they were obviously making it up as they went along and it shows (TLJ was a complete abortion and should never have been released) Rogue One was good and Solo would've been if it didn't have Waller Bridge's stupid droid in it or made Lando a joke by making him pan-sexual that would smash anything that moved (totally un-necessary and unwanted, a blatant virtue signal).
As for future projects, the Acolyte is gonna suck a Bantha's Johnson big time and nobody really wants a Rey movie especially one directed by someone who has only made feminist activist documentaries and a couple of episodes of one of the least favourite Marvel shows! Clearly only hired because she is a feminist and activist and is right up KK's alley, unfortunately KK's idea of the Force being female and women are better in every way has proven to accumulate in a slow progressive death to a once beloved franchise.
not gonnma lie, Favroe sparks some hopes. Except mostly anything Lucasfilm has planned lately.
What’s the point?
If Disney (especially) or any other studio wants to Make Money then they Need to LEAVE IT IN THE THEATERS for a few months.
Instead they continue to ship things off to streaming before it seems even two months have gone by.
This is one of the reasons people aren’t going to the movies, why would or should they when audiences know it will be on streaming in just a few weeks where they can watch it at home m.
Personally I enjoy the theatre experience and want to get back to it more often (there just haven’t been too many films which have excited Me enough to do so in the past 5 years).
Only on a big screen do I feel you can really get a scope of scale (think Dune) and Speed (think any car chase or dog fight).
Remember when a hit box office performer would stay there for months at a time (especially summer blockbusters!) yeah just maybe we can get back to that IF, production companies put out things and themes that get U.S. excited.
Make them Exclusive to movie theaters and Don’t out them on streaming for at least a year.
That or just let cinemas die and only do mini series.

The Disney+ shows were really doing further damage to the franchise. I'm all for them going back to big-budget movies. I hope it's good, but Disney have done more bad than good with Star Wars.

Let's hope the Mandalorian season 4 and Ahsoka season 2 will release next year. Maybe Jon Favreau's star wars movie will release on May 2026 and the rise of Skywalker sequel movie will release on December 2025 and I really wish I was that movie. I could be the son of Luke Skywalker.
