    Thanks for the feedback Dave, It makes complete sense what you say about the pump and glide of this wing. It is a high aspect ratio wing, just like a glider aircraft vs cessna wing. They are exceptionally efficient at gliding with little lift. Watch videos of others on similar and the glide distance between pumps is huge, so efficient even with smaller pumps, I'm sure it'll be amazing

    Hey mate... I love the ART series - have all of them for winging and SUP foiling in surf. Live on the Gold Coast, so similar conditions to Sunny Coast. I love the 1099, but can't wait to wing foil on the 899 when the surf is a little bigger 2-3ft+ and then the 799 when surf gets a lot bigger 6ft+. I use a bigger board than you for winging so that I can get on the ART wings in any wind conditions. I also like the bigger board for getting out through the break in sketchy winds when the surf gets big. So yeah - next wing in black series - 899 - at least for winging. You might want to go 999 for prone - but I'm no expert on prone as I SUP foil when not winging. I use the 899 on the SUP foil when surf gets 3ft+ and now going to the 1099 for sub 3ft (I did trade in the 999 for the 1099, after frothing on the 999 for 6 months).... but each size step in the ART series is so worthwhile, different from the size before... and so much fun!

      I think it'll be the 899 for me. I had a great session on the Wing today with the 1099 - would love the playfulness of the 899 in the surf winging though :)

      Hi what size and make of SUP you riding ?

      Been riding the 6’1” One DW Egg. So good - 108ltrs - only 5.5kg

    I know it might be tough at your weight but have you dock started this foil?

    Is anyone still winging the art 1099, especially now with the art v2's out? Also, what skinny stabs have you used with the 1099?

    So you reckon15 knots for the 1099 minimum, and around 12-13 for 1050?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah - probably about 10-12 knots minimum. When I filmed this video I was riding Naish wings - which are very loose canopy wings. Since getting the Duotone unit V2 I've been riding a 6M and can get up in about 12 knots comfortably. I've also gotten alot better in 7 month since this upload. So that matters too :)

      @@davewestfoils what about 899/999, would that be 15+? I'm able to get up in around 12 knots quite easily on the 1099.

    hi! is it possible to dockstart this wing?

    I just got the 899 and loved it first couple sessions I winged it, now I'm looking into this one too for lighter wind since I could tell that 899 one would be harder to get going with less power. Think this would work for 79 KG weight?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that'll work well for you! At my 95kg the 999 could be my go to wing. Does everything. The 899 could do that for you for sure.

    Thanks for this. A glimmer of hope for the not so petit? Likely wishful thinking, but I'm thinking, hoping, maybe, perhaps... pease let this be the wing that finally unlocks pumping for this 95Kg horse. I get the occasional 2:1 on an axis 890, but it's hit and miss and I'm working way too hard when I do. Meanwhile my 70Kg mates are pumping circles around me. As someone who normally holds his own- I can't tell you how frustrating this is. Killing me! Just getting onto a Wing as well and think this would be a good one for that as well.

      I agree with that feeling. Obviously being heavier is always a disadvantage - kitesurfing, surfing etc. just physics. But I have the feeling that being heavier could finally be an advantage. Foils have so much lift and efficiency that being able to wrangle a foil at speed may be an advantage. The pump technique on the ART 1099 is a little bit different than other foils I've used. And you definitely can't afford to miss a beat in your cadence but once you lock into that rhythm....It's incredible. I'm going to do a video of just flat water pumping it and a some videos of me riding it. An intermediate rider. I'm getting 3:1's on the 75cm mast - only time I miss is when I come off the back of the wave and catch turbulence. So I'm running the 82cm mast to try and give me more wiggle room. Hope this helps :)

    What front wing did you decide on for light wind winging days?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m on the 1099 for light days. Can be hard to get going in sub 10 for sure.

      @@davewestfoils I tend to think most foils are hard to get going sub-10

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jbwiden True with some exceptions. 1310 and the 1300 PNG are pretty easy going. I think my comments were in response to some people telling me it would be a sub 10 knots foil - which I definitely don't think it is.
