I'm so happy I bought the 1201, works great with the HM 82 Mast and the thing has crazy good control in choppy conditions, I'm LOVING this wing! Gliding on swell is crazy fun on this, thanks for another helpful video!
Hi, great to hear! I agree, it’s the best one they have made so far(of what I have tested) they were first out with the HA foils and now they have stepped the game up one notch. The ARTPRO have real promise to be next level in the evolution of foils. Hope to try the Spitfires soon, to know what they bring to the riding. Stoked so far with the 1201!
Thanks Fredric, that was a terrific review of the AP1201. You have to try the 1300V2, you will love it b/c it's pretty fast for a big wing, arcs nice into turns, & super stable. How did you find the pitch control of the 1201? Turns better for sure with the ultra-short & crazy short fuses for sure.
Thank you! Yes, the 1300V2 is a foil i would like to have a go at! The shorter fuses are very good for increased manoeuvrability for the bigger foils. In my experience they pump less compared to the short fuse of about 700mm.
Another great video - pleased you took your time to test it in different conditions with different rears. Keep up the great work informing us foilers. On another note, I’m looking to spend 5-6 weeks in European summer 2024 in Spain… looking for tips as to where to base myself, Mallorca? Islas Canárias? Thanks again for the great work 🤙
Thank you Robert! I appreciate your comment! If you want to be in Europe maybe canarias is a bit on the outer rim. Not close to anything else. Mainland Spain or Mallorca will keep you close to everything. The location of your base would depend on what your objective is with the trip. Mallorca has it all, but still an island. Mainland Spain you can reach rest of Europe by car if desired. Mallorca has the afternoon thermic wind that usually makes riding possible every day. Tarifa, on the mainland, can be even better but more seasonal. If you want more info, send me an email. You have my email address in the bottom of the info about the video. Thanks again and stay safe!
I got a 1201 the other day. Only have an hour on it but Its probably my new goto wing for light conditions. Crazy glide and pumpability. My 1300 is will be used for the ultralight wind days, but the rest will be 1201. Selling my 1050 now. No real need for it I think. Great video!.
Thank you. Yes, I agree. The 1050 could easily be replaced with the 1201. Actually, since I started to ride the 1201, the 1050 has been in its case all the time. :-) I’ll sell it to someone new to Axis as the 1050 is a great foil to start with in the ecosystem of axis. You have a lot of fun ahead of you! Remember the 1201 works fine on windier days as well. Pair with the 360/45 skinny and it goes pretty fast. And depending of the speed of the waves, it could be just perfect for windy days to have “endless”glide…
Roy, I’d say ARTPRO 1201 from 11-12 knots. Spitfire 960 from 12-16 knots and Spitfire 840 from 16- even ART 899 is great in strong wind. Haven’t been on the ARTPRO smaller versions but they are “scary fast” 😜
Hi, thank you. I try my best to get as much value into the videos as possible. 😊 I think Dylan is on the ball when he says go smaller than you think. I like the 360/45 a lot. It’s quite all round. Only from 8 -10 knots it would require more technique. And you would probably be better off (at least in the beginning) with the 360/55. I think you need both to have options depending of the conditions. Where do you ride?
@@wingfoil_mallorca Thanks for your Reply, yes I think two options would be better, for pairing up with light wind and then nuking days. I ride opposite you Costa Daurada from Tarragona to the Delta de Ebro. We mainly get wind chop conditions for the sea.
Nice review. Axis keeps inventing new shapes, I wish I had access to all their new suff just to compare. I have 2 Axis front wings 970 and 1150. Both are from the red series, and feel like super outdated. It looks like there is no reason to start from the Red series at all nowadays. 1201 might be good for a new learner. I learned how to foil straight and gybe in 10-20kt. But 20kt is not really fun on my setup. It feels overpowered even with 40m wing. So I'm upgrading to the Black series for 15-25kt wind days. I'm considering ART 999 paired with 360/45 skinny and Crazyshort Advance fuselage. This is going to be a huge change for me, since each part of the setup is upgrades. But my research tells me that I should be fine with it after a learning curve
Thank you. My opinion is, depending on your background of course, start with everything really big to progress fast. I do not suggest 1201 or 1099 for low wind if you do not have a very good level. 999 will be great for fast days! 899 as well. Good luck.
@@wingfoil_mallorca Thank you. I had lots of questions I wanted to add into my comment but then I found answers in other your videos. You described the transitioning to a smaller rear wing and fuselage quite well. Keep going, this is really helpful
@@wingfoil_mallorca What do you think of Skinnies in comparison to the Progressive series? Is it okay to go from a 390 to a 355/55 (or even smaller) for a rider who is working on gybes, in your opinion? I'm considering the 1201 to fill the gap between my large foils: PNG 1150, BSC 970, and Art 999. Not for low wind days, as you said, but for something at 12-15kt (I call it not low :)). Currently my 970 feels too slow in these conditions. I'm not sure though if 1050 could work for me better. It's a very poplar wing but it has the same size as 970. It must be faster, but aren't they in the same league? Maybe 980-930 would work better and 1050 and 1201. It's just so many options...
Hello thanks for the great video. Compare to the ART 999 and 899 I have to position the mast a lot forward in the box (with Skinny 362). Is it the same for you ?
Thank you and you are welcome. Yes, same for me. The speed is higher and the lift greater. It is wise to compensate by moving the mast a finger/a cm towards the back. That’s how I do it! 🤙
The 1201 has a very good glide. The 1150 is not even close. The 1201 is closer to 1099, a bit slower but with a lot better glide. Amazing glide. It is the most sold front wing of all Axis foil front wings. That is surely for a reason!
@roymassey1364 True, the 1150 is a great foil to start learning to dockstart. 1300 and 1310 demand a little more technique and higher speed. The 1201 needs even more speed to use for dockstart. Definitely not for a beginner in dockstart. For wingfoil the 1150 is very slow. The 1300 faster and the 1201 really nice. Faster and easy with a lot of glide.
Spectacular. Did you say 1201 fits between 1099 and 1050? If so does that mean 1050 is slower than 1201? When I bought the 999, I sold the 1099 as I found the low and top end performance very very close and 999 was more playful and carves, rides swell better FYI. Great video! Thanks.
Hi, Thank you! 🤩 Yes, that is right. The 1201 is faster than the 1050 and comes up on foil about as early as the 1050. And the glide of the 1201 is miles ahead of the 1050. Don’t get me wrong, the 1050 is a great wing but the 1201 is what you want instead! Regarding the 1099 and 1201, like I said in the video. The 1099 needs more to get going, more demanding to get up in foil. The 1201 is really a worthy 2:nd generation of HA foils. The 1099 and 999 are very close. Lighter riders are good on the 999. The 1099 gives a bit more lift. But the 999 is more fun, I agree completely! Thanks for watching! 🤙

Is the splitfire 1180 more stable and better turning then the 1201 just slower?
Yes, that is a good summary.
What a great review packed of information, what skinny would you pair with the 1050 from 8knts to 15knts then I normally change to 880 ?

The 1201 has a very good glide. The 1150 is not even close. The 1201 is closer to 1099, a bit slower but with a lot better glide. Amazing glide. It is the most sold front wing of all Axis foil front wings. That is surely for a reason!
A lot of people like the 1150 for dock starting because it’s so easy to dock start is the 1201 as easy or is it more difficult to dock start?
