    You can also use that blue aiming cone from the flamethrower to define a larger area to be set on fire (drag mouse?). If you use that to block an entrance while enemies are moving towards your location (eg during a Hunt) they might try to go for a different entrance to your location if one is available. Or you could use that to only partially block a corridor to funnel charging enemies into a slim line.

      I've also used it to keep xenos in a large kill zone for longer, by forcing them to walk sideways for a while before they reach a gap to charge.

      Absolutely, just completed the game on Hard and the sheer amount of area it can cover is insane, saved my troops so often. It will actually force Xenos to avoid coming into certain areas, leaving you free to focus on kill zones in certain directions.

      It's absolutely amazing for area denial and controlling the map, especially during onslaughts. Fun fact: while xenos avoid the fire if possible, human enemies are very dumb and will walk right into it! Some free kills right there!

    Somthing I've seen with the flamethrower is enemies will sometimes path around the fire or even better will wait for the flames to die if there is no path. Not sure if it's a bug but it's saved me a couple times.

    For the Sniper Rifle you can also use it on the larger Xenos (Queen, Crusher, Pretorian) and whilst it will not kill them it does a decent amount of damage but it will temporarily stun them, this will actually interrupt them during a charge which can be a the difference between life and death.

    One added use of the incinerator is that you can divert xenomorphs away from certain doors, causing them to re-direct and funnel down one corridor where you can lay down suppressive fire and focus sentry guns.

    I can add 2 things to this:
    1) Flame throwers can be detected by aliens across the map. They create a wall, that the aliens do NOT want to cross. So if you want them to cross it, you must be in a dead end, and that will force them to cross it, to get to you. Let's say the map is a big ring, you hose the path to your right, the aliens will stop where ever they are, and turn around, and go ALL THE WAY AROUND the ring, to try to get you from the other side.
    So you need to leave an opening, if you want to funnel them for easy shooting.
    2) RPG.... Shoot the boss first with the electrified grenade, THEN the RPG. The electrified grenade will slow them down to a crawl, making it easier to hit them with the RPG. Again, you can force them down a path, using the flamethrower.

    • @MistaFiOth

      Good thoughts my friend. As I've always said, there is not ONE WAY to play. There are many viable approaches.

    • @ZimCrusher
      @ZimCrusher 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MistaFiOth true. It's just that during the first few levels, this was really frustrating to me. I'd have 1 Command point left, and I'd use it to make a wall of fire, thinking this would weaken the aliens, only to have them turn 180, and go all the way around the complex, to attack from the other side.
      And they know about the fire, way out of eye sight.
      Even the bosses, will change direction, and just go around.
      They do not see mines, but they totally see fire, and sometimes jump out of the way of grenades.
      Having a lot of fun with this game, though, even if I find the XP method a bit untuned.
      If your guys go an entire mission, without getting detected, you only get ONE extra XP, but if you kill everything, and use command points to keep your stress low, you can walk out with 5 (killing waves, and bosses). SO it s rewarding being noisy.

    I love using the incinerator to soften up enemies during defense actions. Set up a wall of flame as the horde approaches and combine with suppressive fire. The result is that they stay in the flames longer when advancing. This can be a huge benefit if you have a corridor and can spread out the blaze down the hall.

    I think with the Flamethrower, the aliens will try to go around if there is a path, but go through if there are no other paths to reach you. This makes it super useful for closing off an approach to make enemies take the long way around.

    I know this isnt special weapons related but I been using the drone to make noise and lure all of the scouting aliens to the opposite side of map. Then, I keep them there by consistently making noise. While switching back to marines to clear out rooms with no problems. Its a very slow and time consuming way to play. Im not sure if the game is intended to play that way but its kept my Marines health at optimal level 😂

      @@dantesgtfo1511 You have to take control of the drone. Then command him to an area. Make sure you are having the drone make noise while he moves towards the area. Keep using noise until you have the Xenos where you want them. Then you alternate making noise while having Marines do tasks. It's pretty hard work but worth it.

    The flamer for damage is best against elite bad guys and bosses. but that isnt its main use, if you have multiple ways into a room during an onslaught or hunt, block one path with fire when they arrive, and they will divert around to the other route!. its better than wasting a tool on sealing a door that only lasts for 1 second with a wave of xenos beating on it. the fire will hurt any that DO push through, but most will simply divert!.
    The egg thing I find eggs spot you SO FAST I can almost never make it work, but when it does the silence is great.

      Last night I was able to pop quite a few on Nightmare. It worked quite well.

  • @TheSuperColonel
    @TheSuperColonel หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For some reason most human enemies do not avoid flames so if a human patrol is closing by you can flame behind you and there is a very high chance that the human patrol will die from burning.
    On Nightmare there is a very low chance that Elite human types will survive with a tiny hp if burning dot dmg rolls were all low.
    Flamers have a very big value.
    You can even flame humans and then ctrl/hide in cover before getting detected as a flamer is a stealth weapon and you can burn them without getting detected.
    In some cases it is cheaper then repeated sniper uses.

Occasionally I find myself reverting to my old Teemo tendencies; hiding in a relatively safe room and slowly spreading my network of shroo-... er, mines out, waiting for command points to recharge, etc. I doubt this is what the devs had in mind when they added this, but doesn't make it any less satisfying.
