An an indian man, I love ethiopian food. It's like a healthier version of indian food. A lot less deep frying, butter, and oil, they also eat more greens.

We Ethiopians eat vegan food because in Ethiopian orthodox tewahedo Religion (The dominant religion in Ethiopia) We fast for 252 days(this includes every Wednesday and Friday) out of the 365 days of a year and we also do not eat any animal products on those days.

This is not true. Orthodox Christianity is dominant only in the Northern part of Ethiopia ( Amhara and Tigray regions ). In the southern part of Ethiopia, protestant Christianity is dominant. Islam is dominant in the eastern and South eastern part of Ethiopia. Plant based dish is eaten literally in every corner of Ethiopia. Though, everything you said about orthodox fasting tradition being vegan. Most orthodox Christians residing in the major cities( like Addis and Adam, etc) don't care about fasting at all. Other parts, will have meat dish on the side if they can afford (most people eat vegan becauseit is cheaper option). Infact, the chef himself sounds like he is from the western part ( his name ), which again is not orthodox dominated area. Do not spread lies about everything. Learn to speak truth rather than projecting your wish.

It's interesting that she says this food isn't oily, because the Ethiopian cookbook I has consistently calls for giant amounts of oil in most any recipe! I've gotten to cutting it down to 1/4 the amount called for, and it's still plenty!

It's so true. I was pre-diabetic probably still a little on the higher side and I had stage 3 kidney disease. I went to God and he lead me to fast, and to eat way more vegetables. I went vegan. My kidneys are now stage 2 which is virtually unheard of. If that ain't God, I don't know what to tell you. I do waver at times and start to eat meat and that damn cheese lol. It's funny God will push me to fast and I always go back to vegan dishes. Been looking up Jamaican ( my moms family is Jamaican already) Nigerian Ethiopian vegan dishes and I can't wait. Definitely try it before you knock it. Sending Jamaican-flavored love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sorry for your frustration but this was filmed back in July last year. So life happens. Only one restaurant is closed and it’s mentioned in the caption so people know. The other is looking for a new home and that’s also mentioned in the caption. Before shooting off comments of frustration please make sure the info isn’t already posted. These videos were made not only to promote the restaurant but also to promote veganism in general, the food, and why the owners are vegan. If you are only concerned with the opening and closing of restaurants than please don’t watch my videos and bring negative energy. I prefer not to have it. Thank you.
