What we will NEED in the next couple years is Podkolzin, Lekkerimäki and especially Willander to be a factor. Having those players be impactful for on the cheap is pinnacle for total team success. IF we can replace Myers (~$6M) with Willander and Garland (~$4M) with Lekkerimäki then we’re laughing. You then take that bank and bolster your blue line..the rest goes in net to honour a Demko extension. That whole formula is the hope and beauty of draft picks turning out. Otherwise, it’s the massive over-pay in free-agency, and quite frankly I’m sick and tired of that game

I wouldn't say waste of space but not as significant as fans were making him out to be. I like Bear but I'm not sold that we needed him to be successful or effective.
He's a 6-7 defenseman why would we need him.

I like the fact he may have come at a discount off an injury. But yeah like you said maybe a 5-7 depth defenseman. We can get that elsewhere.

Definitely agree. Last nights game showed that they don’t need to make a panic move. Plus Bear want more with a term than Canucks can do right now.

Yes it's exciting to trade. I do love a great hit and a spirited fight but we don't need to sign and trade everyone. I love our chemistry and culture.

Yes some moves work and other adds don't. Plus finding the right chemistry is tough. I think Bear already knows the city and culture but it's a different team. At least the core players are the same.
I have no issue with this. He is a depth defenseman and whoever pays for him to be more will regret it. On top of this he is coming off a significant injury. Personally I think the Canucks may have dodged a bullet!
That's a really great point. Not everyone comes back from an injury like they want to. It took Brock a long time to bounce back.

I agree, he'd be nice for depth but we are winning with what we have.
The only way I want to see us add a defenceman right now is if the new guy comes in and is immediately and clearly, our #3 best d-man. That means he must be better than Soucy, Zadorov and Cole. To get a guy like that it would take dealing a winger with some salary like Kuzmenko or Garland but either seriously depletes our winger talent.
I agree. Bear can play in the good minutes but I felt Canuck fans were too in love with Bear. I like him a lot but I thought someone would offer him more.
Bear was a 6th D man for so long, who cares... he can barely stay in the NHL
I agree but he played some good hockey in Vancouver but it's amazing how many Canucks fans were upset that he's not coming to VAN.
He was a free asset. Allvin, would have love to use Bear as a trade chip for his future dealings to upgrade the team.
I appreciate your comments but he can't just be signed to be a trade chip right? It's got to be to improve and help the roster.

Some of these great look D man should be swappable ie when suscy comes back send him to AHL to get beefed up as well as BEAR AND THEN ROTATE ACCORDLY HAVE THE 7TH JUST IN CASE 1 GETS INJURED OR SOMETHING. i do this will all my nhl gm trades :)

i personally dont care if he signs or not but Juulsen is where he would have played now if it was Juulsen from a month and a half ago yes I would definitely play Bear over Juulsen but with how much Juulsen is improving his game lately I would not

This guy is overrated. Out battled and had so many giveaways... he is no better than the guys they have. 6th defenseman at best.
I believe he has value but the idea that he is the answer to all our Def issues...is just not true. It would have been nice to have him.
